I'm working on creating a Map using Galaxy Forge and I was wondering is there a way to quickly set a bunch of phase lanes to the same Spawn Probability. I want the map layout to be somewhat random so I'm going to set a bunch of the lanes to only spawn some of the times. But doing it for a large map is very time consuming because of all the phase lanes. The other issue is I found some planets get really bad luck and end up with no phase lanes to them. Just curious but is there

Is there any guides that explain the differences in the various racial tech trees? I've found graphs of them online but if you don't know the techs that doesn't help much and it doesn't really explain the differences. I've read some forum entries and it sounds like curtain trees cost more for some items as well as are missing techs so those trees can't get as many bonuses in some reason. So I was wondering if there was a break down of the various trees giving b

I thought the point of tech trading was to help out those Civs that were not as advanced get more tech. In most 4x games I like to go heavy econ and science which often results in me having more tech then the AI. In those that allow tech trading I often sell off my techs for whatever I might need or want at the time. However in harder games when I can't keep my science up as much I often find that trading for techs is only way to keep up. People talk about Civ5 not allowing tech t

I agree with the don't release the game too early point however I never felt that Elemental suffered from an early release. The game felt like it had a distinct lack of direction. You can release a game really early in it's development, and there have been several that do it well, but the game needs a really strong sense of direction based on the developer's vision. Features and mechanics can be tweaked or dropped along the way to make the game better but adding new featur

A hour may have been my longest turn and even that is probably stretching it. I just can't think of wha

I agree that the UP style mechanic needs an update. I absolutely hate how UP/UN/etc mechanics are done in the vast majority of games. They are completely unrealistic and I feel detract from the feel of running an empire when some 3rd party can just dictate how you run your empire with no recourse. If someone makes a demand through normal diplomatic channels you can just ignore them with possibility of war to put them in their place. I mean look at the real world, just because

I am all for adding more more depth to the game. However when it comes to games like Distant Worlds I felt like it was completely overboard on the micromanagement to the point that you had to setup so much "automated" stuff it felt like the game was playing it self. So if you liked sitting back and watching a galaxy sim then it could be fun. I however prefer a strategy game, like chess, where I am in control of the pieces and not hoping they choose to do what is best for your empire.

The Outpost idea seems to clearly be a copy of their Mechanic from GalCiv2. Even Frogboy did a supposed slip reference as a joke in the original post about the outpost upgrade system. I say if you are going to take an idea that worked previously then take the whole idea not just part of it. That being said I don't think there is anything wrong with it but I think they should actually fully copy it's mechanics. Use Pioneers to upgrade the outpost and resources in

The major difference is Cave Dog didn't give a sequel to the game like everyone wanted. Where as Ironclad is giving us a sequel and it's only months away from release. SoSE: Rebellion IS SoSE2. Not everything has to follow the Game, Game 2, Game 3, and etc naming convention. They can work on both at the same time and it's not like they have abandon support for it the way Cavedog did with TA. Also I don't see how this thread can be useful in any sense. I just re

So it seems our friendly Stardock is not the only one who has release day crash issues. There are a lot of people in the various Civ5 forums reporting their games crash after only 10-20 mins. I know Elemental has had some crash and out of memory issues but those tend to happen after hours of play not minutes. Stardock is a smaller developer so we tend to over look those kind of things more but it's just sad when a big studio devoted to a major franchise does it, especially when you consider m

I figured this thread was a great place to post this give it's title. So the my friend who lives in Missouri calls me up today to tell me the store near by broke street date on Civ 5. But because it requires a steam activation he still can't play it. He's sitting there stuck with a copy of a game he's already paid for that he can't play because of some stupid DRM. Actually this sounds like like Fame in MoM. Capturing cities and such earned you fame while lossing them lost you fame. The more fame you had the more people would approach you to sell you items, heroes looking for work, and so on. The Heroes you had didn't really contribute their stats to your fame score but it was still a global stat that would effect how popular you were.

It's getting very annoying that about every other military tech I research the game says a "New Unit is Available". Not to mention it's terrible at naming the unit. It's quite annoying when I got 5 unit designs and 3 are named Duke but all 5 of them have the SAME STATS. The AI tries to design a new unit everytime you get a few new military techs but it simply designs the SAME unit that you had before since no new equipment was researched. Not to mention it would be nice to have some consisten

There is so much in MoM it's gonna be hard to cover it all but I'll try to be brief as well as descriptive so you know what I'm referring to. Leader Customization This is one of the places MoM really shined because based on what you picked would determine a lot of how you played the game. You could choose between 5 Schools of magic Nature, Chaos, Life, Death, and Sorcery. Unlike Elemental you could take up to 11 Books in each area and the number

I thought the whole article was kinda blah. I mean they basically were saying the more companies should got the small game up front with lots of DLC route. Which personally I hate. When I play a game I like to play all the way through it. Not play part of it then wait 2-3 months to play another part then so on. I know games like Dragon Age and such made a bit of money off their DLC but personal I never got any of it cause by the time it came out I had already beaten the game and didn't feel l
