Hi all

first post here, got wind of the game just a few days ago and have been very impressed with the info thats available so much so that ive pre-ordered the game, and downloaded the stardock file manager, ok straight forward enough, im a bit concerned about the actual release date,

at first reports from the forum and the web suggested a release date of this month for the beta, now i am seeing next month being mentioned

understanding that it is a game still in development with a full release date of winter 07, I would love to hear some info on how the beta is progressing, (perhaps a sins of a solar empire developer blog???) and how close we are to a public beta release, if theres any developers reading this let us know what you think, especally about the developer blog, it could be a great idea

I bought some tokens or whatever and am trying to figure this out...I want the CD and as well as the digital download. I don't think that option was available though. Damn...can I still get the CD?

It's not possible to buy the retail boxed version with TotalGaming.net tokens. What we may do when we get close to release is offer people who bought the digital-only version an upgrade path to the retail box version. If you'd like to make changes to an existing pre-order, etc. please email [email protected].

We play on Dell 24inch widescreens at 1920x1200 so you can be sure it works great on widescreens

On Nov 7 when Frogboy announced that Pre-order taking was now available, he also mentionned that

"The first beta is due out after the New Year (think January)."

I rather the game getting delayed then having bugs, and not working properly. I am sure they are just as antsy to see how we like the game and listen to our feedback as well.

All the games on TotalGaming.net aren't nearly as good looking as SoASE. Now I have these tokens with nothing to spend it on...

I was assuming it was downloaded. Don't know if anyone of you know about this, but I found this nice downloading program that hits (with my connection) 800kbs. It's called FlashGet. Just a little friendly referral.

We're going through internal builds and from that we compile a list of "things that need to be in the first public beta" and from there, we'll have a pretty good ETA.

We'll have a pretty firm date soon. It's pretty close though.

The beta will be downloadable/installable via Stardock Central (SDC) only.  We will not be providing it on disc or via standalone download using 3rd party software. It will also contain online activation, but this will be transparent to the beta testers since SDC will handle it automatically on install.

now that was torture... them telling us about how they played and what tactics they used.... poor us were drooling
