Screen shuts off

Screen shuts off

Win 10 Black Screen at Boot Up

Are there "shortcuts" on the keyboard to shut down my PC safely when my screen goes black and shuts itself off??

EVGA isn't sure it's their video card - tried a couple drivers etc...

I know it has to be the video card but in the meantime I have no way to shut down that I know.

HELP

Well I had to stop hibernating my computer, because of problems. I recommend a shutdown. I one time had the problem of black screen at boot up. I asked the computer gurus, and suggested something came loose.

I thought you were supposed to save every 15 minutes.

My screen went black but was able to power off pushing the power off button which

means it had power so not the power cord.

I shut down my PC everytime i'm done using it so I might 2 to 4 boots a day and night .

I had another black screen while video editing again late last night , so I reinstalled the

2 editing programs i was using incase that was the problem since then no black screens

while on the desktop but this morning when booting up again got 2 black screens till

the 3rd time it booted to the desktop ..

So I don't know what the problem still is .

I wonder if the people experiencing this issue got an iffy installation due to a bad download or disc, and whether a reformat and clean install would resolve it?

I've not experienced it myself, but I do feel for those who have, given my own issues with Updates and etc.

Well I don't know, then.  It's the strangest thing, that only a few have the issue, and then possibly for different reasons/causes.  Is there anything on the MS data base regarding these black screens?  Or it may be worth checking Tom's Hardware for answers, and if there are none pertinent to the issues here, then maybe it would be worth opening a new case.

Wasn't looking for it but I came across a YouTube video that deals with black screen on login. I haven't tried anything but if you guys want to. My computer stays on all the time. I only reboot when there's a Windows or a program update.

The date on this is May 2018 so it's not something that just started.

I have been running a program at boot that by passes the lock screen so

I will turn that off , Turn off windows password log on and just boot right

to desktop and see if that works with no black screen.

Enjoy your Windows-based machines. :)

Not everybody using Windows is having this problem... and I'm sure Apple's OS-X and other OSes have issues as well.

Not everyone no, I agree. Does Apple have issues? Well of course. Is it like Windows? Well no I think not. Not even close. And you of all people know this. But yet you defend Windows with my post and bitch about it all throughout the forums.

You can't argue with that reply, you know I am right. :)

Um, I was NOT defending Windows .... not by a long stretch of the imagination.  I merely stated that not everyone is having this issue with Windows 10.   I'm not, but that doesn't mean that I like Win 10.  It has given me other issues and has frustrated the heck out of me... especially at monthly updates time.

So no, I'm no MS fanboi.  Nor am I a fan of Apple.  Apple, too, has done stuff I don't like.  Sure, I have my MacMini and enjoy using it, but I won't update the OS from the one it came with because afterwards, Apple, in its 'wisdom', began removing various programs and features and took away users ability to customise the UI.

As for bitching about Windows 10, well that's my prerogative after having it forced down my throat when I was more than happy with my Win 8.1 setup.
