ObjectDock submit rejected!!!

ObjectDock submit rejected!!!

I uploaded some of my very first works, the ObjectDock icons, all in 128x128 PNG. Then I waited. And today I received an email telling me that my uploads were all rejected The reason was, as they said, file must be in ZIP format, when I uploaded pure PNG. But how about this guy?

[Note: link died, as was taken care of ^_^]
His work is in PNG, not zipped.
I'm totally discouraged. Please help!

alas, I was only joking myself and was playing along...so darned hard to convey tone in a text only format! All of this, including the first "what did I ever do to you?" post was all in jest!...geesh fellas...my entire last post was a play on the alliteration posted above it...gotta just start posting "yep" or "nope" instead of long tirades that get taken wrong....I'm trying to fit in, be funny, not talk too much...darn! I'm doing it again...time to visit the Ritalin salt lick...

Misc Icons: This was supposed to be for icon packs and the odd icon which wouldn't fit into Icon Packager. Only .ico icons are accepted as they are intended for Windows' use only. Volume of single icon submissions have corrupted the library however.

Object Dock: This was supposed to be for all Object Dock related items, docks, png icons etc. Again the huge volume of icon submissions has overwhelmed the library. It was supposed to have sub-sections to separate dock and icons, but that never happened.

The whole lot needs a re-think.

OK cool Bandit...and your right...hard to get a jest across in text sometimes...thats why I use the smiles thingies just to make sure people know I'm only kiddingor I will say so outright just to be sure. Some people take things the wrnog way some times so I "try" to make sure they don't..sometimes it doesn't work though.

Hey Sir B. Relax, the committee will just be Web, goob and myself, we will be fair

A cool thing would be that there were sub-sections to separate the docks, docklets and png icons.

Just a thought.

Theres really not much to debate about it...the Icons already have a library and the Pngs are basically the same thing since you can convert them either way, so they should be in the "Misc Icons" library as well. The only thing that should be in the ObjectDock library are docks and docklets which of course have some sort of icon or png as its logo or what have you. Thats really all there is to it.

JAroche...As far as sub-sections...I think the advanced search already covers that and to be fair, the docklets are as much a part of ObjectDock as the docks are. Its really all about the application...ObjectDock is about docks & docklets.

an icon is an icon is an icon

An icon (from Greek εἰκών, eikon, "image") is an image, picture, or representation; it is a sign or likeness that stands for an object by signifying or representing it, or by analogy, as in semiotics; in computers an icon is a symbol on the monitor used to signify a command

whether it be ico or png

Gizmo is correct in his statements and it would make things easier

I will need someone to lend me a wheelbarrow, however, in order to move my stuff from the OD gallery to the Misc. Icons gallery. and I said lend not rent (smiley posted)

It would be easier to create a new dock/docklet library and migrate those over to it and then just rename the ObjectDock library to Misc Icons 2...since there are more icon/pngs in there than dock/docklets.

Now I feel bad, and I am confused.

I submit 99% of my OD Icons to the ObjectDock Gallery. I had at one time, tried to submit my TSWOC Icons to the Misc. Gallery but was told that that particular gallery was intended for the 'odd' icon, not for folder icons and such. So I resubmitted them to the OD gallery and moved some of what was already in the Misc. Gallery over.

It makes perfect sense to me to seperate the galleries (icons, docks, etc).

i guess what I need to know now is, where do I submit the icons, being folder, desktop, etc., or program, software, other, etc?

Po... until something changes.... The Misc Icon library is for ICO only. Doesn't matter if it's for a folder, desktop, software, program or what ever.....

Does this include PNG's?
I submit the OD Icon's in PNG format.

.ico only to Misc Icons

.png to Object Dock

I think moving all the PNGs to a library named Dock Icons completely seperate from the Object Dock library ,would be a good start then the ZIPS containing dock icons which are left in the OD section could be sorted through later.

I do think that the Misc Icons section should remain ICO only, and Dock Icons should have a section, if for no other reason than minimizing confusion for newbies. It may be a simple thing to convert a PNG to ICO, but for someone just getting into this stuff it might seem like a lot to deal with just to change their Recycle Bin icon.

Seperate sections should keep the "WHY CAN'T I USE THIS COOL ICON?????" threads down somewhat.

ICO only means ICO only. PNG is not ICO, is it?

Another reason for a Dock Icon section...

Pardon the blasphemy , and correct me if I'm wrong.

Can't other dock programs use PNGs not just Object Dock?

I don't know for sure since the only dock I've tried is the free Object Dock.

I think all dock programs do use png. They can also be used with DX and IconX.
They are multi use not just for docks, so maybe a section for png icons that reflects the flexibility of them.

That's a very good point.

That makes sense.
