What Customization stuff do you use that we don't have?

We've been thinking that we should just add a bunch of new sections. Let them see how they do and the ones that do well would continue to be highlighted in the default gallery list and the others would still exist but not show up by default.

So what sections do you think we shoudl have? I was thinking of small things even.  Misc. Icons.  Not everyone has full icon packages. What about adding a Misc. icons area for people who want to upload a few icons here and there.  The Misc. Icons could have sub-sections for Avatars and Buddy icons and OS X icons and the like.  We would need a volunteer who would be in charge of such a section to help go out and get authors (Mac icon artists, etc. to come out and submit their work).

But tell us, what do you customize on your computer that you find yourself having to go elsewhere for.  Don't feel the need to be gentle. Let's be open and honest here. Tough love. ;) !FROGCARE!

Please separate ObjectDock Icons from the rest of the ObjectDock skin stuff. The rest of the objectdock stuff gets buried under all the single icon releases.

Don't know if you want to venture into this arena or not, but ringtones and background images for cellphone screens are about the only other things I can think of.

I think we need a better wallpaper section. I dont really ever find what I like here...

Also, I'm lookin forward to the screensaver section.

I use Quintessential Player (QCD) and WikMail daily. That's about all I use that doesn't have a section here now.

Trillian is only program I use that don't have skins in here. I would love a WB to Trillian skin convertor, however.

The miscellaneous icons/avatars idea sounds nice, and I agree with XX on the Trillian section. I can't think of anything new right now, since this awesome site covers just about everything as it is!

Thanks for telling me about Rainmeter. Pretty much the only thing I wanted to use DesktopX for was meters, yet there never seem to be any meters made that I like. They are all too big or ugly. So I'm giving Rainmeter a try.
As for new sections, I think Trillian or Firefox are certainly in demand.

Trillian and Firefox are sections I would be very pleased to see. I also agree that perhaps subsections of some of the others would be a nice touch like the comment about object dock skins vs. the pngs for the dock. A section for misc icons would be great, because I KNOW as fantastic as the skins our authors put up, icons are a natural evolution, and what greater way to test the waters than to be able to upload one or two to get feedback. That said, I love WC, and I have to get my fix at least twice a day.

A misc icons section would allow those who make icon packages to upload only the Ip to the IconPackager library and then upload the extra Icons to the Misc Icon section. Thus eliminating the problem with having too many zips in the Iconpackager library that tend to mess with the new users head and even tick me off. I'm lazy if I want to use and Icon package I expect to download it and use it with auto install. I don't want to have to unzip the package and then extract the .ip.

I'd like to see theme icons for IP or OD..... like a sport theme using helmet, football, jersey, etc., or a Texas theme with stetson, boot, spurs, etc..

It'd be very nice with a forum category for language translation of programs. I would really like to see one centralized placed where we can discuiss and find resources for language translaton. Some of the SD products feature names and technical skinning terms that isn't present in any other language. Being able to talk about various solution in a forum would be one way to handle this problem. And as well having threads with tips and link to resources about translating applications.

i second sleeping dragon's call for custom sounds! Stardock has programs to completely change the look of XP but nothing to change the way it sounds. It's kind of like throwing mod-kits onto a car and still have the factory lawnmower engine. ...or should that be muffler?
