I was trying to demolish a building in the city when I clicked "yes" on the popup the game crashed. I was demolishing a hut in case that matters. Dump: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6399047/Elemental0_302-2010-04-26T03-33-07-307.zip debug: http://pastebin.com/kiUUaecc
I am kinda cofused to be honest. In the first 4-5 games I was crashing occasionally, after that I started a new game with the exact same settings, I had no CTDs in that game. I abandoned that game after ~400 turns, and started a new one...again with the same settings. Guess what? CTD again. Weird. John, you had no CTDs at all in your games with .302?
Yea I know what you mean. It's a bit spara
Couldn't we just toggle in-between overlays? Doesn't seem complicated to me but then again, I'm not always the brightest light.
It would require a major overhaul of the engine. Going from squares to hexes is not that simple. Just look at the Civ5 screens and how the terrain is molded to fix hexes. They would have to change all the map drawing graphics, city borders, and so on to handle hexes. Not to mention
Do they ADD or STACK the BONUSES associated with the Buildings?
What do you mean? Currently say you have a brand new L1 city. Well it can only build 1 merchant. So if you want to build a 2nd merchant in that town you need to level up the city to L2. So if you only have 1 merchant your only getting 1 Gold per turn where as if you have 2 merchants your getting 2 Gold per turn. So they stack in that regrad if that's what you

The Arcane Academy has no resource cost and actually has a 0 on space it takes up. In later games in cities that are completely surrounded with no more spaces I've been able to lay down Arcane Academies. But when they are placed on the map they seem to attach to other cities and all stack in the same place. It's a very fickle bug that's hard to reproduce when placing Academies in cities with no room. Sometimes it does it other times it won't. If I track down more on that part of bug I

It happen again in another game. I have the save for another bug report but it was 1 turn away from Civic tech so I figured I'd test it and sure enough upgrading to housing caused a CTD.
They're not supposed to, but aren't we talking about a bug?
Yea but city level remains. Number of usable spaces remain. And population amount remains unless it was houses that vanished in which case it only drops if population was at cap. There was a bug before when cities leveled up they would drop some population right after level even if they had plenty of room. That seems to have been fixed in 0.302 as city
If I remember correctly from the .302 change log, town halls were changed so that they required a certain size town before you could build them. If all your huts disappear, and the population drops to 20, maybe it has dropped below the level at which a town hall is allowed.
Cities don't de-level and have no penalty for dropping below population.

The game didn't crash. It was one of those times that it froze when I hit the end turn button. I tend to give it about 5 minutes of "freeze" time to see if it's just taking a long time to do something. But part of the way I can tell it's locked up is it won't let me bring up the Options with Esc or scroll the map by moving the cursor to the edge. The issue with the buildings stuck in construction limbo though happen after I loaded the game and I can seem to play it fine otherwise. I'm

Ah well the buildings that aren't perfect squares was kind of a last min toss in which is why it was in my 2nd post. The original idea was just to stick with 1x1, 2x2, and 3x3. And mainly to move up to 3x3 to reduce all the spaghetti cities. While trying to avoid going the route it seems that it was inevitably going to take. Which was less spaces to build with, and has already happen now in newest patch. :P
Weird, so it's a CTD followed by a lock-up? Haven't seen anything like that so far.
Well my guess is when it CTD there is a debug program that generates the dump files. Probably something during the crash caused the dump file generator to lockup.

Good news... I suppose. I loaded my auto save and only a few turns away I picked the Housing Tech R&D and it crashed again! That means it's repeatable hehe. Well good news for tracking down the bug that is. Dump: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6399047/Elemental0_302-2010-04-24T05-30-54-211.zip debug.err: http://pastebin.com/cmuqgK6t M

The research window appeared and I choosing housing then hit Ok and the game CTD. I had a large number of huts which would of potential upgraded to houses so not sure if that contributed to it. When I load my game it the buildings that provide % bonuses don't say what they produce or have incorrect information. The tax office for example says it produces 1 gold, while the warehouse is just blank where is should list that it reduces by 20% construction time. I'm not sure if it's caused by some error in the current game or if it applies to any loaded game. I'm including the save game file which is also the same save as the other bug report issue regarding buildings stuck in co
