Surprisingly I enjoyed the very first Star Control. Being that I love strategy. It was like a mini short Galactic Civilization game. (Sins of Solar Empire-ish) Deciding where to mine. Fortify. Colonize. Build ships and fight! I know this team is currently working only on the Star Control 2 like aspect of the game. But if there is room somewhere to make a Star Control 1 like game somehow that w
For folks like myself who have motion sickness, we avoid games that are all 3D first person or even just tilted angled in a weird way. I am one of those folks! It is my personal campaign to make sure you don't get motion sick playing the ground game of Star Control. To touch upon this a bit. The current camera behaves more like a chase helicopter. The

I actually enjoyed sc1. I would either go over to my friends house or he comes over and we would be playing against either other on the same keyboard. Left side and right side. Now that we have internet technology been able to do sc1 would be fun with other players with some quick matches.
Can't wait to see it.
I disagree. Look at games like Stardew Valley. There's a lot of games that go back to the 'old school style gaming play style. A lot of players miss the old school Zelda top down 2D gaming view. The whole new 3D stuff is a different gaming experience.
The controversial part is that Plaent Exploration just became a 3D race car driving game. Where you're looking from the back of the car over (ala 3rd person view). If you look back at Star Control 2 it captured an audience of "top down view" players. Everything was top down. The actual gameplay is top down. You fight in supermelee top down. You explore the planet topdown. When you start changing the planet expl
I'm active once a month when the new zip files come out and give my feedback. Hope I can get a key to check it out and actively play and provide feedback. What is considered "Active"? 25 postings? 50 postings? Thanks.
Solar System view looks great. Planet Exploration game play experience looks horrible. Please bring back the top down view experience. I agree with the OP, that we need DOTS representing the crew. A bar is like a health bar to me. Doesn't feel like I'm losing people. Health bars make me feel like they're okay to be sacrificed and its just a tolerance level and it might regr
One of the many reasons why I love Star Control is the fact that it is not "3D" first person view. For folks like myself who have motion sickness, we avoid games that are all 3D first person or even just tilted angled in a weird way. The motion sickness largely comes from the center point constantly changing. In the old Star Control, the center point doesn't always 'constantly' change. It only changes when your ship reaches the edg
If you want to retain "that irresistibly fun" aspect of this genre that most " just can't put their finger on", then you have to retain the pure top down view because it is that "perfect un-distorted vision of the action" that creates that "irresistibly fun" aspect that most can't identify. I can, as I've mentioned before, it's the Pattern Recognition Addiction that you lose if you angle the camera and destroy that "pe
Maybe this is a UI thing that you're messing with for now. But I really don't like the new UI of the ingame. I really like the OLD interface where all the ship stuff was on the side of the screen in a vertical box. The fact that we have wide monitors now, the extra width on the screen gives you more view space. The overlay on the view space area is just way too distracting and darn ugly. </
I like old SC2 dialog when you are "visiting" the alien vessel. May be once can make it as an option - like "cockpit" view or "immersion" view.
I think you're posting in the wrong feedback thread. Since this thread discussion is about the Commander arts tyle and voice over. not UI.
Ron Pimpster is an example of my theory that "top down" (I use that term because I always assume that a modern game will use a 3D engine even to represent 2D for the graphic effects, etc) games are a very popular genre that has been lost to the computer game industry because of very valid issues that the artists have with them. But those issues are, in reality, only relevant to 3D games. If you are willing to accept the limitat
Putting in Camera view angles is great. So long as there is the option for me to rotate the camera to view it straight top down. "trying" to improve was what Star Control 3 did. What you want to do is meet the baseline. So long as you cover the baseline and then improve. Radically changing something and taking a way something is not exactly improving. It is 'subjective' as what is considered '
I'll give a more detailed check off on Voices: AbbyT 01 = Great. AbbyT 02 = low energy. Amanda M - ugh. no good. Carrie - medicore. Dorothy - no good. Erika H - pretty good. Julie - too soft. low energy. Karen S - medicore. Laura P.01 - has personality. pretty good Laura P.02 - too low energy. Laura
The voices all seem fine to me. It's the visual artwork of the commander that really looks bad. Something about the Face of the character and the eyes. I mean it screams scary looking human face. If you're going to try to go for cartoony. How about make her look more like Pixar. The face of that commander girl is just ugly. Maybe the face of the girls from Frozen Elsa and Ana looks bette
Let's just be clear here. This game is "based" off of the success of Star Control 2. If it ain't broken, why make changes to a mechanic that is the core of the game you're building on. Star Control 2 was an Arcade top down view. The mechanics of that game was perfect. It's a 2D based top down view. Don't change what works. That was the CORE mechanic of the ent
Hopefully there is an option to make it go full TOP DOWN instead of angled like it is now. Star Control was fun because it was a Straight Top down view game.
Spores design and current planet design seems fine to me.
I'm against items crafting. I'd rather explore and find/trade/complete quest/kick ass for that "plasmotronic rail gun" than grind and farm for numerous hours to craft it.
Okay. Then they will need to add a lot more items to the game to make this interesting. Ala Diablo ? The game NDA file does say this will be "Sandbox". &nb
Quoting GnarlyFurtardo, reply 14 I'm not sure I agree with this... Putting the Precursor Bomb together in SC2 could be considered crafting (albeit a very unique case). I think SCR could get away with a minimum amount of required crafting, ie you must build at a heat resistant land
