Nice, can you now please also fix the issue of various graphical effects such as warp tunnels, and weapon effects disappearing later on in long games? This has plagued Sins since it's inception and it's disappointing that it's still not been addressed. Having half the graphical and particle effects missing really diminishes the game and makes me less likely to come back and finish a save game.

Lets just hope that SC2 is written with multi-core processing in mind from the start. I don't want to have to use some third party optimiser tool to try and spread the load across the cores like I did with SC1 and FA.

Ignore the word "doesn't" in the first sentence. A shame the edit button doesnt work. Get an access denied error in the script below. http://islanddog.impulsedriven.net/js/tinymce/tiny_mce.js

I too will be avoiding any product containing SecuROM. It's a shame too, I really wanted to play Red Alert 3 after I participated in the beta. A shame EA doesn't wants to treat the paying customers as potential pirates. Lets get one thing clear. DRM does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to stop all but the most casual of piracy. Any pirate who wants to copy the game and distribute it is going to do so, and they'll also end up with a nice clean version not containing any DRM. The paying customers on

We can't undercut our publishing partners, it makes them unhappy.
Rubbish. Entrenchment on it's own will not be available at retail and hence will not be published by Kalypso. It's published directly through Impulse (Stardock). Kalypso are not involved. Next excuse?

Why bother with a boxed version? Once you install the game you need to install Impulse to keep it up to data anyway, so you might as well go for the convenience of having it on download and save the cost of P&P (not to mention the environment).

Just to be clear, my one and only gripe is that most places don't charge you for pre-orders, so I was a little surprised when Impulse did. Most online stores take your details, then charge your card when the product comes into stock. I didn't know I would be getting the beta copy immediately and was surprised to see the game listed on the "My Games" tab after I had just pre-ordered it a few days before the (then) release date of Jan 1st. I figured they'd just released the game early

For me personally, my main gripe was that they took the money for what was a preorder, so essentially I had paid for a beta. The majority of online stores don't take the money for pre-orders until the product is shipped. To do otherwise without explicity saying so is bad practice if you ask me.
The point you missed is that the 1-1-09 date was never a real date and they said so for months. If you ordered your game based on that, then its your fault for not reading the release notes or the official statements, which made the situation perfectly clear. Point is, you paid for what was already announced to be a beta release (using your own statements from above no less) without doing your own homework.&nbs
Let me put it this way: You have been given a chance to help beta test a game that you already like. People would give body parts to be part of the beta process of a game. Look at the fervor over beta status from WoW, Age of Conan, and other games and you will see that this is a cool chance to be part of the development process (this is how the space ponies achievement came into being in the first place).
Get a clue

Are Impulse and SoaSE both installed in their default folders? What version of Windows are you running? Have you tried using the alternate (legacy) download method? Are you running any firewall on your machine? If so, have you added Impulse to it's exception list?

Sigh.... this game suffers from more slippage than my underpants. Also waiting until the release date to announce a delay is just plain wrong. Ironclad and Stardock clearly knew long before the 1st Jan that it wasn't going to make the 1st of Jan so why keep people in a state of expectation then let them down at the last minute? Thats just not fair on your customers, so get a grip please!

Hi there I just bought Sins through Impulse, however when I look at my registration information, it shows an expiry date of one year from now. 08/08/09. Forgive the n00bish questions, but what is this expiry for? What will expire on that date? Will I no longer be able to play the game after that date? Cheers. Ryan

When will games companies get it through their collective heads that any kids of DRM and/or copy protection on games only does one thing. Piss off your customers and causes a reduction in sales. The pirates will always find a way to hack out your copy protection and activation routines and play it anyway. Anyone intent on getting a game for free will do so, no matter the level of copy protection or DRM. Please recognise this before you drive away ALL of your paying customers by

Every time I click on my desktop to give it focus, my Windows Live Messenger goes into "Busy" mode. It stays in busy until I click on part of the Vista interface (start menu for instance) or another application.. I know that dreamscene and deskscapes are technically full screen applications that run through DirectX (I think anyway) so maybe that is what is confusing Windows Live Messenger. It does go to busy when you start a full-screen game for example. Who knows.
