Just got new updates to WB and DX. BSODeath problem gone. Will be checking out the DX probs and see ifn the latest update solved them...WB 4.29c[rc]003 and DX 2.19a(b)002. Stand by to stand by.......

Wendi and anyone else who cares...Stardock just informed me of updates to WBlinds and DesktopX. Allowed them to update, rebooted as instructed, and I'm back! Problems seem to be repaired as far as the BSODeath is concerned. Have yet to check out the DX problems from last update, heading to that after this but, hopefully, the Stardock programmers found the errors and corrected them for us. Stardock just sent me info that WB has been updated to 4.29(a)RC002. I let SDC update and upon system reboot, BLACK SCREEN and Windows DON'T LOAD!!!! Additionally, after I reverted my system, when I loaded DX, received error that "DX didn't shut down properly, start with new theme or try to load requested theme?". I dunno what the hell is going on with Stardock but, now I'm havin' problems with DX, WB, and my entire system!!! Bootskin works but, I then get a black screen and nothing happens!

Since the last update of DX (27 Mar, 2.19(b)003), everytime I change something using the DX config window (like theme walls), the change has occured but, the config window will not close. Only way out is kill DX and reload. Prior to the 003 update, didn't have this problem. Additionally, when trying to save a theme, DX is taking about 120% longer than previously (prior to 003 update). Have experienced same problem. Fault was with a particular skin in which (for bootskin only) the author had made the wall more than alloted colors. Logon problems occured when skin author DID NOT have required .bmps and didn't change the uifile data appropriately. I'm not an expert these are facts of what happened to me/my system. With the latest DX update (2.19(b)003) of 27 March, when I try and change the wallpaper for a theme using the DX config window, the wallpaper changes but, after pressing the OK, the DX config window remains on screen. In the sysmetrix configuration file, look for a line "generic text". It'll have the "f" there. Just move your cursor to the box, erase the "f" and type in whatever it is you want...

KonaI started using Trillian when I was in Saudi. At that time, and in THAT place, it was the ONLY IM that the Saudis couldn't block. Folks with AOL and MSN couldn't even access their systems because of the frickin' Saudi censorship!! THAT still exists! File transfers problem belongs to MSN, NOT Trillian! Microsoft, in their inimitable moronic fashion keep putting blockers in order to "protect" their customers, thus the file xfer problems. IMHO, Trillian is a must have and with the plugins

Ok folks, just noticed. Seems I might be too impatient. Came out of standby and WB redrew okay. Guess I didn't wait for it long enough. Didn't have to re-load the skin. Hopefully, my impatience is the majority of the problem?? Frogboy, Yes, using 4.2. Seems like more than just TGA types not redrawing though. I guess, from what I've read, that Standby ain't the way to go! How about Hibernating?? I haven't tried that; but, will, and see ifn I got the same probs with WB. My DX and ODock, Trillian, and rainlendar all come back ok; just WB, and not all of it. Hey there. Let me preface this by stating I'm no expert; but, I have found that whenever I use a theme with network statistics objects in it, my CPU useage, like yours, jumps up quite a bit. I have a P4 1.8Ghz WinXP with Nvidia Gforce 2MX200 card with 32mb of ram and system ram of 512mb. When I've turned off/deleted the net stats objects in a theme, my cpu useage drops back to normal (.5-5%) for my system. Not to degrade DX; but, I prefer using Sysmetrix for system info. I'm an OD purchaser/user/subscriber. Have noticed a problem lately on my system. Dunno if it's a global prob with WB4 or not; but, whenever I put my system into standby and reactivate a few hours later, portions of my WB skin (XP Start Panel, Drop down menus, and some program windows) do not come back on line. Don't know ifn this will help you or not; but, you could run Object Dock with a set of icons, then run Y's DOCK with another set of icons. Hus: I've deleted files in the "thumbs cache" directory within the "themes" directory of the DX directory. Re downloaded desired theme from WC then reloaded the theme. Lately, when using DX (I've got the latest version and am an OD owner) I've noticed a couple of problems requiring assistance. When using a theme (doesn't matter which one) and I unload DX for shutting down, my desktop background goes blank. Then, when I start up DX again, it'll go to the last theme; but, the theme isn't all there. I have to re-load the desired theme again! Why is this happening? Second problem.
