Not a game for me sadly, but i truly like the graphics, or better said art-style and the orchestral score. Well done. I might buy the game just to listen to that music, seriously.
The title music is spectacular. I often listen to it just for fun myself, and I've already heard it a million times! It was composed by Geoff Knorr, who did much of the soundtrack for Civ 5. [quote who="Gandhialf" reply="1
Is ATG a Stardock game?
It is not, though the Stardock team has certainly been quite gracious in promoting it unofficially. :) - Jon
Thanks all, glad you enjoyed the video! And although I know watching me deliberate is just incredibly entertaining, I'll try to make sure the ones I make in the future are a little more... action-packed. :P Also, happy to answer any questions you guys might have. - Jon
Thanks guys, and thanks Brad for the shout-out! Also, a congrats to my friends at Stardock on the GC3 announcement! Can't wait to give it a spin. As Brad noted, we're still early in the process but I'm very happy with the state of the game given how much time we have left. Our team has spent the first week of the alpha knocking out bugs, and we're now getting ready to shift back over to high-level gameplay issues. We've already received a ton of great feedback
Thanks! Can't wait until we can get the game out in front of people. :) - Jon
The final update before our Kickstarter campaign ends lays out the road ahead. Thanks for your support everyone!
You finally rid me of my money and got me to support this. It was the supply system that did it for me. Hey guys, just wanted to give this thread one last bump, since our campaign ends tomorrow! We're getting close to 100k and if we keep up the current pace we have a real shot at the 125k stretch goal, which adds more map/game setup options and an Earth map. If you haven't checked out the updates (lately), here are the last few I've posted: <a class="bbc_url" title="External link" href="http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jonshafer/jon-shafers-a
Yep, it's not something you want to wedge in after the fact. It was something we planned for from the very start with AtG, but it's not right for every game. - Jon
As Xia implied, I'm a huge advocate for evolving maps. They're not easy to do, as you really have to plan for them ahead of time, but they can dramatically change (and improve) the gameplay. Hell, I'll probably become known as "the evolving map guy" before all is said and done! - Jon
Weather!
Jon Shafer's At the Gates by Jon Shafer will have weather playing a major role.
*Slaps Lord Xia with a wet fish* - Jon
AtG will be available DRM-free from our website. We're hoping to release on Steam, but the game won't require it in any way. - Jon
Oh, and I forgot to mention that if we manage to hit $200k we'll be developing an expansion where you can play as the Roman Empire! - Jon
Not sure if there are any fans of these platforms around these parts, but just in case there I just announced that AtG will also be coming out on Mac and Linux, and if you contribute at least $25 you'll receive a copy of each of those plus one for Windows. We'll also be releasing an iOS version shortly after the initial launch. It's a good time to be a strategy gamer! - Jon
lool, as long as you add us kickstarter supporters to steam eventualy (like Stardockians did), Im good (You should post that on kickstarter pages - that people will get steam copy for backing it up). Romans would be great too.
Woops! I totally forgot to reply to that part of your post. I don't know if ATG will be on Steam yet, but I'm sure hoping so! If you can't or would prefer not to use Kickstarter but would st
Thanks guys!
Any moar stretch goals? Thanks again, everyone! The campaign has gone great so far, and we're about to hit our first modding-related stretch goal. :) I know some of you weren't big fans of Civ 5 and for that reason have shied away from contributing. And I can fully understand your skepticism because there's no denying that I did make mistakes. <a class="externalLink" href="http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jonshafer/jon-shafers-at-the-gates/po
Thanks for your support guys! It's great to see a 4X game get so much love and attention. I really believe that Kickstarter and smaller studios are the future of the business, and hopefully we'll be able to do our part and contribute to that. :) - Jon
Hey all! Very excited to finally announce my new game: At the Gates , a historical 4X title which takes place during the fall of the Roman Empire. Players lead a fledgling barbarian tribe trying to forge a place for itself within the new order. I’m sure some of you have noticed that ATG is coming from not Stardock, but Conifer Games. Errr... what? So I’ve act
Awesome, that's great to hear. Do you have any plans to tweak the dialog to make mutually exclusive companions easier to manage? (At least, allow them to be replaced, per my earlier suggestion, or something else along those lines). I am tempted to do another run through the scenario with different paths and companions, but I didn't take notes the first time around and I don't feel like guessing at every side quest.[/quot
Hmmm... sounds like it might be related to the issue noted in this thread . I'll see if I can find someone to take a look. :) - Jon
Thanks, this is now fixed in the first patch. - Jon
Thanks, fixed. - Jon
Thanks, fixed. - Jon
Sorry for the confusion here. I've rephrased things for the first patch, and everything relating to the quest will now use the term "Timber Warg Meat." :) - Jon
