Nice vid. 1:04 mins in, could those craft in to the right of the building be the advent and TEC envoy ships? The second one looks a lot like the diplomacy symbol in the title.

I vote for the second one by far. The darker lighting makes the other colors pop out. The first one looks less crisp and a bit washed out to me. Put in gamma and brightness options and call it a day :)

I like the idea of bonus given according to who controls the resource rather than making them prereqs for crafting items. Made me think of watered down honey or varying metal mixtures. Controlling the mine means you can add more of that metal to your armor in turn making it better quality. As far as resource numbers are concerned, it really depends on how big an impact on gameplay they have and what the focus on the map is. Should they be important enough to fight

I didn't even realize that they do already. I guess either I don't pay close enough attention to my credits or its too little an amount to have an impact.

Great ideas. I always felt the pirates needed some boosting. 1. Make them less predictable as to where they attack. You could make them cloak or disguise themselves as friendly ships so they remain undetected until they reach the target. Star bases or scouts could detect them. 2. They should steal credits along with collecting the bounty. If you have a trade port, thier ships should be able to steal credits, metal, or crystal from you. It could be a channeling ability that can
Looking at the Beta and the current state of the game, it should be pretty clear that feb 2010 would be premature. Let this cook until ready
You have to remember though we are not seeing the latest build. I would categorize this first beta realase to us as more of a first alpha as its not evenn feature complete. Gramted the addition of all those items in the list could be littered with bugs, I would still think it w

I want to lmit the building of a ship to 1 on the playing field at a time however i can't figure out a way to do it. I though of making a building that would spawn the ship costing anitmatter. The building would have a 0 anitmatter regen so the ship could be spawned only once however that won't prevent a player from bulding multiple ship spawning buildings. Anyone have any creative ideas to do this?

Are there any good places to get entrenchment replays? All the replays on the main site seem to be either vs AI or non-entrenchment.

The gamespot score was even lower and I sorta agree with them regarding the single player experience. The game is fun, but I was expecting more then just linked skirmishes as a single player campaign. They could have added minor things that would have beefed it up alittle. For example, having a specific path of battles depending on which demigod you choose leading up to a showdown with an opposing demigod. Right now it feels like there is this huge back story that could really draw the player

You definately need a lot of patience to play the game. If you think huge maps on sins take too long to complete, its definately not the game to invest in. I gave up before I learned how to play 'correctly'. I was making something like $4-5000 an hour in game and to properly buy and outfit the lowest tier frieghter, it is like $400,000. Progress is way too slow for my tastes but the concept of the game is really cool.

It has a very steep learning curve. Personally I felt it was alittle too slow to get into. You have to make lots of cash to do most things and it takes a long time to start raking in the money. Even with thier increased speed mode I found myself waiting for time to pass more then acutally playing the game.

I was under the impression starbases would be a costly obsticle to get around and even more costly to take down. As they stand right now, it is pretty much useless to deploy them in a non-colonizable territory which defeats the purpose of making your own frontline. There are some abilities such as the administration one that prevents your planet going neutral under bombardment. I think that ability is great at forcing the enemy to take the base head on. Slow fleet movement, disrupt phase lane

I don't think starbases should prevent jumping. I do think their range should be greatly increased so at least your not going to get through a gravwell without taking some serious damage if you choose to bypass it. This is more apparent when you plant a starbase in a non-colonizable territory like a junk graveyard, gas giant, or sun. Because of the short range, they are almost useless without adding the hanger upgrades and even then they are a big expensive hanger. I could cover 1-2 phase lan

An estimate would be great! I think the reason for the backlash was because the 18th sounded like it was set in stone. If it is specifically said this next date is an estimate and it ends up being pushed back again, people would be more understanding. Well some of them would. I see the dawn of war 2 beta, the demigod beta 2, and a few others coming soon. I hope I have enough time to play test entrenchment too!

Glad to see this post. Goes to show to people how difficult QA'ing software can be and why it takes so long to release products and patches. It's also why having a beta is beneficial for everyone by finding these obscure bugs that would be difficult to discover internally.
