What Customization stuff do you use that we don't have?

What Customization stuff do you use that we don't have?

Large expansion of galleries coming...

We've been thinking that we should just add a bunch of new sections. Let them see how they do and the ones that do well would continue to be highlighted in the default gallery list and the others would still exist but not show up by default.

So what sections do you think we shoudl have? I was thinking of small things even.  Misc. Icons.  Not everyone has full icon packages. What about adding a Misc. icons area for people who want to upload a few icons here and there.  The Misc. Icons could have sub-sections for Avatars and Buddy icons and OS X icons and the like.  We would need a volunteer who would be in charge of such a section to help go out and get authors (Mac icon artists, etc. to come out and submit their work).

But tell us, what do you customize on your computer that you find yourself having to go elsewhere for.  Don't feel the need to be gentle. Let's be open and honest here. Tough love. ;) !FROGCARE!

Custom sounds might be good. We need a program that makes it easier to swap around and distribute them.

Custom sounds - definitely, with a couple of considerations... One you've already brought up - a good packaging system - perhaps available as a bundle with CursorXP or something.. The other - a very clear policy on copyright in regards to sampled sounds.. I can just imagine that people are going to be putting up all kinds of samples that they don't own the rights to - a lot like the wallpapers section, actually .. To get good original sounds, a bit of promotion might need to be done outside the normal skinning community, as good sound artists aren't necessarily hanging out at the graphic artist sites where you're more likely to find skinners.

What I miss from the old days is Desktop Architect. You could change all sorts of stuff from there. Only recently I was using that for sound schemes (must install it again...)

Sounds is a great idea, but how many people are going to create custom sounds. I agree that there would be a lot of people just submitting sounds they find off the internet.

Probably a lot of these submissions

The it sould be under the charge of Paul Boyer (Mormegi). He is master artist.

and

Many of folks mentioned here that WC was not have a firefox section. Have look at this link Link

I use Rainmeter, I always wondered why Rainlendar was here and not Rainmeter

I am with GM. Rainmeter skins are a must.

Black Xero, Fill in a greenhorn. What is the diff between Rainlendar and Rainmeter? If you would.

One is a Calendar...the other is a System Meter.

Rainmeter, Rainlendar, Rainmation [a shortcut animation module]....all by Rainy..... and modules for Litestep and/or stand-alone apps....

Sounds like Rainmeter and Sysmetrix are similar?

I hope the Trillian guys put up a link to WC - Would be nice to see a Trillian section here.

All the above! Especially custom sounds

Who would've thought there's a market for custom sounds. This is great to see Stardock dudes, you've got your mission. Sound Packager!

Buddy icons would definitely be neat. I usually crop mine out of whatever web comic I happen to be engrossed in at the time. People ask 'who's that?' and I direct them to some good reading. I'd like to see a Trillian section, too. Hopefully the guys there co-operate. There aren't nearly enough Trillian skins out there, and that's sad since the program's so versatile.

Im going to agree with others on here, and vote for Rainmeter. I use Rainy's products constantly, but only find skins for one of them here.

With Rainmeter you can look at your systems performance, the weather, newsfeeds, run multiple instances of a 'RM theme', etc etc. Both are solid progs (for those who dont know).

I know most of you probably think of Microsoft agent as 'below you' but I love them. I only have one hand, and find lil' buggers let me keep up. Id like to see an agent area.

Maybe to liven up the Firefox section....change it to a net application section with sub-sections for Firefox, Thunderbird and Maxthon

Essencay is right, should have like a Mozilla section and have it broken down with Firefox and Thunderbird. I noticed that some people have thunderbird skins but not firefox.

The Icon area sounds good to me, plus a Trillian section would be nice.

I just now noticed the Misc Icons. LOL, I must be blind or something.

I've been waiting for a Trillian section for a while now. Would be great to 'finally' see one at WC.

One thing I noticed that was commended about PixOS was it had trillian.

Rainmeter. Never have understood why we have a Rainlender section but not a Rainmeter section.
