Hi - I just came across this bug and have the save game. Let me know if it will still help to have a save game available to troubleshoot this for the devs.
It wouldn't hurt, I have obtained some savegames, but for different circumstances.

Sorry to hear you are having trouble. If you could upload a savegame to a cloud service (DropBox, Google Drive, One Drive) and post a link here, the developers can take a look at it. Savegames are located in \Documents\My Games\Star Control\Saves Thank you for your patience and patronage.

If you have a savegame where this is reproducible it would help a lot if you uploaded it to a cloud service (DropBox, Google Drive, One Drive) and post a link here, the developers can take a look at it. Savegames are located in \Documents\My Games\Star Control\Saves

It would help if we could see what's in your runlog.txt file, it is located in ...\Documents\My Games\Star Control If you would upload it to a cloud service (DropBox, Google Drive, One Drive) and post a link here, so I can take a look at it.

Sorry to hear you are having trouble. Is this happening only on the opt-in? Does the game crash to desktop or does it become unresponsive? Thank you for your patience and patronage.

Your system might have 8GB, but that will be split with the integrated graphics card. As the runlog says INISettings:: DetermineVRAM dedicatedVideoMemory 128MB dedicatedSystemMemory 0MB sharedSystemMemory 4038MB vendorID 8086 deviceID 5916 The value for video memory is rather low. So the graphics card will struggle. I am also somewhat concerned by that the fact that the shared memory value is lower than it should be. <a href="https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/video

Not really. From what I can tell there's not enough RAM for the game causing it to become unresponsive. Try opening Task Manager and sorting processes by memory, then check if there is anything that would be using a lot of it, like say a web-browser, then shut them down to free up memory.

The Earth Rising thing is just a splash-screen, there is no issue caused by it. I double-checked by uninstalling Earth Rising on my system and playing the game. Are your drivers up do date? Specifically the graphics ones. From your system's info I see you only have an Intel HD Graphics 620. You can find the latest drivers for that card here .
I have exactly the same issue, every time the game freezes right after the initial cutscenes. Game files integrity validation always fails (1 file always failing and needs to be reacquired). Ended up downloading all DLCs in case this fixed the issue but no luck. Deleted and reinstalled the game more than 3 times already, ran at lowest settings problem persists. Each time the log file shows the following errors, maybe these

Nothing really changed. Your system meets the minimum requirements, barely. Something I find odd is that in your system specs it says it has 8 GB RAM, but in the runlog it says 4 GB for shared memory. INISettings::DetermineVRAM dedicatedVideoMemory 128MB dedicatedSystemMemory 0MB sharedSystemMemory 4038MB vendorID 8086 deviceID 5916 Go to Documents\My Games\Star Control and rename or delete settings.ini, start the game, open Options, set the minimum values fo
