Unsportsmanlike Conduct

Multiplayers that Exhibit Inappropriate Behavior

Since P5y's post on AFK'rs has been nuked, I thought I would take a different tack and create a thread that documents complaints against individuals that exhibit certain traits.  This is in an effort to make them accountable for their actions of unsavory, rude, or just inappropriate behavior, especially when it results in prolonging an otherwise decided contest.

The following infractions shall be noted (with prejudice):

  1. AFK during game, particularly END GAME.
  2. Refusal to concede when game is over.
  3. Ignoring allies, or uncommunicative during game.
  4. Irascible attitude in general, but especially towards newer players.
  5. Repeated "questionable" mini-dumps.

Arguably this type of behavior deserves punishment, and the ideal preference would be to impose restrictions on their account, but in the absence of someway to strip, or suspend the offending party of play privileges, this at least offers some recourse to those victimized by the offenders.

Please submit the offending players name, smurf name, or substantiated identity, and if possible corroborate their offending actions with supporting posts.

Submit and/or Corroborate, (Supporting Posts will be Noted) - Also, a cited player may now refute their posting with their comments noted.

The Following Players are Hereby Cited for Unsportsmanlike Conduct:

       NAME                                              OFFENSE(S)                                      (Refuted by Player)

  1. chose - He is a notorious endgame malingerer, often saying his 5 year old has been playing or that his mouse won't work- extremely argumentative and obnoxious.
  2. KKrazy - Known for leaving games AFK.
  3. Cpt Glorius - AFK'r and insolent to teammates and opponents alike.
  4. Ronin 56 - More than one account of accepting substatial feed then quitting in the face of questionable opposition.
  5. Black Sword Command - More than once has entered a game and gone completely afk from the beginning. (refuted by BSC saying, he "...rarely goes afk...")
  6. {SB}=>Ferdie - Established reputation of over the top expansion/entrench/endgame blackmail style of never quitting.
  7. Abaddon Xerxes - 2 player requests to post him for minimizing/quitting.
  8. chowdown - Obstinate "come and get me" end-game posture in a losing performance where he refused to quit. (replay provided).
  9. St. Joseph - Stayed in a game after everyone on his team gg after alomst 2 hours.  Put SB's everywhere, then proceeded spouting bible verses saying he was a righteous Saint in the eyes of God and everyone should bow down before him.  Game ended 3.54.
  10. Champ_1 - Documented with replay - endgame blackmail/lagfest griffer.

You sure I can input something onto this list? this seems LIKE YOUR list, not the community list. YOU DONT ADD PLAYERS WHO HAVENT BEEN VOTED ONTO IT YET! I agree, those people are morons, but you dont have any proof off anyone else that they are having the same problems that your having with them.

This is a black list, like everyothers, close it please, because it will just get banned anyway

Instead of listing players... how about you just give a list of all the things that are unsportsman like.

for example... the biggest thing there is (and the thing your missing) Is Kicking people.  Sometimes people will wait an HOUR for a game to start... and then someone comes in and asks "any room?" and the host of the game will kick someone who freaking waited an hour to get kicked.  This is preety gay.

(for all the devs reading this... it would be intresting to not allow someone to kick someone else if they have been in the room for more than 5 min... AND they have not said anything in the last 3 min (aka... if they are afk, they are kickable)

Of course... all the people that join games after they are full asking if there is any room (when OBVIOUSLY there is not room... else you would be in the room instead of asking you nubcake) just make the problem worse.

If there were more sins players it would nto be a big deal... cause games would fill up in 2 min... and there would be multiple games to chose from at all times... but right now? with the current playerbase... kicking people that have waited a long time is very, very inconsiderate.

BlackHawk, there is ample proof of these three players to go around, ask anyone.  That the point.  Anyone I list here going forward will be from other's nominations.  And again, this is only to have some recourse to make irresponsible players accountable.

I've played with chose a couple times, and he does keep games running ridiculously long. I was just in a 4v4 a couple days ago, with chose as an enemy. We pretty much annihilated most the enemies, and chose continued to keep playing, though it was an obvious victory for my side. Essentially, he had about 70 Illums left for a fleet; I had 80+ Junsuraks, 2 Skirantras, and many Carriers with Fighters. In addition, his only remaining ally had only a fairly small fleet, while my side had two large fleets, including a level 7 Marza. And chose's side had few remaining planets. Regardless, he said 'you have to completely beat me to win'. The game was running for about two hours, so I had to leave for the night. If he's as stubborn as this was, then chose may not be exactly the most fun person to play with. :(

I've never seen Ferdie AFK at the end of the game.  He'll often wait a little long to concede, but he's not unreasonable about it.

Ill give it 5 days, this will be banned after the forum guys come back from christmass break.

and by the way, cauis does lag games with his power, and FERDIE IS THE WORST FUCKING TEAM PLAYER EVER!

Ferdies Tactic:

Starbase HW - Expand - Expand -Expand, the enemy goes through another planet then hits the econ guy, and what does ferdie do? takes 1/3 of the map, then dies.

I suggest people kick these players from there games, i do.

I love kicking ferdie, and i keep cauis in, because I whoop HIS FINE ASS all over the show.

Yes, it's unfortunate when you don't make it into a game regardless how long you wait, but whatever the circumstances the real issue is "quality-of-contest".  It's hard to fault a host for trying to maximize the available talent for the game roster by culling certain players in preference of "known" talent.  Similarly, the flip side is true with respect to undesirables.  This is kind of the point;

Establishing acceptable protocols.

If a game title has "skilled" or something like that in the title, that's one indication.  Then if a host or other notably talented players lobby obviously inexperienced players to leave the game on behalf of the rest, in order to achieve a more uniform skill set in the game, they will often comply.  Being considerate goes both ways.  The main contention here though is essentially this:

The players in the game should be able to decide on who competes with them.

This includes limiting participation in a given game by "known" undesirables.  Again, the point here is to achieve some sort of accountability that affords conscientious players some standards to go by when determining what players operate outside of acceptable behavior.

By banned you mean locked?

Also, I think I'm going to stop caring about wins.  If someone wants to drag the game out, I don't care.  Although I have always toyed with the idea of going afk myself against an AFKer.  Especially when all my allies are AI, and we're winning anyways.

I second Ferdie on list. For same reasons.

I've done something like that under slightly different circumstances and don't regret it.  It was in a ffa where it was down to me and one other person.  The guy built a ton of starbases and then basically said "come and get me".  He refused to attack me but just spent all his money dragging the game way lat into the night.  So what did I do?  I put 4 fully upgraded SB's around a sun, left my fleet there and went to bed.  In the morning I woke up to a bunch of lvl 10 cap ships and not a scratch on one of my starbases.  Karma is a B because he did the exact same thing to 2 other suns and was trying to make me plow through them.

I have never had a problem with jew although i must say i have sadly taken out rage on new people not proud of it but ihave -.-

i think we all have ravok..

Im pretty sure im one of the nicer original players on this game. but the problem always has been, if a player asks u to do something, then do it. there is a reason for it. If someone with a better record than you offers advice or wants you to do something.. there is no shame in doing or offering a counter.

new players dont listen. bad players dont listen.

Just take advice and try to do whats asked of u. if u need a reason why.. just ask. most players will tell u why they want you to do something

Added {SB}=>Ferdie due to several prompts from players across the board that have mentioned his endgame blackmail style expansion/entrench/& ignore.

I will say another thing in Ferdie's defense.  I've never seen him stay in a game after his fleet has been crushed.  I've also never seen him drag out a game by running his fleet around in circles and loop-de-loops forever.  At the end of a few games with him all his allies have been crushed and he still has a strong fleet and econ (and we all know why know too), but if he gets beat and is obviously outmatched he will leave.  If he thinks he can stick around and beat everyone, albiet over a long period of time, then he sticks around.

If you don't like people that cross the line of fair play and and exhibit (habitually) inappropriate behavior, the intent here is to have some recourse to report such.  Not to bitch so much, but to document.  This is in an effort to allow at a minimum somewhere players can provide a "heads up" of undesirable characteristics demonstrated by those reported.

If the posts take on an aire of venting, it's a small indulgence to tolerate compared to what reported players inflict on others.

If someone reported on this thread should reply with any coherent response, at least a dialogue of sorts might ensue.

And I will say in ferdies case, as of late, he appears to have amended his prolonged endgame bullying in favor of more considerate conditional results as an alternative to running the game to his last ship (like conceding that he will quit after a final battle, or after a heavily fortified choke planet starbase is destroyed).  Perhaps feedback from this thread as prompted him to change his ways.

I can't say I've ever had a problem with {SB}=>Ferdie and I don't have a problem with him.  At least he plays the game often and helps keep our player counts up.  However, from what I can tell, whatever he's done, he sure has antagonized a number of people.
