Its happening again

Comments on skins

I went looking for the thread dealing with not being able to comment on skins but couldn't find it. Basically what is happening is something similar but this time the pages either fail to load or take a very long time loading, sometimes as long as fifteen to twenty minutes. The throbber continuously goes while the page is up, the emotes are gone and so are the buttons for quote, reply etc. I've had to hit the back button in order to get the throbber to stop and then, in a round about way get to the skin I want to comment on and even then it sometimes fails to post the comment.

This issue has been going on for a few days now. The last time it was Ghostery interfering. Uninstalling that solved the problem. the second time around it was last pass. Uninstalling that solved the problem. Now its happening again and the only thing I can think of is that it is either the Firefox update to 3.6.14 or another of the add-ons. I uninstalled AdBlock Plus, that didn't work. I did the same with NoScript and that didn't work either. This doesn't happen all the time though. Its more like a hit and miss. I'm used to long waiting times for a page to load but that is when I'm at the day room not anywhere else. Can someone please look into this as it is very not nice.

What on earth are you doing with all those addons?

Hint...

A browser needs none - zip.

They browse without them....it's what they do.

What's the bet you have one called "Page-load-block Plus" or some such crap interfering....;p

And TOOLBARS ... you don't need those either.

The only tool bar I have is Imageshack. The only add-ons are Adblock and NoScript. There has never been an issue with either of them. Its either Firefox is going south or there's an issue with the site itself. I've had this problem before FF was updated, that was yesterday. This issue has been going on for nearly a week. Two weeks ago I had no problems at all loading pages. Now all of a sudden I do. At the day room I expect it as a dozen other computers are usinng the same connection to the net but not at other secure sites I go to. Like I said, its hit and miss in that it doesn't happen all the time.

Try browsing the site with IE and NO addons or other blocking stuff and see if the problem occurs.  If it does not then I suggest getting rid of your Firefox Adblock and NoScript completely, and any other similar addons.

I browse using FF 3.6.14 with add Block on and multiple other add ons and exttensions with no problem

Paul, I couldn't love you more right now if you were rich, single, and had big boobs!!   :D

I work on so many PCs for people that have 200 addons and 6 toolbars and wonder why they have problems.  It drives me crazy!!  :S

No offense intended, Uvah, just gotta agree with Jafo.   ;)

The more you add, the more potential problems there will be.  v_v

Just two add-ons and one tool bar. That's it! I have nothing else on there. Don't forget, I'm using a laptop and real estate is at a premium. I got rid of the other two add-ons I had because they caused the problem. As I mentioned in the OP, neither AdBlock nor NoScript is causing it. I uninstalled both add-ons and the problem persisted. That leaves only two possibilities. Either Firefox is screwing up again or its a site issue. This problem ocurred before Firefox was updated. I thought the spellchecker was at fault because it stopped working and still doesn't work after uninstalling it then re-installing it. Sorry but I believe it has something to do with the site. Who was it that said things got broke after after a few changes were made. Rule out site issues and I'll dump FF.

Well you tried everything else so download Opera and try it.

Everything fast on my end and even thought I use mostly opera and sometimes IE I have no problems with either. You were so ready for troll day I think you thumped your own computer.

I have no other reports of site issues like that, and I would bet the issue is on your side.

I had the same issues.
I dont know if this also helps you but it was a solid improvement for me: open your taskmanager go to tasks and search for bonjour...
If you find it in the list this is probably whats blocking you.
It installes with apple softwae and also with Adobe stuff as far as i know i always have to remove it from my OS to actually browse without lag.
I might be wrong in your case but if you find it try removing it.You can find a how to here:
http://forums.techarena.in/windows-software/1167912.htm
If you dont find it it might help to update some addons like Java-runtime and maybee adobe flash. good luck

Always count on good old DB for stating the obvious. DUH! I have Opera. Have had for some time now. I just don't use it. If its Firfox I'll dump it in a heartbeat. I just want to make sure its one or the other. As for thumping something.

KAAABLAAAM!!!!

I have 8 addons running and I have no problems.

Ghostery, Lastpass, Tineye, Firefox Sync, Download Statusbar, Tab Utilities, Web Of Trust & Java

No toolbars tho....I think Jafo might have hit on it or you might have some malware.

Last scan with MalwareBytes was yesterday. It came up clean. I run Glary Utilities and CCleaner every other day. All temp files, browser history, cookies, you name it. Defragged two days ago. All my AV apps are up to date. Even ran chkdsk GUI and that too came back clean. To be sure I also ran a full scan with IObit 360, clean. No nothing on my machine except what Roloccolor mentioned about Bonjour. That I do have. Comes with Apple's quicktime media player. I'll see about getting rid of that and see what happens.

Uvah,  I believe you like myself did the Windows 7 SP1 update not long ago.  If you just got an update to FF there may be some missconnects going on.  I would suggest uninstalling FF, running CCleaner and then reinstalling FF but don't install any of the addons or tool bars.  See if FF works okay first.  If it does then start adding things untill you cause the problem to occur again.  That should tell you what is causing the problem.  If FF doesnt work then I don't know what to tell you.

Worth a try. :sun:

If FF doesn't work after all that then its Bye bye FF. Done. Now to see about the add-ons. And no tool bars. All done. Wait and see what happens. Oh and Roloccolor ... I got rid of Bonjour. Don't even know what that is.
