With the WindowBlinds 11 Public Beta 1 release, we are creating this thread so that users can report any observed issues.

Reporting an issue

Please include the following for anything found:

  • Exact Windows version \ build (winver.exe)
  • Detailed steps to recreate the issue seen
  • Screenshots and videos are very helpful.  Videos can be uploaded to a cloud drive services (GoogleDrive, DropBox, OneDrive, YouTube) and links included in your post.  Images can be directly added.
  • If there are specific apps that the app does not work (well) with, please note what apps and their exact versions.  If any app is not common, a link to a trial version would be appreciated.

Thank you for your interest and any time you put into making WindowBlinds 11 a better product.

I remember the word "Working" way back last year causing a bit of dispute when we trialled Explorer patcher with WB 10. It does seem WB 11 has a fair few teething problems to get to a point were Working is a true statement. You are one of the first i have read saying it mate, that makes me happy to hear "No Issues So Far". I thought the Beta would be for me, then i read the numerous reports about WB 11 creating problems for plenty of users and decided against the upgrade just yet as my set up is a bit complex as you know, i am looking forward to a point were i can install it. Of course beta # 1 has always been destined to have the most bugs as it reaches a far larger audience to test it on then the few pcs beforehand. Betas are supposed to have more work to make a final product.

That said, it is still a pretty big step up from using explorerpatcher to get windowblinds 10 working. Windowblinds 11 basically is windowblinds 10 except it is now programmed to work with the Windows 11 command bar and the start 11 / windows 11 taskbar. So this allows for two Windows 10 parts to no longer be required on my Windows 11 setup. I don't know about you, but I do not want to use Windows 10's ribbon menu or even Windows 7s command bar over Windows 11's. Also, with explorer tabs making their way onto devices that will be yet another feature to not take advantage of if you use Windows 7/10 parts on Windows 11.

I think right now,, the main reason to skip and wait for a newer beta to be released will be for hdr enthusiasts. There very well could be people that require them.

Also, with explorer tabs about to become the thing on windows. I think we may start to embrace new skin artwork and that in itself is going to take time to catch up and hopefully we see new skins that compensates for that. As always artists are going to be a big part of windowblinds 11's success.

The whole taskbar not being skinned except Start when enabling the new search box via ViVeTool (It's hidden A/B testing feature in Windows 11)

Well command bar from vista/7 is the best. Command bar from 10 and 11 is shit. Some old skin require bar from Win7. If WB 11 will not support bar from 7 then i will not install.

With what I am finding, you can still tweak your pc with older parts if you want to. I do not believe anything is removed from windowblinds 10. More or less features are just being added to that program here.

We do not offer any support for insider releases of Windows.

I am afraid we will be sticking to this policy strictly with WindowBlinds.  Unless you are using a release version of Windows you may encounter problems which we may not address for months.

MFC missing scrollbar MFC and many other older applications (20+yrs age) dont show scrollbars.... they are technically still there and interactive but what they get drawn as is a bit of a tossup... here its a solid bar.. sometimes its blank others its a little bit of image corruption...  running windows 10 21H2 (19044.2006).. windowblinds 10 worked just fine in this regard... ...this will get fixed right? cos im feeling some buyers remorse...

You cannot seriously expect the devs to make Windowblinds compatible with all apps older than 20+ years?

Could you suggest an application which is showing this as this isn't showing here with apps with normal scrollbars?

Also is this all skins or a specific one?

the program in the screenshot is winmx but it also randomly affects other programs of its vintage (early xp era) as well... it does it no matter what skin, that screenshot what just nice and bright... only the scrollbars dont show.... everything else does.

Of course they should. WB itself is that old; it's part of the very spirit of those who use it and have proudly done so for years! Besides, the old code-base should still be there somewhere, surely? How else do the ancient skins I use every day still work? Props to you Mephitus BTW, from one software archaeologist to another. :wc:  

Incidentally WinMX is still being worked on, or at least plug-ins for it are, so technically should still be considered relevant and not merely an out of date curio.

Unfortunately nobody here is willing to install WinMX on a system.  It is far too much of a security risk.

If someone can find an app thats not a p2p sharing app we can investigate further.

Pirch98 windowblinds 11

The Pirch98 IRC client is good and messed up enough.. no scrollbars... odd positioning...

this is 'steam system grey' by 'link' in wb11 on windows 10 works just fine in wb10...

Edge accept skin but only ones. Firefox accept skin but when i change window position skin disappear. So skining its not work.

yea it's probably the skin witch skin is it as I don't have the issue you're talking about. I found a fix for settings apps etc... not showing the titlebar buttons by disabling hyper-v via control panel add remove apps seems to have solved that issue knock on wood.

22623 is an insider build of Windows 11.

We are very clear on this that we will offer no support to those on insider builds.

As for ms edge, that's expected with the autostart with windows feature they enable by default to make it look like it opens quicker.  Doing so ignores the command line options passed into it.  You can disable this in edge settings.

Has anyone else had this problem where the buttons don't show on windows apps? This happens randomly with all skins like the properties or windows update screens. A comment would be greatly appreciated. running win11 and wb11 beta.
