My version differs from other players version

Whenever I install and run Sins, my ingame version listing is vb5.0. My stardock lists it as 0.90[b].034. Now when I go to connect to a game, I can't since my version doesn't match up with what my brother is running. He's running the same Stardock version, but in game he's got vb5.1.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled and still have vb5.0. This is on XP SP2, on a Vista SP1 build, it still is the vb5.0. I've asked others in the lobby and they have the 5.1 version as well.

I've searched the forums and if I've missed an obvious answer I apologize, but this one is very much confusing me. I appreciate any help and your time for reading this.

*looks over at yarley*

so SDC cant give out the older versions huh?

try going to tools -> settings -> internet in SDC and switching your server from US-1 to US-2 or vice versa and refreshing your XML data, if this doesnt work, ull have to wait for an actual dev to respond

You have 24 hours to get someone to fix that.

Well that was a no go on fixing my issue, but thanks Eet, what I'm doing now is uninstalling Sins, then using US-2 to install from anew. I'm not sure if that'll do anything, but it's installing now and I'll let you all know.

I hate to say it ponty, but I doubt it will fix your issue. Just hang on while we badger yarlen into admitting that SDC has an issue.

You're right, it didn't actually fix the issue. But it was worth a shot I suppose.

being discussed in another thread, i'm going to go ahead and sacrifice a few blairs to brad in hopes of saving us all!

yarlen is passed out due to the 500 proof alcoholic eggnog he drank over the holiday...

this has only made my assumption even more solid, somebody go unleash another robot ninja badger on Yarlen.

i'm so glad someone had brought this up with more technical feedback. here is the funny part. i 'did' had the v5.1 beta. but...! when i seen others had 5.0 thats when i uninstalled everything and maybe thought that a new patch had came out that i had missed. came to it after reinstalling the version, my v5.1 changed to v.5.0 on my ICO menu screen. so i thought that i had the latest patch for the beta, came to find out that i was still running a different version.

i would like to find out what is going on. about that US2 part. i have no clue. i havn't been playing sins for almost a week now. not that i find anyone online playing the game on my timeframe. as far as the single player goes. it seems that i've seen more details on 5.0 than the last 5.1 that i had. the vasari capitalship factory had more details and more illuminated neon colors on them.

single player is working fine but when i try to join multiplayer, thats when the problem comes in. your version differs from this player.

so far i'm stuck on playing hw2, tnk god because i found my hw2 cd just when all these had happened, phew...! :p

Yeah, its a known issue that the devs have already labeled "Impossible!"

I have no clue how it happened, but the SDC data is not the most recent version, its a version back from that. Some of the data is right, some of it isn't... and the issue appears to be degrading! More and more of the files are the older variants, so more and more of the issue pops up. This is the first time I've heard of actually having incompatible executables as opposed to desyncs caused by differing data files, you see.

For the duration, untill this gets straightened out don't risk your installs integretiy, don't reinstall unless absolutely necessary and above all else... wonder how the heck this could happen!

I tried to update mine the other day and it kept telling me there was an update available. It would download it then I would refresh the screen and it would show it as available again. I finally restarted the SDC application and it showed properly. I now have b5.1 showing.

Everything looks okay from here. I would suggest not using US-2 in case something isn't set right on it (I can't check it at the moment). Both US-1 and US-2 are grabbing the file from the same place.

ive had people try both servers and neither of them work :P

that means your sourcefile is wrong...

I've confirmed there is a problem and we're looking into it. Spread the word if you happen to be in any of the other numerous threads that has brought this issue up.

Guys this really sucks. I am affected by this issue. Today I was to have my first online game, we arranged a 2v2. Just as I was getting super excited and tried to enter the game, I got the message that my version was different from the hosts D: Soon enough we realized I was the victim of this issue! Plz fix this ASAP! I am unable to test this game in multiplayer D:

They're working on it at least, which mean's they've (finally!) admitted there is an issue. Unfortunately, I think what we're really looking at here is most of the stardock people (AKA the ones with access to the nuts and bolts of SDC) being on X-mas break... I don't remember when they get back, but it should have already happened or happen soon

something like wednesday i heard from zoomy (when they get back)

I'll check into it on Wednesday morning when we return. As I've said, from what I can see remotely everything looks correct, so I'm not sure what's going on. I'll just re-upload everything and do it from scratch.

I'm sure its just a random hiccup, or lets just hope it is :)

I really can't believe how much trouble it has caused though.

Thanks -- I can hardly wait to have a working copy of Beta 4 (current) again, as opposed to a semi-functional, no multiplayer copy of Beta 4 (release).
