PHEWWWW.. All these comments about over sophisticating things gives me a headache. NO...The answer is simple, really it is: The next Star Control Essentially Needs: More retro style gameplay (but with modern graphics). Though planet lander scouting was repetitious in SC2, it was nice to see the whole planet from the 3rd person perspective.(so explore this option, with a modern take on it) Bring on board Paul

Echoing Pyro and my own statement from some time ago, deeper universe building, more depth on the various races and their history with each other, and more poignant moments with those races. The biggest things I remember from SC 2 are the ones that involve the unique personality of the various races and some of the very emotional journeys you take with them (Yehat and Shofixti anyone?) I want the planet exploration to not break my wrist after playi
Really pleased this was worked out. Glad Paul was finally willing to give you a direct call to sort it out. I hope this ends the random warmongers that appeared on the forums earlier and allows both companies to continue contributing to the overall franchise (however it's split legalistically). I also hope this allows Stardock a sigh of relief and allows it to budget and plan without fear of the unknown from lawyer-dom to mess it all up. Looking forward to the new content for SCO so I can boo
I think we need a more fleshed out universe here. There needs to be more story and depth. I would say you definitely need more expansions and content before considering a SC:O 2. I don't feel like this universe is established enough to draw strong interest for a sequel yet. So focus on story/lore-heavy expansions!
Been busy with having the flu and work, only noticed this DMCA nonsense recently. I sincerely hope you're able to file a counter-claim, get the games back up on Steam/GOG, and crush them in this lawsuit. This is a horrible precedent by them and probably terrifies the entire industry. Maybe that alone will lead to some revisions in the law? ESA should be all over this lobbying congress for a change.
Quoting Starkillr, reply 13 I hope the next iteration of the game has all races animated instead of a little picture in the bottom left. That really took away from the experience for me. Agreed. A while back, someone said that
Did anybody else encounter the Pik of the Zoq-Fot-Pik on Yilfrqa in the Epsilon Indi system...? I thought SC2 creatures wouldn't be here in SCO...
Hehe, I ran into them also. Was a nice encounter. There are a bunch of other little easter eggs like that. There's a silicoid-type race (a nod to MOO?) that you can find as well. There were some random encounters that I didn't know what to do with...like that random herm
Alright, after a little less than another 20 hours, I completed the game. There may be some spoilers here, so don't read if you haven't finished the game. Had a few more thoughts: It would be nice if once you found a Maelnari trader, they would all update with the items of the other traders so you don't have to visit a specific one for a specific item It would also be helpful if they mentioned that they tend to hang out near large main stars (like in S
Not sure if you fixed this as part of the Arcturus fix, but the Maelnari trading ship is stuck in the star and is inaccessible.
That is exactly that happened. My first officer gave me a warning that the Scryve were defending this system more than normal and that we should leave. But, when I started to leave, I could see a Juggernaut within the system, but outside the hyper limit. I headed towards it and got more than I bargained for when I entered hyperspace.
Probably screwed :( I have a similar problem in unknown space wher
I went deep into Scryve space to try out my suped up Vindicator. After slaughtering about 30 guys in the system, I decided to leave. Upon leaving the system, however, I was greeted by an enemy ship. Upon killing that ship, I immediately had to fight another ship. An hour or two and hundreds of dead Scryve ships later, I am still locked in an endless loop. Unfortunately, I have no saves to go back to. I guess there goes 12 hours.&
I have reached the end game and also have most of the modules mentioned. Still don't like it. The Heat Shield MK3 is insufficient for some hot worlds you need another heat shield on top of that one to explore some hot worlds.
Not sure what you're talking about. 100% heat protection is granted by the MK 3 heat shield. No more is required unless you found a bug. Flaming rocks you'll never be protec
Oh you'd be bummed to know that at one point my cargo space was at 6k lol. Francium seems to be the only thing to keep. Rest can be sold.
Huh........I'll tell you what is broken about that quest. The fact that you can open the Origin WITHOUT having progressed with the Phamysht. The Mu'kay won't continue the quest line once our freakish friends appear. There needs to be a blocker on the Origin doing it's thing w/o having first talked to the Phamysht successfully. Kind of ruined the game a bit for me. I'll have to restart before I visited that planet at some point so I can do the order of events properly. Kind of don't want to th
Please let us discard unwanted ressources (if you have cheap ressources and are almost full and stumble upon a treasure planet, you can't just dump the ammonia&co into space right now...)
^ This. I forgot to mention that issue. In SC2 you could always dump resources if you found an amazing planet and didn't want to keep any 1 RU resources in your hold any more. Also agree it would be nice to store purple resources at
I also have a GTX 970 and have had minor crashing issues. I think the latest build + latest nvidia drivers largely minimized them. I think I had to kill the game twice in a long play session. Wasn't too bad, was very annoying. Typically happened when I was transitioning from one thing to another (i.e. finishing a battle, landing on a planet, talking to someone, etc).
I won't lie, I did wish that I had a Space Balls style vacuum to suck up all the resources from a planet...just imagining it, would be so epic and hilarious. Another thing, orbital bombardment of drones/towers would be nice. Kind of gets old dealing with those.
No one wants to chase them around...in SC2, they would stay in a solar system, but you could call them once you found a certain item later. I'm ok with the system they have here.
I have a whole host I just put up in my first 20 hours impression thread. Didn't notice this when I posted mine! Hope there are more QoL coming, it's needed.
I finally decided to dive into the game a bit. I was feeling really lethargic on Saturday and wanted something familiar that didn't require any brainpower. Usually that's Civ 5, but that night it was jumping into SC:O. After gaming through the entire night (haven't done that in a while), I came up with a list of things I wanted changed or improved. Also, I wasn't impressed with the progress I made for the time given...aka there are a lot of inefficiencies with the game mechanics. 1) I
My game just crashed after my first battle with the Kvanti or whatever they are called. Dude ran into the outer edge of the arena to die and well....boom went the game. Disappointing.
Looking forward to installing it this weekend...
I have this unfortunate distraction that prevents me from playing the game on release called "work". I'm sure I'll be able to try it out after it though!
^Could we please not turn every thread about the lawsuit, we already have one. I haven't finished Kessari yet, still have to deal with the Eternal Ones. But one thing I have to add is that the fight against the leader of Hegemonic Crux, Plextor or whatever his name is, was anticlimactic, especially when compared to the other battles in the game. What I would have done is had him have ships in his fleep from spec
