When "Mom" is Away the Kids Burn Down the JU House

Wow, I go on vacation and come home to see all sorts of "stuff" going on here.  It looks as though Mikimouse is gone.  People are commenting left and right that things are getting nasty here.  Sir Peter declares war against the morons.  Wow!

So what is the cause of all of the nastiness?  My husband says I am a calming force in his life.  Maybe I can do the same here.  I just don't even know where to start.

I do see a lot of complaints regarding personal blogs vs blog "journalism".  I think this is an old subject and simply don't understand why anyone cares what is being written about in other people's blogs unless they are named personally.  I do think that people should keep "personal" blogs off the forums.  Likewise goes for any blog that you really don't want people to comment on.  Don't waste our time if you don't want our input.  You are just being a tease if you post to the forum and don't allow comments.

I personally enjoy JU and don't plan to ever leave.  I might not be on here as often as before due to my busy Summer and hopes for getting some sun.  I do enjoy popping in for an occasional quick visit whenever I get a free moment.  I hope people can be real and be civil to one another.  The rest will sort itself out.

I tend to agree with your point, but feel that I should add something else... it used to be a lot less mean-spirited. I'm hoping that stuff will even out and things will get back to the way that it used to be. Speaking your mind is a good thing, but there's got to be some way to say things to others without it seeming hurtful or malicious. What happened to everybody's encouraging comments? I miss reading those.

Jill, the war is nearly over and the Maxwellians are victorious.

Actually, I think that you will find that in order to be a spinster one has to have never been married, and I think that the people you are referring to are in fact married.

Nick, I miss the encouraging comments but this thread looks pretty good so far   Some mean spirited people look at encouraging comments as just butt kissing.  If that is the case, I say we all put on our industrial strength lip balm!

Actually, Bob got resurrected.  I think we're re-naming him Lazarus.

It's been mainly MadPoet, and Peter Maxwell against Little Whip, Poetmom and myself.  I think it all started with the Reagan/AIDS article and has been brewing since then. I've been ranting and trying to not flame and name, and it's pissed people off.  I left a comment about bowing out of a debate earlier on Pete's thread and got slammed by Mad Poet...and of course I foolishly responded, which will only further the argument.  I'm going to go blog about it now.....and this is not a dramatic act, no matter what people may say.

Dharma, what's the blog named?  I will be sure to check it out.  It is hard to not comment when your hackles get raised.  Maybe you guys will just get a lot off your chests and move on.........you think?  I don't see how you, LW or Poetmom could ever be referred to as morons.  Hope all works out soon.  I'd hate to have to go to war after such a lovely, relaxing vacation

It's called 'The Canaries Are Dying' and Smartaz wrote it.  He was also kind enough to let me respond to the flaming before saying he was going to lock it up.  Previously, SPM had written an article about not letting the morons take over JU, and there was some flaming going on there too.  The JU sisterhood members were referred to as cronies and spinsters.....and we're part of a coven, apparently.


I think I need to get thicker skin.

A good dude in dharma's book is a good dude in mine.  Welcome to the family Gid.  I've read a bit of your stuff here and there and you seem like the kind of person I could hang with.  A good sense of humor is always welcome.  Seems that is lacking as of late around here.


I can't understand why Sir Pete has it out for LW.  Her article's subtitle said it was sarcasm to the extreme.  My experience with MP has lead me to believe he has a good sense of humor and is quite apt at sticking up for himself when he has a beef with something.  I think some people around here have bees in their bonnets for no good reason.  Maybe the Summer heat is getting to them.  Muggaz in going into Winter (am I right?) and seems to be cooler headed than ever.

Muggaz baby and dharma girl and others: teaching university you get exposed to alot of rather interesting ideas in colleagues and students. Unless its presented to me in an assigned paper and they are completely off the bloody topic, wall, planet I check to see if its well argued and mark accordingly. Same here...let people say what they will...this is the "ether" they aren't in your lounge room in your face close enough to check their dental work.

God I'm just thankful you all are tolerant of my constant wanking on about my relationship ruminations and static state of my sex life:)
If I see anything with "Reagan or Bush or pro Iraq "in the title I just don't read it...or anything by Christian fundamentalists, I like my blood pressure where it is thank you.
