Will the game support LAN play? I'm not sure about everyone else, but one of the best parts of part 1 is that you don't need ANY service to play with friends. You just connect directly to their system if you want. Will this feature be a part of the new game as well?

Can someone please confirm one way or the other on whether this game will/does require steam? It doesn't say on the purchase site, the requirements or faq. I refuse to install steam for any game. I just want to know if this game is one I will never be able to buy and play or not. thanks to anyone able to answer.
