I find it amazing how those who have not yet played SCO, can be so negative. I am a HUGE SC fan. I've played all three extensively. I got involved with the founders program several years ago, and it was great that Stardock actually listened to what the players were saying. After playing for over 20 hours, here is my assessment: The Melee combat is much better on SCO. The power-ups are an awesome addition, which can sometimes effect the battle outcome. The variety of ships (each race h

I just finished playing for over 12 hours. I forgot to eat lunch and almost missed eating dinner! Stardock, you really did nail it! Outside of a slow fps while on some planets, the performance is great. My only complaint so far is that you should get more RU's for critter meat, or have the larger animals give more of it. I can make more RU's from even collecting the resources that are only 1 RU each, then I can from killing critters. Does the amount of RU's you get for critters go up as you p
I entered the steam code and it said I already had it installed. I'm guessing it's because I've already been playing the beta. At this point will I just need to change the properties in the beta tab to 'None'? Should I do that now, or just wait until tomorrow? Thanks again for a great job on the game.
Hey grahag, I ran into the same thing last month when I started to play SC2. Some of the things that I really liked back then, seemed a bit tedious now. The biggest being the resource gathering and trying to visit all the planets. I was glad to hear that in SCO the planetary exploration is not the driving force behind the game. It's seems to be more about overall exploration and following the main and secondary storylines. I think that since people have so many great gam
Hey professorunibro, this comment is for you. I'm curious about what it is about SCO that you do not like? You say you're a hardcore SC2 fan, but I find that hard to believe. Your not even a founder, so you obviously have net yet played chapter 1 which was awesome by the way, as I did play it, several times in fact. For most SC2 fans there were 4 basic game elements that made the game fantastic. Melee combat, planetary exploration, hyperdrive exploration and race communi
I've read a few complaints about very few gameplay videos for SCO. For those who have played SC2 or dare I say, SC3... we greatly appreciate that you did not let any game reviewers get their hands on the game first and start posting tons of videos. SCO is not your typical game. Each play through is not unique. For that reason we want to experience how the story line unfolds for our self. We don't want to watch a video about it. For those who were expecting more videos, all I can say is you wi
I've been following this legal battle for a while, and it's giving me a headache! Being a game developer, I do understand how Paul and Fred feel about what they created with Star Control 2. That being said, I don't understand their actions over the last 15-20 years. If it was indeed their intent to someday release a sequel then (1) Why did they release the source code for SC 2 to the public back in 2002, when they should have been making the sequel? (2) Why did the not acquire the rig
Not sure if the time and way the game will unlock on September 20th has been addressed yet. Will it be a simultaneous release or local to your time zone? Simultaneous means that it unlocks as the same exact time for everyone, while local means it will unlock at a specified time for each persons time zone, which results in the game unlocking for a different time zone almost every hour somewhere. So, Stardock…. how is the game release unlocking going to happen? What is that magic
Have they given a time the game will unlock on the 20th yet? Is it the same time simultaneously or is it dependent upon your locations time? For example, if it unlocks on the 20th at midnight eastern standard time, and it is a simultaneous release, I would get it at 9PM PST on the 19th, since I am 3 hours later. If its a local release time, then I would have to wait those 3 hours until it hit midnight here.
You may need to change the beta settings in the property tab for the game, or it may reset automatically. It probably wont matter at first if both are set to the same build (beta and live). If you opt out of any beta's you will get the 'live' build. The beta build is normally used by the developer to test their changes on steam prior to making them live. I know this because I released a space game on steam last summer and I'm a game developer and programmer. The game was influenced much by th
You could always release the original Earthling Cruiser as workshop content, and then we could just replace the new one with the old one. Since workshop content is free, there should be no legal issues.
Thanks for the patch notes update. I do have a question. You mention changes to the Drenkend and Phamyst ship. In the founders version I have not seen any of these yet. The only races I have seen so far is the Tywom, Scryve and Mukay. Was this mentioned because this update also effects fleet battles, or are we getting additional content now (Out the SOL system)? Will we every seen content outside of the SOL system before the September 20th release date?

Good luck getting an answer about only getting access to chapter 1. I've asked the same question on several occasions and it seems that they are ignoring the question, so I'm guess no. I too, don't hang out on the discord channel, but would still like to see a little more of what's outside the SOL solar system. At least this time we got patch notes. It's been hit and miss with those. Pretty hard to re-test if you don't know what's changed from the previous build. Very irritating to se
This may seam like a trivial thing to the developers, but being both a game player and steam developer (Star Fleet Armada: Rogue Adventures), it's very annoying to open Steam, see a game download a new update, but then get NO information regarding the update that just happened. As a developer, I always have my patch notes done and as soon as I make the new build live, I would put the patch notes so that they showed up on the screen you see for that game. Allowing you to read the
I like the Training Facility. This will be great for players when they play their first game. I tried the 'Targeting' and 'Combat', but did not try the 'Throw everything at me'. It would be nice for the 'Combat' option to allow the player to choose from a small assortment of ships to test against. Easy, standard and hard or something similar. This will allow the training facility to be more usable later in the game. Or perhaps, once you have had an encounter with another race, you can do comb
Thanks for the reply, however it did not answer my question. So let me re-phrase the question. For those who are NOT picked for the August 9th FULL Game Beta, will there be additional chapters released prior to the September release much like the chapter that was released recently. I just want a simple yes or no. Thanks
Will there be additional chapters unlocked for the founders to play prior to game release in September?
Figured out the issue. This happens when I play the super melee while I have an xbox controller plugged in. Had a similar issue with a game I developed and released on Steam over the summer. While playing with the controller plugged in, the A and D keys did not work. As soon as I unplugged the controller they started working. I plan on using the gamepad controls when they make them available.
Playing Super Melee, single player. I can press W to thrust and use the mouse buttons to use the weapons/abilities but the A and D keys do NOT rotate the ship. Kind of hard to play without the ability to rotate. I tried other keys as well and my ship will NOT rotate.
