Too sleepy tonight

We’re supposed to go gold this week and we’ve been burning the midnight oil. Once we go gold, we can move to the day 0 version which is, as far as I’m concerned, the “release” version. There won’t be much difference between the two other than AI. But frankly, if I had my way, none of you would be able to play the game and it would all be just AI vs. AI. they prefer it that way… :)

0 day patch also acts as an anti-piracy measure to persuade people to purchase the game to get access to the new content brought by the 0 day patch.

So to clarify 0day patch is not an emergency patch to fix a broken or incomplete game. (Unless we hear otherwise)

Yeap, I said more or less the same thing in my post, though it was as a note at the bottom. Frogboy said months ago the 0-day patch for Elemental is just polish. There's no reason not to believe him. As I said in the other post I don't think it's a bad thing in this case and we all know Stardock doesn't practice the same unethical business practices some of the larger companies do.

Brad said the gold version will be the finished game and will be what the reviewers etc will be playing.

No, the reviewers play the Day-0-patch version, not the gold version, fyi:P

The Gold version to Day 0 patch = the 2 weeks worth of work done to further the game we know as E:WoM.

It is hoped, that these types of patches/additions will continue for many many months to come.

When those Patches "stop" coming, then the Community will have real reason to worry...

Darn, I could have used this same subject for a new article last night as I was just too tired to stay up very long yesterday.  Hopefully today will be much better :)

I don't really care about day 0 patches or such. Patches are a reality for games. No one is perfect, no plan is ever perfect, crap happens. I'd rather see a lot of patches (at least it shows developers are trying to get it right and not saying "oops, we screwed up, oh well - sorry we have to do something else"). I'll also take the patch ability over back in the day when patches were far harder to get (if they even existed?)

All I care about is if the game is good enough to even want to wait for patches, and of course, if the game is better after the patches. I don't hold patches against any company whether they are day 0 or whatever.

I think they tried that with Moo 3, it didn't work very well :moo:
