Went and bought a new Steam card today fully intending to take advantage of War Thunder's yearly special on their premium subscription. Just as I was about to do the deal, I hesitated. There, on the Staem storefront, was a blurb about Star Control. A good, long minute goes by before I finally say "screw it...it's Stardock. It'll be good." So add me to the list of Star Controllers. The funny thing is I have never played any of the SC games. I'm an old school gamer, too, from th

My most anticipated feature is definitely the Civ Builder. So much more customization possible even before we have to start digging into the XML's. :) Saying that, I do hope that all of our creations will be able to have customize-able music as well. Also, it would be nice to be able to choose civilizations that would be permanent rivals throughout a game. In Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, for ex

Nicely said. I too have noticed the great strides recently being made to make this game better. Definitely a big step in the right direction. Personally, like many here, I eagerly await the Crusade expansion simply for the civilization builder if nothing else. I think Crusade , if done right, will give GalCiv 3 the kick it needs to bring those sitting on the sidelines a chance to jump in again.

About 35 minutes in to the 3/24 stream, Paul says this: "For the next patch (not 1.7,which is still about a month out) we are going to, or at least the current plan is to have a new system...or the ability to download whole factions and ship styles from Steam." This is very cool and a nice addition. But this second part REALLY makes me smile: <
Cheating AI (in 2016 - I am writing this at the same time as a non-cheating AI is beating the world's best human go player three times, possibly five times in a row!).
"Hassabis says DeepMind’s system works pretty well on a single computer equipped with a decent number of GPU chips, but for the match against Fan Hui, the researchers used

This is happening in a game I am playing right now (1.4 opt-in). I am trading with race#1 that is sandwiched between my borders (they are very close...we trade, share techs, etc.) and race#2, who I am at war with. Race#2 also declares war on race#1. For many, many turns race#1 has had ships in my territory ghosting some of my fleets, parking near starbases and oogling some of my planets. Race#1 doesn't seem to be sending many ships to fight race#2. </

Spies have been promised in a future expansion (or major update). There has also been talk of "characters" being added such as ship captains who will gain bonuses the more they are in combat, for example. Again, all in future expansions. Just like GalCiv 2 there will be two major expansion packs.
Or, perhaps, a rescue mission to extract Vahlen? or 'debrief? [e digicons]:)[/e]
A definite possibility. Who knows? It could be one of those "if you rescue her she joins XCOM...if you don't/can't she stays with Advent" or something like that.

Developer Garth says Vahlen is "missing". My prediction: The way Vahlen acted in EU/EW and going by some of the things she said during the game, I wouldn't be surprised if she's working for Advent...either by choice or by force. You heard it here first, folks. Oh, and I also believe Han Solo is going to die in the new J.J. Abrams Star Wars movie...since I'm throwing predictions out there.
