Groupy 2 Public Beta Feedback Thread

With the Group 2 Public Beta release, we are creating this thread so that users can report any observed issues.  

Obtaining the product

Object Desktop members can get the release from within Object Desktop Manager 

Individual purchases (as well as Object Desktop Members) can also be obtained from your account page: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products

Reporting an issue

Please include the following for anything found:

  • Exact Windows version \ build (winver.exe)

  • Detailed steps to recreate the issue seen

  • Screenshots and videos are very helpful.  Videos can be uploaded to a cloud drive service (GoogleDrive, DropBox, OneDrive, YouTube), with a shared link included in your post.  Images can be copied and pasted directly into a post.

  • If there are specific apps that the app does not work (well) with, please note what apps and their exact versions.  If any app is not common, a link to a trial version would be appreciated.

I would like an option of showing only the current window of the group while using alt-tab similar as it shows a single window in the taskbar. I have multiple explorer open and would rather not see all them using alt-tab.

Unfortunately this is not possible due to limitations in Windows.  The windows would then show on every virtual desktop instead.

 i think i found a bug :( using Groupy 2 beta, if groupy is running you can't play
 Quake Champions. When you move the mouse everthing in the game slows down, and you have stuttering
 moving. This happens in the menu and also in the game.  Normally i can play Quake Champions
 with  ultra settings without any glitches but with groupy running the  game gets unplayable.
 The only way i found is disabling the account in groupy 2 and kill all groupy prozesses in
 taskmanager.
 (Quake Champions is free to play, so it's easy to reproduce these bug)
 
 
 Windows 10 Version 22H2 build 19045.2965
 Nvidia driver 535.98 / RTX3060 TI card
 Amd Threadripper 2950X / 64 Gb memory
 Groupy 2 Beta 1
 Quake Champions latest Version from steam

Hello again,

I don't see this issue anymore on my system with Groupy 2. Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload Groupy 2 Beta again from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

You almost certainly are launching a shortcut that directly runs explorer which is causing this to show.

How is the game being run, in what windows type: Full screen, borderless window, windowed?  If not full screen, if you change it to that, does it run fine then?

I don't know if this has been considered:

The main thing that I would truly need (a part from being able to restore properly all my folders all combined together at Windows boot, as Groupy 1 sometimes does not combines them back together at boot :D ) it would be to have a "Reopen closed folder" button if I accidentally close a folder from those grouped together..something like the Chrome feature for restoring closed tabs!

Is this already a thing?

Groupy 2 is a publicly released 'Beta', meaning its 'Beta' in title only.  It's my desire (and goal) to change the naming so we never have 'Product X Public Beta, Beta'  😉

That said, an update is in the oven and should be out soon in some form.

 Always the same, mouse move = stuttering graphics.
 The only way to play is disabling the account in groupy 2.

We tested and could not get the results you are. 

What is the mouse you are using?  If a gaming one (no doubt), and you crank the polling \ DPI down as low as possible, do you see it then?

We tested and could not get the results you are. 

What is the mouse you are using?  If a gaming one (no doubt), and you crank the polling \ DPI down as low as possible, do you see it then?

Wow! 

I'm a gamer my self and have Quake Champions installed.

I have bought Groupy 2 but still using Groupy 1 as I use it for productivity as afraid that Groupy 2 might mess up with my work, at least till next major update.

As I'd like to make some tests with games my self, is it possible to install Groupy 2 along side with Groupy 1 and use it only on demand, maybe playing with some buttons in the settings to deactivate one and activate the other, then eventually switch back to Groupy 1 when needed without the need of uninstalling and reinstalling anything?

Please let me know. Thank you.

Uh..😔 that is bad... Very afraid that G2 might give me headaches as I use about 15/20 explorer tabs while working....

I'll let you know if I'll decide to witch already.

Would really love to make some tests with games...

Ps: what about future updates? Will it come soon or is it something still in hard progress?

Future updates for what exactly? Are you referring to the Quake issue? So far that is the only report and it cannot be reproduced internally
