This is game is suppose to be Sandbox, so if crafting is optional, it adds fun to the game for those who enjoy it. I've come to enjoy crafting in a lot of games that have included them.

Well the old sc2 had farming already. You had to farm for credits to buy ships and fuel. the only excitement was finding the rare ores and minerals. and occasional unique encounter like a ship part. Adding crafting allows more interesting search for items and loot. killing ships and getting loot drop would be fun. who doesn't like loot? and progression towards an upgrade? what are we exploring the galaxy for ? just min
What about crafting different models of planet landers? Different landers for different environments and such.
That's a great idea. Crafting "Visuals". Just different skins or looks to your ship.
Hmm, I think I like the idea of maybe having blueprints for flagship upgrades. If it's extended to the regular ships as well though, seems like it would be possible to put players into dead ends where they're not able to fight, or explore anymore. And it would limit different play styles. If it's just for the flagship (or maybe just the higher tiers of the flagship) seems like that would make it a special goal, rather than co
This is a good question. Underlying it all is another one. What would you be able to craft?
I posted an idea on this in another thread. Let's say you do quests for some aliens. They give you a blue print to their ship. Previously, in Star Control 2, you gain alien ships that you encounter if they join your fleet and automatica
Do you guys plan to have Crafting in the game? If not, may I suggest adding crafting as a mechanic/feature. This would really make the game awesome. Especially, the planet exploring aspect. Stuff to collect for crafting would be really cool. And Loot from ships that you defeat.
I did kind of enjoy the Lander aspect of the game, where you go down and harvest resources/bio data. There was a sense of danger to that since you could lose your Lander and you'd have to buy more to replace them. I think it's important to be able to have resources to harvest and resell/reuse for stuff. I think it'd be neat to add in "Crafting" elements to the game as well. So no
I think the Nov2015.PDF should be adjusted or clarified a bit. "b. The player only controls 1 ship" This probably needs to be worded to say your "Capital/Flag Ship and the ships that are in your fleet". In StarCon2, you control all the ships that join your fleet when doing battles. "There is no resource management. " Technically, there
I'm crushed. [e digicons]8C[/e] I tried at least. Please tell me that there are more emails going out. Been playing the series for 25yrs now, only to get rejected. So sad times are these.
Don't feel bad. I took the survey too and didn't get accepted. Told a friend to do it and he got it. Been checking my email every hour with no luck.
Some sort of Alien race similar to the Ilwrath that cloaks. I really like their ship with the wings where you can trap some of the ships. Reminds me of the Klingons. The Mmrnmhrm transformer type ship. A ship that transforms would be cool. A robotic like race.
Are the founders email link transferrable? If the person doesn't want to pay the founder's price to get into the vault could he give it to his friend instead?
Was the selection process random?
Moba could be interesting.
I'm Jelly. Hope I get an email soon.
Thanks for the post. The plan for the reboot is that it'll be all new aliens. We won't be touching the classic aliens (or minors) until if/when Paul and Fred (the original designers who are working on Skylanders these days) are able to revisit their lore.
I have a feeling we won't be seeing Paul and Fred doing Star Control anytime soon, since they're swimming in all that do
Steam Support related discussions should be in another thread? It's starting to get off topic.
The way the universe/galaxy was portrayed in Spores was cool too. Those planets reminds me a lot like Spores. The planets look good. Maybe a few Cybertron like planets would be cool.
This looks great! Can't wait to be apart of the program.
I'm crossing my fingers and hoping to get picked. :)
No invites have been sent. We're trying to keep the number very very low since we will be spending a lot of time with the first group of founders.
I've been checking the forum and mailbox everyday like clockwork hoping to see a nice surprise. :)
BTW, wait until you see the alien interaction. You're going to poop. I showed it to Paul recently. The style is Star Control 2 but 3D, cartoony but real time, full body interaction. Think Civilization V leaders on steroids.
Interesting. Can't wait to see it!!
Quoting cuorebrave, reply 1 Please no outposts. I can promise you there is no outpost management in the game. [e digicons]:)[/e]
Well. Technically, in Star Control 1, there was sort of an 'outpost'
Looking at Galactic Civ 3. (recently bought it) It looks too much like Star Control 3. God, I hope this new SC reboot doesn't look like SC3 or the Galactic Civ 3. I think the charm of the SC2 was the artwork style of the cartoony looking characters.
Can't wait for the Founder's Program and helping out with some feedback.
Regarding Lore: I don't mind creating a new lore in the same universe. Possibly this could just be a galaxy far far away. Which probably means going back to Earth isn't really something you want to do, unless it's an alternate timeline. It'll depend on the storyline. Some possible starting point would be you're not the same player as the player featured in SC2. The old guy talking about his adventu
