A Welcome to the Star Control Founder's Private Forums from Vaelzad!

Hi Everyone! Welcome to the Star Control Founder’s forums!

First and foremost. Thank You for becoming a Star Control Founder!

The purpose of the Founders program is to give your individual voice and feedback weight. We look at every person’s response and opinion and give it consideration. Whether we act on your opinion or not, I guarantee that your voice was heard and considered.

Secondly, please respect the NDA. Being chosen to participate in the Founder’s program is a privilege, and we want to share as much as possible with you. However if you have a hard time restricting your communication about what you see in the forums and the vault exclusively to the Star Control Founder’s forums you will force us to take action.

Third, never hesitate to give us your feedback. If you like, don’t like, or aren’t sure how you feel about something with regards to the game let us know. Be descriptive with your feedback, we want to know what you think and why you think it. Letting us know what you liked and didn’t like and why is 1000x more useful to us than providing a solution on how you would do it. If you feel you have an opinion about the game that you don’t want to express publicly you can always Private Message one of the Devs.

Finally, I’m really excited to share with you the current behind the scenes of what is going on with Star Control. The team has been hard at work for several months now working on the technology behind systems that needed to be built for us to make this awesome game.

Don't forget to check out your exclusive goodies in the Vault!

Let’s talk about Star Control!!!

This is the proudest day of my life. I can't believe after 20+ years I'll be involved with the new Star Control like this. My 12yo self's head would be exploding right now.

Really chuffed to be a part of this. Failed 2nd year Comp Sci because I couldn't step away from StarCon II. Life worked out anyway and I don't really regret it (though I warn my kid never to fail anything for a computer game unless it is so good he's talking about it almost a quarter of a century later)

Love the idea of the possible alternate reality. I'm not 100% on my StarCon Lore - but I got the impression that perhaps the AndroSynth and Orz had a confrontation that could lead to an alternate reality scenario, as the Orz felt like they were travelling across realities.

I'm with cuorebrave on this one...Star Control 1 and 2 were (and still are) some of the best video-game experiences I've ever had. To have a part in this, even a little one, is pretty dang amazing. A little sad that there can't be much callback to the originals, but heck, that just leaves a lot of new ideas to explore.

Hi all! Very proud to be a part of this group, lets work together sharing ideias to shape the best vision for SC.

We all here for sure for the love we had,  while explorating all those systems, meeting with aliens without a word of warning years ago, while following a great storyline.

It was the biggest space trek for sure

My xmas gift for sure to be apart of this.

To all the devs, awesome wishes of good work.

Lets build a huge universe full of alien life with awesome gameplay and storytelling.

Space on m8s.

Great Stuff :)

..... I first got hooked into Stardock via GC2 when it first came out, and I picked up the Sale of Star Control to Stardock from the Press in 2013, after Atari went to the wall. Nice to see it surface here. These days I have lots of time on my hands .... mucho more than when GC3 came out .... so this time I can put in the hours on this from get go .....

The wife will hate me for this .... I'll claim its revenge for her horse riding 6 days a week ... so there's 5 hours a day uninterrupted play already rofl :)

Looking forward to getting access to the early builds of this game.   It's really smart to bring a bunch of Star Control fans in very early in the process as a sanity check.  Thanks for the opportunity.

Thanks for the email! I'm glad I can be apart of the Founders program. It's going to be really cool seeing the game come together! Thank you! :)

Thanks for the opportunity to be part of the Star Control Founder's Program. Star Control 2's unique blend of action, adventure, exploration, customization, humour, and lore made for an immensely entertaining and memorable experience. More than two decades later, it is still one of my all-time favourite games; one I still play through every few years. There are very few games that can match that longevity.

Having seen the initial contents of the Founder's Vault, I am extremely positive about the Star Control reboot. It is heartening to see that the 'Ground Rules' outlined in the Star Control PDF are true to the original Star Control creed and the concept art and style will be bright, fun and entertaining. I feel overwhelmingly privileged to be part of this project, and hope to contribute in any way possible to the success of this game.

(Apologies for the formal speech, I have been writing  a lot of applications lately but hopefully I will be able to loosen up as thing progress. Frungy! Frungy! Frungy!)

Happy to sign up...early Christmas present to myself here as well. Of course, I had to explain to my wife how the entry cost would be amortized over several years...providing an ROI of incalculable fun. :)

I'm a longtime Stardock fan...this should be a great ride.

Ah, so happy to be a part of this! Really appreciate the PDF summing up the approach in the initial founders goodie download. Definitely helped confirm that the goal for this is just what I'd hope - respectful of the originals, it's own new modern game, and carrying the essence of Starcon down to the replication of the major gameplay elements of the original games.

Looking forward to the next year or two or three of new Starcon development so much!

, out of curiosity, how many Founders does Stardock plan on having all together?

We are limiting how many of the special founder's editions where you get to name a planet. We aren't releasing that number right now.

We may do another founder's invite in the future but that invite will be different and not as special as the one you all joined.
