Well that's a pretty good AAR anyway. Thanks for the cool info!

Most excellent! Now this is the kind of Terror Star I'm talkin' about! It would be an ultra cool random event to have an opportunity to destroy a terror star thru espionage.
(:( I hope this forum doesn't get as hostile as the MOO3 boards.
Not if a mod is done by a community of people and is not for sale. Perhaps Paramount might even author an official mod. If they then followed the lead of Maxis, they'd develop a role playing game whose characters could them be imported into GalCiv! You could even import certain major events from GalCiv into the role-playing version. I wish Neverwinter Nights would do this and develop a strategy game based on that world!
I think the "escort" you can have is more akin to simply stacking the trade ship with the escorting unit ala Civ/Alpha Centauri....
Kewl backstory. So many games seem to have the backstory sort of bolted on. It would be cool to see the story incorporated like Alpha Centauri.
A most excellent article!
Los Angeles, CA near Los Feliz and the magical House of Pies!
I think the starbases have a module which can have fighters which add an attack strength (of +3?) to the base but the fighting in the game is much more strategic than tactical so I don't expect it to have carriers.
Mirror, Mirror ================ A strange discovery in a remote quadrant releases an unknown energy force throughout the galaxy SWITCHING the alignments of all races! Research must be done on the object to reverse the event. But perhaps some races inhibit research? Things are fine just the way they are!
Up With Good Aliens! ==================== A major charity concert is held and proceeds go to benefit all good empires which have participated... "Everyone put your tentacles in the air and gesticulate like ya just don't care!" :CONGRAT: +?%Morale, +? Money

I don't think you can. Why not partition your drive and put Win95 on it?
What I'd like to see is an expansion of the government side of things. This is along the lines of the old boardgame "Republic of Rome". Parties of the senate would be represented by individuals which would have ceratin attributes. You would have influence within the senate as you do in the UP model. There would be titles that you could get for your senators like gov. of some planet or sector. You would have to control the senate leadership to do some things from within the senate.
Because Randy, you know that anyone who has to stress that "they really care" doesn't really (care)!
Behold the awe and the majesty of the "Kitten Recycling Unit"! With this device all will truly this of us as EVIL!
So does that mean the beta is no longer available and that only on the 26th can one actually download the thing which is not the beta but is in fact the actual product meaning that it is not the beta and can only be downloaded on the 26th? ;)
I'm sure this is an idea mentioned somewhere but it would be cool to add this other philosophical system! Maybe we could MOD this in? Personally, I love the idea of running an Evil/Order empire!
Thanks for the replies! Replies = coolness. Gotta say the more I discover what this game has to offer the more fun it looks! :)
With all other games I've played, if decide to be evil, you must be aggressive and have a large army. Can you be evil but relatively non-warlike?
Sorry to say I didn't like MOO3. I loaded it, played around with it and several hours later was still having no fun. Loaded up old Alpha Centauri last night and it's still fun! I'm looking forward to GalCiv!
I looked thru the review and though people seem to mention that Chick "won multiple times" or "won twice" by doing nothing, I can't find anywhere in the review where he specifically says that. Perhaps MOO3 is moving too much towards a general target audience. Looks like GalCiv is trying to stick much closer to the standard set by Sid.
