Unfortunately, I have to agree that the lander minigame is... not fun. I don't find it overly difficult per se... it just feels unnecessary and superfluous because it's not so much a game as it is merely a barrier. I almost think it would be a better idea to automate the landing, but require certain technology upgrades just to be able to land on certain types of planets. Don't have the right equipment... you can't land there yet. The whole "land on this target or you take dam
Quoting Frogboy, reply 97 Landing on planets with weather will knock you off. We should probably have a warning on that. @Frogboy - Agreed. The first time you come to a planet with heavier weather, there should be a first officer pop

Some of the art and textures look very blurry and/or pixelated at 4K. The Tywom’s ship background art for instance, as well as Saturns rings, and character textures in dialog. At 4K there is a line running horizontally through the middle of the screen when talking to the Tywom.

I didn’t realize the “fog” on some planets/moons was dangerous until I destroyed all my landers. Oops. Maybe its just that I’m running the game in 4K on a giant TV screen but they didn’t/don’t register as storms to me. After destroying all my landers I became stuck in the game, forcing a restart because you can’t progress with zero landers and no money to buy more. Whoops. I was a little annoyed that the base on the moon didn&r
Is the lander games purpose to soley collect resources? I think it would add more depth to the lander game if you happen to encounter hostiles of maybe the hostile faction in the game if there is one. Also at the same time pushing for a reason to upgrade your lander. Another cool thing would be if you could scan for anomalies and send your lander to investigate. Sorry if this was said before me, just downloaded it

The new universe exploration view with realistic planets gets a big old HELL YES from me. That feels like space, and I love it. That said, I am very, very, very much not a fan of the planetary exploration shown in the latest video. So Mars is a tiny, dizzying asteroid now? Besides genuinely making me feel dizzy and disoriented, the sense of scale in the video is abominable. It doesn't look or feel like an intentional exaggeration... it's like you just don't care. I understa

I agree. At the very beginning I was concerned when they teased us that incredible piece of concept art, only to say "This is what we're NOT doing" only to do exactly the opposite of that. To me, this style doesn't even really look "Pixar" (I'd be fine with that, tbh) - it looks unfinished; like placeholder art. I had the exact same problem with Elemental, tbh, and I'm disappointed to see Stardock turning this into a tradition. In this case, at least, the g

I pretty much agree on all points. I hate those planets... and the planetary exploration concept video a couple months ago outright made me physically nauseous. The exaggerated look, especially from space, needs to be dialed way, way back IMO. Maybe planets should look more "realistic" until a scan is performed, revealing exaggerated details in more of a "holographic" style?

So I just watched the final teaser ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6ntg47q_cM ) and one thing bothered me... the planet was so small, it's curvature so exaggerated, that I felt a little dizzy just watching that. It would possibly make me feel physically ill were I playing. I'd strongly suggest making the planets bigger so that traveling around on them isn't so trippy and disorienting.

I very, very, very strongly dislike the "You can trust him" animation. It doesn't look like an alien so much as an emoji. Pair that with spaceships (see: the concept art included in April Vault letter) that look like GI Joe toys I would have owned in the 80s and things aren't looking very promising at all. I dig the squid-alien from a couple vaults back, but I strongly dislike the planets, love the "rejected" realistic UI concept art (other than the alien being too hu
By the same token, I am slightly concerned about the cartoony planets. I was not expecting that *at all.* That being said, I can't wait to see them and see how they work. I trust that SD knows what they're doing, and I look forward to adjusting to it.
Ditto. I know a lot of people on here think of Star Control as always having been "cartoony" but I was actually surprised by that. I never really thought

I just read the November founders PDF and have a few thoughts/concerns on the art direction. One of the stated goals is that Frogboy doesn't want to go "too realistic" with the art or aliens. I'm concerned by this, because the concept art I'm seeing in the first download skews very Pixar/Dreamworks with hints of Spore (e.g. Tywom_max_render.jpg or the planet concepts). This absolutely positively is not a di

Frogboy, I don't trust GameStop at all - but I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt for now by not cancelling all my preorders. However, beyond my preorders, there's no way I'll drop another dime on Impulse until I see how this all shakes out. I want to trust your optimism, but StarDock cares about their customers where GameStop cares only about their bottom line. Even if Impulse is managed as an independent division, there's no guarantee that Gamestop won't shut them do

I just want to add my voice to the others in saying that you should either leaves quests in (and all the other multiplayer features), or ditch multiplayer entirely. Far too many times I've seen developers get so paranoid about having "balanced" multiplayer, that it ends up being a stale, shallow shadow it's single-player counterpart. Furthermore, I don't see any other reason that quests wouldn't be workable in multiplayer - the Europa Universalis games have similar features (in the form of ev

I don't take anything posted on a forum seriously - so "professionalism" doesn't factor into it for me, at all. That said, I think the game is fantastic - but I can see how it might be perceived as "feeling" like a beta. It's the artwork. The UI designs are good, clean, well organized, and work well - but visually the UI is universally flat , uninteresting, and way too colorful - seeming more like comp designs than finished UI. Give them some texture, make the pal

Ok, here's what's going on (for others who run into this) - the S&H is "preliminary" until you log in for the checkout. Once you log in and get to the final checkout screen, it knows whether or not to charge the S&H. In my case, when I got to the final Confirmation page, it dropped the additional S&H and only charged me the bare $20. I assume it works this way to allow customers who pre-ordered digital-only versions to easily upgrade to the LE (which is a physical product

I pre-ordered Elemental... oh man, forever ago - the digital + boxed version. Now I want to upgrade to the Limited Edition, which is apparently +$20. I'm cool with that, but when I get to checkout, it wants to add $10 for s&h... which was already part of my original order (making total S&H after upgrade $20). Am I understanding this right?
Looking at the Beta and the current state of the game, it should be pretty clear that feb 2010 would be premature. Let this cook until ready
I'm with Joasoze on this. :D
