Your friend was right, in a way, but maybe she was teasing you a bit. WinXP ships with several colour schemes, wherever you are, including a silver one, but the blue one (Luna) is the default. Open up Display Properties, click on the Appearance tab, and try out the different options in the Colour Scheme drop-down list.

Not sure what you're getting at joe... I don't use the Office Shortcut Bar myself (and at the moment I am on a machine at work that doesn't have it installed) but AFAIK the only connection it has with screensavers is that you can put a button on there that will immediately launch your default screensaver. I don't know if it will help our 'bold' friend to get his screensaver installed...

Depends on the type of file you downloaded - check the extension in the file name: .exe This will be an install program that will do everything automatically. Just double-click it. .scr This is the actual screensaver executable file. Copy it to your Windows directory. .zip Extract the zip file using WinZip or similar. Interesting that Mac Observer chose to quote some parts of the Register article, but not the bit that says "... even on old hardware ... WindowFX performs snappily. Which is more than can be said for Aqua on all but the latest Apple hardware". I suppose their brains just filtered that line out as it did not fit with their view of the world.

Have you installed Component Manager on your own computer yet? If not, you should do so. You can get it from https://www.stardock.com/products/odnt/cm.html Then copy all the .cab and .cab.cmi files that you burned onto CD into the Component Manager directory. WindowBlinds will automatically change the appearance of the taskbar, or try using ObjectBar which has more skinning and customising options. With DesktopX you can hide the taskbar completely, and also the desktop icons if you wish. These options are in the Theme Settings section of the DesktopX Configuration dialog. I have Object Desktop, which I run on a 3 year old IBM Thinkpad 600E, PII 366 with 128Mb RAM and Windows 2000. WindowBlinds runs fine (although sometimes I get some strange artefacts like buttons losing their skin or random scroll bars appearing in the middle of windows!) as does ObjectBar, DesktopX and CursorXP. WindowFX is a total non-starter however, it really does slow things down and some effects won't work at all. I think the key factor is not the processor or memory, bu

It is a standard feature of Object Bar - I use it all the time, with a customised bar layout. Not all WB skins seem to work with it though. Some do not convert at all and some finish up looking a little strange. It seems skins with XP support are most likely to work, but that is no guarantee. I have often wondered why that is, perhaps someone could enlighten us?
