Yikes yeah I got stung by that one, didn't check since the Hyperspace ringtone happened! Got distracted by other things and to my disservice, fell behind! Plus side is, most of the things I'd comment on appear to have been addressed so a small victory for being lazy!

Will the game nessecarily have multiple endings? I'm not sure thats totally nessecary to the Starcontrol experience unless I've missed something, I'm for evil being punished as well, I mean you were penalised for selling crew to the druuge in 2 and such, I'm articulating badly I think. I suppose we're all on a quest for satisfying ending(s) I find it satisfying when evil is penalised.

Love the little Mukay thing though I'll admit the blinking kinda threw me and not a massive fan of the moustache, both seemed a little too human to me, which contrasted with the rest of their design if you're in the mood to take requests maybe we could see one using a console? I'm kind of curious how their technology works and they interact with their enviroment. On the whole though I'm excited to see them, I hope my comments betray more excitement and l

So ah, just something I was wanting to clear up here with the ringtones, surely actually using them on our phones would be a violation of the NDA as written? I'd assume that we've got a wee bit of a pass on this one but just wanting a concrete confirmation that you're cool with us using them!

I don't quite think it's fair to say that SETI has conclusively proven that nowhere in our local bubble is there any form of alien life, we might be jumping the gun a little bit here! I'd also add that we find interesting little things out about our home planet and the others in this system we call Sol all the time, theres certainly scope for oddness out there. Starcontrol is a game that is _based_ in reality, it involves humans and the planet earth, set in a large v

I don't see the need for difficulty settings to exist, to my mind they're one more thing that can be botched in making a game. I've played a ton of games where difficulty changes things in the most unimaginative of ways that doesn't lead to a more enjoyable experience or something you feel better for overcoming, but simply a more frustrating one. I don't see that Starcontrol needs a slider.

As a bit of a tangent I'd say I'd love to see the rainbow worlds fluff carried to it's conclusion, that is, planets that are unscannable from orbit, May be high risk! Might have very high reward! Perhaps both!

I don't know man, final fantasy VII looks just _terrible_ to my eyes, I'd say the cautionary tale lies with FFVII here honestly, they had the new median of 3d graphics and decided to change to it for the sake of change, abandoning the tried and true 2d format that still had room to be tidied up graphically, as a result people have something that looks like absolute ass years down the line. Cartoony absolutely provides a bit of a buffer against age but it d

Theres precedent in the Starcontrol story! I would say that even in the originals, humanity lacked garbage tech, it's one of the reasons that the alliance of free stars has a lot of respect for humanity, that we made it to the stars by ourselves. I prefer fighting from a corner is all I'm saying.

I like the starcontrol 2 start myself, something that echos that would be ideal, humanity either massively on the backfoot or utterly crushed, with one last desperate hope to achieve victory, that must be enough for YOU must command that hope!
Not only did I disable the timer in Star Control 2, I also "saved" both Ag Center and Highpool in Wasteland 2. I still had to choose which got destroyed, but I was able to do quests for both up until I activated the satellite dish. Mods are fantastic. }:>
Ha! Fair enough, I suppose we just enjoy different styles there!

I'd be loathe to see a huge timer flash up on the screen with "Time till everything dies" written on it, but perhaps more clues in conversations, maybe a report saying something like "Wow, the utwig got massacred, but reports are saying they killed a whole lot of Kohr-Ah as well, this should hinder their war effort!". I suppose I'm saying I like my immersion.

I was under the impression the Utwig-suppox alliance did give more time but the thraddash didn't (as they were terrible).

While I agree that it'd be nice to incentivise combat I feel I have to state firmly that I _loathe_ diablo-esque loot systems. One in every twenty battles drops something nice? That'd make me feel like I had to grind combat to make my ship viable, combat can be fun in a lot of games but the instant it feels like an obligation and not something to seek out or avoid for it's own sake, I start to resent it.

It's awesome to hear this being discussed the way it is and heartening to hear Stardock has thoughts along the same lines, the one comment I would say is that ship design doesn't nessecarily give clues as to what it does. Looking at the Spathi Eluder doesn't scream speed or rear-firing torpedos to me, this is part of what makes the ship hilarious to me... though I'll admit beyond the eluder I'm struggling to think of examples. The shofixti scout perhaps? It's slower th

Hello all! I perhaps should have posted here first myself, I can not over emphasize how I was utterly unable to sleep after getting the email about Starcontrol at something like 3am my time. A deep love for Starcontrol 2 has been a driving factor for me for many years, my friends are sick of telling me to shut up about it whenever the topic veers towards gaming. Have to admit when I first saw the price to be an elite founder my heart sank, I was going to have to make so

Honestly I find it one of my pet peeves when I can look at a game I've been playing and go "Okay, I've done everything, it's complete now". Makes me think of a game as being work that I need to do and I hate that sensation. With the timers and the like I get to feel (however undeserved) clever. Take Wasteland 2 fairly recently, very early in the game you're informed that a lab that researchs how to grow food in the wastes is under attack, also a town full of people that helps

My favourite would have to be the Shofixti if only for how the little guys could unexpectedly massacre Dreadnaughts. Ur-Quan launches fighters? Keep your distance and pick them off with the peashooter, he learns better? Get in close and sit in that little angle where the dreadnaught can't face, slowly tapping away at it's health. Much, much harder against a human opponent of course but the way the matchup could go appealed endlessly to me as a kid. I loved the plucky nature of the lit

For me, I'm not a fan of the planet design, I opened up the vault when I got in, looked at all the concept art, loved seriously all of it (Which I feel should be said more, the aquatic alien design looks boss!) until I hit the planets. I'm not sure I have any more salient points to add to whats been said that hasn't been covered already, I suppose I feel that things we know, should echo what we know, so it grounds everything in a bit more believabilty, sure Starcontrol 2 was... If I can weigh in myself, one of the things that magnifies this is the actual misinformation that the game gives you, who doesn't remember the starchart telling you where our friends the Shofixti are, where the evil androsynth are and the unknown regions of space that might as well say "Here be dragons." When you do finally get out there though, trusting on the information from your charts, the histories, perhaps a brief chat with Commander Hayes and things aren't as you expected, I r
