SOOO glad to see that Stardock is caving to VISTA! That's sarcasm folks! This version of WB doesn't work correctly in IE7, EVEN though promises were made that the animations of WB WOULD work in IE 7 with the release of 5.5. Well, skinners, quit wastin' ur time with the animations for your beautiful creations, cause they don't work in IE7!!! Still!! What's up with that STARDOCK??????
Maggot
The only part of Window Blinds 5 that DOES NOT WORK with IE7 according to Stardock is the animations and toolbar icons as IE7 doesn't allow third party skinning of these areas as yet and Stardock is aware of the problem and working on it; but.......If you're not getting ANYTHING skinned on IE7, then the problem is possibly that your copy of WB is the free version. That is limited and doesn't skin stuff or so I understand. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc/smiles/Yum.gif" border=0 ALIGN=
Well, appears Mr. Banfield has answered my question. I have yet to receive any response from the techies at Stardock email; but, since Neil is Stardock, guess the problem's been identified and being worked on, so, thanks for the info and looking forward to a fully operational WB.
As usual, people lose sight of the SOURCE of problems and concentrate solely on the RESULTS of those problems. The Middle East and Mediterranean areas are hotbeds of racism and have been for the rememberable history of mankind. It's NOT going to ever change! Greeks will ALWAYS hate Turks (thanks to Ottoman Empire), Arabs will ALWAYS hate JEWS! There are lots and lots of historical factors that have contributed to both sides of the "problems", pro and con; but, the "problems" are still around
Bebi Bulma--aggravation is NOT misplaced. Stardock created WB and it should work. If it doesn't because IE7 doesn't allow it, then Stardock support should at least look into the problem and post an answer of some sort to the more-than-a-week old email questioning the fact.
Yep, same situation for me, got a laptop and desktop. WB5 animations not working on IE7 on either machine, regardless of skin used; EXCEPT for the progress bar, which is working. The animations do work on both machines with Windows Explorer ONLY. Oh yeah, my stuff is paid for too and up to date!
To Anyone who gives a crap: I sent an email to support at stardock over a week ago. Got the automated response and that's all so far; however, have read somewhere that IE7 WILL NOT ALLOW any 3rd PARTY SOFTWARE to SKIN its windows, so......just waitin' on Stardock for a response. Guess everyone's busy with the WinCustomized change, CES, and all other bull. Did notice that the progress bar of the applied skin DOES work in IE7; but, the animations themselves DO NOT, regardless of skin applied.
Thanks. I was thinking maybe that would be the way to go as well; but, wanted to avoid it if there was another way. I had WB running when IE7 was installed, so I guess that may have caused the problem and an uninstall/reinstall of WB is probably the only way out of it! Damn. Posted this here as someone over on the chats said maybe the devs at WB didn't know about this problem yet and that IE7's animations are controlled by it and possibly NOT changeable using WB. Oh well....... <a
I have the latest edition of Window Blinds installed. Recently I installed Microsoft's Internet Explorer 7 and now, the animations in any Window blind skin for downloading, deleting, etc. don't function when in IE7; but when in explorer they do. Why? What setting needs to be changed. I didn't have a problem with this when using IE6.....
I installed IE7 on my computer (a 1.8ghz Pentium IV with 512mb Ram, Windows XP professional SP2 and a Nvidia video card with 32mb ram) and ever since, the animations of any Window Blind skin applied (I have WB5) no longer function in IE7; however, they are applied and function when using Explorer. Is this a known problem with Internet Explorer 7 and Window Blinds? Is there a fix??
Hey ya all, just writing to say I have the same problem; but, only if I use a Vista style Window Blinds skin that has the "search" bar at the bottom of the start menu and the logoff/turnoff texts show up in that search bar because the buttons on the Vista style skin don't function. I am using a WB skin now called YAFCV3 that I got over on Deviantart.com and that author includes info on how to hack your explorer.exe so that the Vista sytle buttons func
The cookie thingie no workie here, on IE6 OR Firefox!
Just a P.S. to 24 above, No joy on Firefox either and this problem did not start until today 12 April 06. Up until then was not having any problems with WC keeping me logged in.....
Also having same login problem as in 22 and 23 above. Did same things as in 22; but, still won't remain logged in after closing browser, returning later. Using IE6 also. Did not try it on Firefox, perhaps I should eh???
As of today, version 2.30.395 was made available and it updated itself like it used to. Perhaps the code boys (and girls) at Stardock got the problem fixed. Let's hope so......
Hey guys, just saw this post and wanted to advise ya'll that I'm havin same problem. Tried switching servers after reinstalling SDC per ZUBAZ and I did get an update to SDC from the Chicago server---ONCE! Today, 2.30.388 was available and when I clicked on the bubble message, SDC opens up; but NOTHING GOT UPDATED!!! Just FYI!! <img src="http://images3.stardock
Sir Zubaz, I tried your recommendation and it did in fact update, ONCE! Today, version 2.30.388 was available for update. I clicked on the bubble message and Stardock Central opened; but, NO UPDATE rendered! I switched from the California server to the Chicago server and got same result for the update of Stardock Central----NOTHING!!! And regarding your quip about buying games, NO FRIKKIN WAY!!!! I never had a problem with Stardock Central upgradi
Ever since the release of Galactic Civilizations 2, every time I'm notified that there is an update to Stardock Central (via the SDC system tray icon & bubble msg); SDC fails to do the update; but, it goes to Stardock Central and DOES list updates to installed problems. I've notified Stardock and the only response I had was to perform the "remove.bat", reboot my system, and reinstall Stardock Central. I performed all steps; but as soon as I activate
Hi there! I'm having a somewhat similar problem; but, mine is that the titlebar for a particular skin(any skin used actually with WB5) does not show up in the selected skin, only WIN Classic mode. The rest of the window appears to take to the skin though; just no titlebars. I'm using a Toshiba Satellite with ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 IGP video with 64mb ram. Computer is Win XP Home SP2 and has total of 512mb memory and is a 2.8ghz Pentium IV. <img s
Ok, SDC just got upgraded to "c" version and all works ok now......Thanks for the speed Stardock!
Well, just another "I've got the same problem" addition. Crashes on "Updating network and application information". Why aren't these releases checked out BEFORE sending to the public, paying customer???
Neil, I dunno. Both DesktopX and my widgets were working before I upgraded the WB to 4.59; so, that's all I've got to go by as of now. Didn't have any other problems, except for a Windows error on shutdown after install of 4.59. The error had to do with the windows services (general). A second shutdown and no windows errors; but DesktopX nor widgets working still......
Just upgrade to WB 4.59. Now, can't load Desktop X nor even a weather widget. Just get errors stating that DesktopX has encountered a problem and must shut down OR dxwidget.exe has encountered a problem and must shut down. Possible active x contol prob? I need help fixing this....
I just upgraded my Window Blinds to the latest (4.59). Now, Desktop X errors out and I can't even launch weather widgets. Get errors stating that DesktopX has encountered a problem and must shut down or dxwidget.exe has encountered a problem and must shut down. Any clues? Seems like maybe active x controls involved; but, I'm too much of a newbie to fix it. Can it be done? How?
Ok, read some other stuff and found out problem. Gotta get into "builder", then edit stuff. Glad that's fixed!
