Last person to post wins, unless they are a moderator or admin.

Basically, this game is played so that the last person who post wins. What do they win? The ThreadKiller's Achievement; The honor of being the last person to post by virtue of the content of their post. However, moderators, admins, and anyone else who has the ability to lock the thread are disqualified from winning the ThreadKiller's Achievement, if they win by locking. If the thread is won by method of locking, the "winner" gains the Achievement Of Reprehensible Epic Lameness.

Oh right...  No more forum changes.  They've just become ridiculous lately.
End of Stant123's quote

yeah but the forum freakin works finally.

I love it.

That depends on what you want to do with it.  It worked fine for me two years ago.

I have had nonstop errors and a cut down forum list for something like six months, and it's all fixed afaict.

Finally ****ing works right.

Don't really have issues myself to be honest. I like what they have done.

I had no problem with the forums before and the additions add nothing for my use. All they did was cause it to go goofy during the updates. Then again, I also bookmarked my 'My Replies' page, so I come here and immediately see what I want to reply to. As for the 64 executable, if 64 systems and programs (I mean that in all senses) become standard, any hardware changes that need to occur will likely accompany them. If nothing else, just playing bigger maps with less lag will make it worth it.

really draakjacht, no problems? no eaten posts, no pigeons?

Many games are now compiled so they can use more resources than a 32 bit OS allows.  Beyond that yes, bigger maps, more/better AI are possible but considering how gaming from all devs has pretty much stalled at the Xbox 360/PS3 level I really wouldn't expect much on that front.

Honestly, the last time I was impressed with PC gaming...was before the 360 existed.  I don't know how long before.

for me, they always happened close together with long periods of no problems in between. So, while things may seem nice now, we could be right around the corner from another pigeon crap-fest, for all I know. Hell, the fixes haven't been around that long and a machine is only as smart as the man that made it.

Don't do consoles, so I can't remember when they came out. Besides, I'm sure Fallout 3 was post-360 and I love that game.

There are still some companies that strive to use the PC advantages. But they are getting harder to find.

Fallout 3 was post 360.  Certainly.  And it played exactly the same on the PC and the 360 and the PS3.  The graphics were the same (maybe a little higher resolution, but not much) the audio was the same etc.

There's your glass ceiling.  If the 360/PS3 can't do it you probably won't see it in the PC version.

Practically nonexistant anymore.

Maybe after we can finally declare XP dead.

Teal has an interesting story idea. I like it. :)

She does. I've been working very closely with her to develop it and to make sure she adapts it well to the RP medium.

Meanwhile, I have something in the works which would be best served by Oranos coming back, but I think I can make it happen without him. The catch is that I'm keeping it close to the chest. Probably even more long-term than what Teal has in mind.

Stant has stuff going and is helping to keep things moving, but much like Bison, I'm not totally sure where all of it goes.

I really have no idea what Alpha is doing, but I rarely do.

As for the graphics, it'll move forward. Maybe not immediately, but eventually. But graphics are only a small part of what I care about. Fallout 3 could look like the original did and even be turn-based, but as long as the story and challenge is there, so will I.

I imagine devs are growing tired of the limitations of the current crop of consoles.  But I have seen precious little forward momentum.  Those devs who do use DX10/DX11 use it mostly for insignificant things, except in the case of Just Cause 2 which doesn't even offer a DX9 port.  (Best game ever, btw.)

I would love to see things evolve, but my expectations have already bottomed out.

...on a positive note, though... http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey over half of the gamer market now has DX10 systems, and over 40% x64.  So things certainly might improve.

Like I said, eventually. the 'current crop of consoles' will change at some point. I thought the SNES was the greatest thing that would ever be when it came out. I mean, it just looked so real!

Yes, they will, but it doesn't look like anyone wants to start the next gen while most devs can barely afford the current gen.

That is the bigger issue. Most devs either don't want to branch out of their money makers or indie devs that do are limited by what they can get their hands on. It's not the first time when the hardware tech exceeded the software.

The lack of branching out is due to two things. The economy is not doing great. All luxury items have taken a hit. Had Starcraft II come out five years ago, it would have made much better numbers in the first week alone. But people are hurting and spending is tighter. The other problem is comfort. The devs are making games that sale and people are content with the gameplay/graphics they get. Could Starcraft II have improved the gameplay? Quite possibly. But people recognize the old style, despite its deficiencies, and it makes them comfortable to know they can get something they've enjoyed in the past. It's when people get tired and have extra cash that they get antsy for something new and exciting to come along. This is not that time.

The delays in new consoles launching may well refuel the PC market though.  I know I've stopped using my 360 when possible (when cross platform games don't have a ridiculous delay on the PC port anyway)

All I'm really excited about right now are Kinect and Light Peak...everything else coming out is pretty much more of the same

There's a reason I buy games with a lot of playability. Sins, Fallout, Homeworld, SupCom, Total War, etc. all have a lot you can do with them, especially when you scoop up some mods. Of course, I'm a strategy junkie, so I benefit from that preference. If I was an action junkie, I would be most screwed.

I used to be all of the above, but Dawn of War 2 was disappointing as all hell and I got bored with SupCom pretty quick

So yeah, I'm still on action/racing/RPGs...just waitin on New Vegas and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, meanwhile I finally tried Lost Planet on my PC and despite how far I got on the 360 ver I doubt I'll play that again...so maybe I can get farther with a real controller :>

Dawn of War II is incredible and so much better then most other RTS (i like the gameplay more then starcraft). SupCom II was a disappointment on a major scale for me however. they basically took everything that was great in supcom I and scaled it down.

as of now i barely play games at all, i mod them.

Dawn of War 2 is an RTS?  I have four units.  Seems like an RPG to me.

Dawn of War 2 is more of a hybrid. A RPG/RTS of sorts.

Its pretty cool if you like that kind of thing.
