Question - Does team locking = no diplomacy in Sins Diplomacy?

I am just curious what effect team locking has in Sins diplomacy. Personally I play with teams locked because I don't like mission running.

Ive been wondering the same thing. locking teams also makes diplomatic research useless. I wonder if locking teams will completely void all diplomatic research completely or if some will still have a purpose?

No it does not. Diplomacy is still relevant if teams are locked.

It'll probably be like if you turn off pirates how some of the research becomes useless.  Other research still does its function though.

for the most part its probable, however a few things may be possible such as trading and cease fires. but i doubt anything major will still apply if teams are locked (which would be to keep players from teaming up through diplomacy)

Doesn't it make all diplomacy reseach pointless, if you are playing with human players?

Diplomacy cans till work even with locked teams. You will surely be unable to trade unlest you get teh trade research. By trade I mean tradeships to flyign to each other and feeding your allies with credits resorces.

Planet and ship vision could also be locked if not researched. So you wont know were you and your team is anymore. Theya re lost fo ways to make the research very relevant. They just need to amke ti so that teh diplomacy deals that give these advantages do not come into play until they are reasearched even thou the deals are already made and locked. Witht he acception for the allianve deal so you don't have people not reseachign alliance and shooting people who are supposed to be allies.

Locked teams just means no backstabbing.  Presumably all diplomacy features that don't involve making and breaking military alliances will still be applicable in locked teams.  Seeing as we don't have details as to how these features will work quite yet, it's premature to debate what exactly that means.

Darvin is spot on here.  Giving resources is now tied to a diplomacy tech. So is making a trade alliance as well as a slew of other things.  Suffice it to say, many features of Diplomacy are still applicable in locked games.

Very good to know.

Can't wait for the beta to see what more juicy details are in the diplomacy techs :dur:

I sure that even if you have locked teams there is still a mech for dip

TBH, I'm just hoping that Dimplomacy will allow me to play SP without being forced to lock teams. If I have 5 opponents who are friendly with me suddenly backstab me, I'd prefer it to be caused by something I did or by some backroom plot rather than the fact that the AI always double teams the top player in the match even while hating eachother just as much.

Thanks for clearing it up. I was afraid it would work the same as the misson research where it is still available but useless to spend resources on. Glad to know there is still some that is valid either way!

I'd like a variant on unlocked teams where there can only be a single winner.  Can all players win the current unlocked games?

Also, can we have a 'van Cleef' rule, where bounty placed by players who have quit, disco'ed or been eliminated doesn't count?  That might help prevent the players who just try to disrupt games, one reason for having alliance victories.  Not all assassins are as faithful to the grave...
