Jerks

Chat

Chatting in ALL has it's advantages and disadvantages. For the most part it's easy to get around. But in a game where someone is losing it is inevitable someone is going to talk trash, and beyond trash. Insults to someone's intelligence, skill, or handicap is uglier than sin (pardon the pun).

Having the ability to mute someone in the game would be nice. When someone is typing insults and worse; I had to leave a game it was so bad. Sure I was going to lose but I wanted to stay all the way.

Sorry to hear Xkik :(   Next game you may like to use a password and or host a 'friends only' game.

LOL THE NOOB IS MAD CUZ HE GOT INSULTED

But yea, being able to mute players would be nice. Hopefully this won't attract swarms of idiots (some games have nearly none, while others attract them like flies)

Well, that is something that any mp game deals with. You will always have the trash talkers and the ones who think they are godly. Personally, I stay to the bitter end if they are jerks. Nothing is more gratifying than infuriating them further and making them work for that win.

Hell yea, jsut make a fleet of scouts and set 1000 waypoints to every planet in the system over and over again and see if they like staying up for 10 hours just trying to catch up! HAHAHAHA!

W3coLmE to T3h inTarW3bz!

And my typical reaction to such people is simply to ditch the session and play with friends.

The typical trash talker usually has about as much brain power as a jello mold and can be safely skipped out on without any loss of face. You simply have to accept that they are fools and your time is better spent among more acceptable company.

hmm mute would definatley be nice i usualy play with friends or select my company but in those occasions when you cant then being able to mute in all would be good

p.s. cigaunt whats your avatar? whould it be a necron? it looks necrony

Well, my point is the guy was speaking as if he denies the Holocaust. Talk was on the I-favor-the-Nazis end of the spectrum of trash talk. This cannot be ignored in a game imo.

But yes, I will play with my friends from now on. :)

mute would be nice. Maybe I then will play some MP games. Not cus I can't take the trash talk - more cus I then can focus more on the game ;)

Hey Xkik we talked also on Teamspeak. Sorry for your bad experience, dont let one person ruin your online play, since the world of Sins have more nice people then that :)

A ban (so the eg cant join your games) and mute option would be nice :)

lets have a game sometime and the only trashing ill be doing is with my fleets :d

I have a tendency to egg trash talkers on, until they're the ones who end up frustrated.

Don't let people get to you. Especially people who suffer from a clear inability to process rational thought.

This is one of the reasons I hate multiplayer.

Oh really?

Did you catch his log-on name by any chance? I may want to... look him up sometime. (And if that doesn't sound ominous, it should have...)

Ron Lugge, I know his nick, not his log-on as they are different. I don't' want to start a fight here. yeah I know it's terrible talk but some people gotta learn somehow and I believe it's not through being antagonistic (not saying you are that way). some people as awful as they talk are still human and deserve to be treated as such. just my belief but it gets me around. :)

I just want to say that nothing makes a game more intense or enjoyable quite like being the focus of a trash-talker's attention. It just fills the game with life and energy. Obviously, racist commentary has no place in a space game, but basic "LOL U SUCK" or "ROFL NUB NICE FLEET" can really ratchet up the intesity of a game.

To be honest though, I'm more used to WoW and Dota, where trash talk is not only normal, it's a fundamental part of the game.

Even though i didnt understand the word antagonistic (even in danish antagonistisk) i so agree with what you said :D

This even happen in EVE and i gotta say it makes me feel bad and sick. Even though its meant to be used as just talk, its still degrading to some people and to me it shows little respect for your fellow beings.
It was also one thing that almost made me quiet the EVE, but after i talked to my leader i choose not to read there forums instead.

I talk trash about Multi all the time :CONGRAT:

I was once in a MP game where someone called their ship "Railroads", and after it retreated with 150 hull I quipped that they should rename it "Failroads". He shot back "you should rename..never mind, it's dead" when he blew up a cap. It's all good.

I don't see what's too bad about trash talking in a competitive environment, but what have.

Seriously, if you can't handle trash talk in an online game, then you should reconsider going online in the first place. I'm not saying this to insult you. It's common knowledge that in every online game there is, you got tons of trash talking. You have to grow a thicker skin if you are going to survive online gaming, I can promise you that you will play players who will make these guys sound polite.

Ugh, no kidding. This is like the thread where everyone was freaking out because the guy used the word 'gay'.

My call:
Just avoid discussing (or even mentioning) anything related to 2nd WW, politics or religion, as you can be certain the others will not (or not 100%) agree with you.

If someone does it, just ignore him. If you find it offensive tho, then you must work on your tolerance dude, as the true way of life is 'live and let live' and for that there can be no hate in you for people thinking differently.

I'd also like to know- is it there live voice chatting, or just text?

If there's voice included (which would be kind of nice), a mute option would be almost required, IMHO. What if one player had annoying music in the background? Or if you kept getting feedback from someone?

If there's only text chatting, a simple ignore command should be easy enough.
There is no voice in this game, use TS or vent.

There are different kind of trash talking. Like the obvious kind that you know is just used as fun. And theres the cruel kind where they use the N word and F word and tell you that you should be shot and so on.

Sure im a noob when it comes to MMO games, but if this cruel kind that is the future of MMO then id prefer not to be around.
