I'll make a new post if we send them out again. Locking this thread to stop the necromancy.

Just tossing a feature into a game for no other reason than other games have it is the ABSOLUTE WORST thing a designer can do for a game's design. Game design is about building on the foundation of the core game loops that are needed to play the game. Just tossing in a feature because XYZ game has it is why the game industry is littered with games that don't play well. If the game has a core game loop or sequence of player actions that will benefit from the feature then it makes sense
There will be tie-ins, don't worry about that. :)
Lol. Fine. Rainbow Worlds, weeeeee!!!!!!!!!
Yep. I believe we released an early concept of them in the founder's vault already.
Hmmm.. I thought everything else is fair game covered it.
And presumably the story draft has already been screened with Fred Ford or/and Paul Reiche III.
Paul and Fred are not involved in the development of Star Control game we are making.
What are we not using... We are not using the story and races associated with the Ur-quan storyline. What to expect... We are not using the original ship designs, the alien races will all have new ship designs. We are doing are best to not reuse star names. Everything else is fair game.
Each ship's behaviors will be unique. That includes some of the movement mechanics as well.
I can confirm that you will be able to lose playing Star Control.
Any word on when this is going to be open.
The founder's program has already opened and has closed due to reaching max capacity.
Something to keep in mind for everyone. Everything you guys are seeing as founder's in the vault is still considered work in progress. We will definitely say when something is final, so please remember you are seeing things as they are getting developed along the way.
Thanks to everyone who submitted applications to the Star Control Founder's Program. We are no longer taking applications to be part of the program. Stay tuned to the Star Control website, forums, and your favorite game sites for more information about the game in the future. - Vaelzad
I wouldn't say it's very trekkie at all.
I'd not want him to manspread right in my face.
Make sure you don't make it angry then. :)
Hmm... I'm very confused on the feedback. I didn't realize that 8 eyes, 2 arms and 4 legs and a head in the shape of a clamshell was humanoid.
The planet STYLE is fine, but the colors could use some (possibly extreme) variation.
Already on the books.
Polling is a valid way of knowing what the Founders, as a group, think.
Polling only works if everyone participates and there is no way to enforce complete participation. If people don't participate your information is skewed and is actually more harmful than good. The Founders are not a committee and will never be treated as such. Each Founder is an individual with a voice that is not stronger or
The current plan is to have one energy system that is shared between the abilities.
The current plan for scanning a planet involves actually scanning the planet and being able to filter on the resources and objects you find. From there you will be able to choose the landing location you would like to try and land at. While you will be able to scan and see many things from orbit you won't be able to get specifics until you visit the planet and visit them up close. As an example, you will detect the locations of the resources on t
It should have things in it that make it better, just not things "piled on" just for the sake of having more stuff in the game. SC2 already has this minimalist philosophy, so it would be in keeping with the original game. Make what is already there as interesting and dynamic as possible, then see what other elements might actually belong with what is there instead of just piling on every system from every similar game just becau
I'd like to add that all we've seen up to now are some still images. The degree of cartoony-ness is not really explored at all with just those images. I think we all agree that none of us wants to see a cartoony-cartoon planet with zippy little animations and "ZOINK" sound effects. But, imagine if you will, a terran planet as shown here: <img src="http://i.imgur.com/0ANLrV1.jpg" alt="" width="360" he
Strictly speaking , if vault contents are covered by the NDA, how are we supposed to actually use it as a ringtone in public? [e digicons]:P[/e] Heh, isn't that the ultimate tease?
You can only use it on your phone. You can't put it on someone else's phone. ;)
And the feedback is very much welcomed. I'm just pointing out that the HD screen you did post is very mundane and unoriginal. To be critical on a few points, The orbit lines are very thin, because of that you lose them very quickly. The blue lines are completely lost because of the blue nebula background as a result the gas giant's positioning appears distorted. The lighting is inconsistent. The ambient light of the system is brighter
Hey Everyone! So I know there has a been a few posts about Stardock teasing you guys, and people wondering when the next Vault update is going to be. Well I figured if we are going to get accused of teasing we might as well do so. ;) Be sure to check out the Vault! </s
