Bits of Beta feedback: I missed the line in the patch notes about the AI upgrading outposts and was very excited the first time I saw an updated one. It was a surprisingly big deal to me, as is the fact that in my 1.6 and 1.7 games the AI players are using strategic spells, which they didn't last time I played. Makes steamrolling with a single army a lot harder. The wildlands monster spawning has been interesting. They seem to pop up in occupied areas quite a lot, or at le

Came on here to report exactly this - I had three heroes and a mercenary pop up just now. Exactly as Hellions reports above except that I think one of them may have attempted to chase down one of my pioneers. Edit: have encountered a lot more and they can definitely move - not only did one waltz up to one of my outposts, but after I Tremor'd and killed it, it ran onto my outpost and destroyed it, despite being both stunned and dead. I know that that part is a separate and older bu

Yeah, I have been playing a game as The Dead and the cities I raze leave behind fertile tiles. I was able to create population farms by letting the AI resettle the area and then invading and razing again before the city was too well defended. Poor Oracle Ceresa founded three or four new Hagudsts before she finally decided being my minion was less trouble. Edit: I also support the idea of bear cities.

I updated using Nvidia GeForce Experience and that seems to have done the trick - I thought it best to try that before doing it manually since I don't entirely know what I'm doing.

Woop, it worked! It was indeed the Nvidia settings that were stopping me it seemed, forcing it to use card worked. Thank you guys! Edit: for what it's worth, I don't seem to be having any problems with choppiness or text, though I haven't had much time to play yet.

Your crash indicates the game is trying to use the Intel card which is part of the problem
I had a crack at 1, which didn't help; 2 could be the cause, will give that a go. Th

Hello, I think all the relevant information is already being sent via Steam, but would appreciate any advice if only to say my computer doesn't meet minimum specs (it's reasonably new and has a 64-bit OS, but might still be lacking in other departments) or another obvious error. Every time I launch a new game or click Quick Start, it gets part way before crashing to desktop with the message 'Galactic Civilizations III has stopped working'. This has happed on three or f

Steam 'should' collect mini-dumps and send them to Stardock automagically.
Good to know, keeps crashing to desktop when I try to start a game and I don't know how to report it. If Steam can take care of reporting that, all the better, as I haven't the foggiest what's going wrong.
But in GalCiv III, the events are XML driven (ala Elemental). Heck, that also means modders can add their own events and it means that events can have a severity scale which means they can be hooked up to a setting UI.
I'm very glad to hear this as I really like the Elemental events. In particular, I like the plague one where there are three solutions, at least one of which spawns a quest. More ways for the player to engag

Seconded. This carried through to Elemental ("a stone the size of Procipinee's ego", Trogg poetry, Mimbly, inexplicable purple ponies...) so assume we'll still get a bit of offbeat humour amidst the space operatics. Likewise the putdowns in the diplomacy screen. I never get tired of being called 'talking meat' by the Yor, and of course the murder robots from space wouldn't have mastered diplomatic language.

The improvements in Elemental have been astonishing and I wasn't disappointed in pre-ordering FE and LH, so there's a good basis for trust as far as I'

My favourite game (it was a modded one, and I have rambled on about how epic the whole game was at length elsewhere...) featured a combination of colonizing minor races and an early mega pirates event. Before the event, the minor races had anywhere from 1-3 worlds each depending on how good their start was. Once the pirates showed up and started wrecking everything, it turned out that their ships ignored minor ships and starbases while going after majors relentlessly. This had the two

Back in FE Beta I encountered a quest which spawned golems (scrap, I think - one of the kinds that's moderately tough in the early-mid game at any rate) everywhere in my empire. Caused utter chaos. As you say, opening the gate in the Master Quest releases demons everywhere, and as Glazunov1 says, some of the wildlands will launch invasions against you. I have seen it with the desert one for sure - endless numbers of wildlings and naja pouring out, which does look very epic indeed

It has happened to me too, and I may even have a save (will check) but I think it's one of those things that disappears when you reload. However it can be reliably reproduced as Das describes: every time my leading hero has died assaulting a city it has happened. Similar to another easily replicated bug in which the leading hero of an army dies but the rest of the army goes on to win, and then the whole stack gets sent home with the dead hero. If this one could be solved I guess t
