This is way back on May i view it but it didnt increase at all still at 0, in fact i tried several ss and none of them increase.

OK....come back to it in an hour or so....and see if it's count is updated.

The database refreshes more frequently for some things than others, I believe...

Meyend Tripp, I believe that is exactly what is happening. If you go back a couple of years you can see how many counts a screenshot had back then and now days a ss only gets 20 at the most if it's a good one. Of course everyone will say they are only screenshots and it's true, but to me it still is one of my favorite places on the site. Too bad also by showing only the rated 8 or higher ss some people are being discouraged to submit them.

I liked uploading them until Jafo pointed out that it is mostly for upcoming skins or what-not. All I have to offer is putting older skins together.

I really believe to save space for WC that they should remove it, since we can upload our Desktop to our profile.

Trillion or Rainlendar would probably be better for the site.

Had fun while it lasted though.

I have found SS's section very helpful into finding cool Rainlendar, Wallpapers, and Icons that are not found here that goes with the WB. Every author was more than happy to help me with the download site, or better yet, sent it to me via email.

My girlfriend has wanted me to duplicate most of the ScreenShots that she liked.

Ok almost 6 hours of waiting i could finally say that the # of View in SS section is not accurate .

These are the words posted at screen shots, if you didn't mean it you shouldn't have started it.
I thought the screen shot section was still not back because of the crash.
It was one of my favorite places to go also, I agree with diafragma, If it wasn't popular why was there 2342 ss submitted.
There were a lot of well put together desktops there by Phrozen, diafragma, SS Goto and others, also a lot of Original Rainy's and Object Docks made by them. It gave you a lot of ideas of how to use some of the other programs and made you want to download them.
The people that posted them would also share them with you if asked, and many friendships were made. I will miss it, because it is not what it used to be...it is broken.

One more time....

Limits are placed on what is visible to reduce server load.

For those who are still unaware, Stardock/Wincustomize lost 2 servers....they died....they are extinct....they are ex-servers.

This is a temporary measure.

There is a subscription drive on currently to assist in purchasing their replacements.

When this is completed normal programming will be resumed.

It is unfortunate that some works/uploads may be less available/visible, but it is equally, if not MORE unfortunate that 2 servers need to be replaced....

 

Now, if something as comparatively 'trivial' as viewing stats for screenshots is a casualty of the current dramas well take it on the chin, stiff upper lip, and tough it out till life as we know it is restored.

To bellyache yet again is tedious in the extreme.....

ratings are useful. A lot of the most downloaded stuff isn't always the best. And that would have to be the other way to determine bestness.

This is the conundrum: Ratings aren't always given fairly so as of right now they don't speak for the best either.

I'm sure there are alot of skins uploaded to be rated. And yes, many people have been abusing the rating privileges.
Idea: Give a title to 5 different Subscribers that can only Rate for each section.

As often as I visit the site, I for one can rate each one of the SS's section...... less abuse if you put the rating into people of trust.

Meyend Tripp....it's darn noble of you to start a thread slighting those who rate screenshots [in this case] and by post #70 have determined that you should be the one to wield supreme power over all who would want to rate and become THE rater.

The ratings may not match your opinion, however that in no way detracts from their validity, or the competence of those who are doing the rating.

I enjoy the screenshots! I danced around for three days because my screenshot was posted. Had no idea they could be rated, tho . Now I have to decide if I have the courage to look to see if I did get a rating. I get to look at the SS and see what other people are thinking and doing with the same material I have on my computer.

most of my screens i post have modified skins from other artists.most my screens have large changes to the original skins i downloaded.for example in this screen Linki have modified the sysmetrix as well as the desktopx objects and the windowblinds skin.
as i tinker with them im getting more of the refinements down. i mainly like to get feed back. im still in my learning stages so i use exhisting skins to practice. any coments are appreciated.. wether or not i get a great rateing .
but i try not to take a default theme and post a screen with some thing little like the wall paper changed unles id made the wall and then gripe if i dont get a great rateing.
i invested alot of time in this perticular desktop and it got a 6 i believe. it dont bother me as long as i get feed back on how im doing
