Ah, double standards ... TV: can't show a person actually drinking a beer in a commercial, but when the John Wayne movie returns, you can watch John "knock down" some whiskey in the saloon...... Telemarketers (sp?): They are fighting the "no call" list with the "freedom of speech" approach. It's not OK for your neighbor to crank up his/her stereo so loud you can't sleep, but it's OK for a telemarketer to call you anytime they please? Sporting events where you can't bring in alcoholic beverages,

Tonight, I saw via Stardock Central, an upgrade of WindowBlinds 4.00.006 to 4.10.010. I started the upgrade and noticed the transfer rate was from 19 to 80 bits per second, so the 2.09 MB file download would take around 320 to 450 minutes. I can only afford a dial-up internet connection. Why so slow? I don’t see this "slowness" at other sites. I can usually connect at 28800 to 44000. <img src="h

In response to #20, Dianekk, I read somewhere that the virus scanner should be disabled when installing 811493. After I had the same slowdown problem, I un-installed 811493 and then downloaded the supposedly fixed version (with my virus scanner disabled) and it worked just fine. Don't know if it was the update to 811493 or the virus scanner being disabled, but it may be worth trying. <img src="http://

If this ever gets implemented, I would take one of my old useless computers and illegally download copyrighted music from the Internet, three times. Then, when my useless computer "blows up", I can get my name on the class action lawsuit. Sounds like fun! <A HREF="https://www.wincustomize.com/index.asp?

Seems like most of the *.wba files work with WebBlinds. My favorite is Alien Technology (DavidK) though I haven't figured out how to get the colors green or blue (comes up in silver)in WebBlinds like the WindowBlinds has. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmiddle" ALT="Powered b

I think a good example of a message board with a help section is at the seti@home site: http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/ There are several veteran user's that actively participate in the "help" section. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/sb.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmiddle" ALT="Powered by SkinB

Why does the thread "Geek wallpaere' (that's how it was spelled in the post) always appear near the top of the subjects (at least for me it does.) I'm using SDC and don't see any controls other than to click the column titles, but that thread, though 4 days old, stays near the top (I understand that a thread like "NOTICE: Off topic Posting" would stay up there.) Just curious <A HREF="https://ww

Actually, I also had a problem with Stardock Central. After I uninstalled the 811493 MS critical update, SDC would no longer work. I had to uninstall SDC and delete the directory, then reinstall SDC to get it to work again. The people over at SETI@home are experiencing a "slowdown" of their work unit processing after they security update to their software. The reason for the update was: "Version 3.08 is a precautionary security release. There was a potential buffer overrun in the ne

Maybe there's more to this ... I just downloaded and applied everaldo, and it didn't look very good on my system (winXP, 1600x1200 true color). My display properties menu turned completely black. Start/All Programs menu was black with a medium to dark gray font, which was quite difficult to read. However, the comments for this WB skin seemed quite favorable and nothing I saw suggested the menu problems I had. So this got me wondering. There's so many factors involved, such as WB version
