Allow me to be the first to comment on the new forum layout.

I was kind of taken by surprise because I couldn't access the forum for a few minutes, then suddenly an entirely different layout was before me. It was a shock to the system, as any sudden change can be.

While it will probably take me a little while to adjust, I like it, frankly. The layout is more consistent with many message boards, and will allow me to search some of the forums more quickly. Plus, by putting the name of the most recent reply (as in a message board format), it will save me the time spent going back to articles that I replied to most recently.

It's different, sure, but I think it's put in some good differences, and, to someone already familiar with message boards, it's not THAT different.

All in all, I think it's a good change. Nice work, crew!

Has anyone noticed that the column on the front pages titled "last posting details "(or close to this ) does not always update immediately who wrote the last comment there?

You can go on one channel and the posts update very quickly and others not, particularly the home page.

I made comments on a thread yesterday, but it is still showing the person before me as the last update (the thread shows my comments, just not the column of last posting)

Ihope you can make sense of my mumbojumbo! I tend to talk myself in a circle and not make much sense, when trying to explain something!

If I click on tools of this post and then click on watch this post, nothing is happening? It works on some but not others?

Is the number of posts you can watch limited?

Actually, it's down there in the bottom. Just not under the forum categories.

I'm liking it! It's a bit of an adjustment but I'm liking it. And best of all there's now a 'search' feature! Guys, you outdid yourself! I'm still poking around so.....but good job!

I think they meant on each channels fornt page like we used to have on the forum home page a list of channels with the lates 4/5/6 comments posted, this is the one big down side, having to now go through each channels front page, it takes ages.

All the other features though are great in my book.

getting back to did any one notice - i clicked open my posts - some of the posts have comments on today, I know that for a fact as i have seen them, but this page still shows yesterday as the last comment and total comments made?

Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Dark Star or anyone else in the know - with reference to the pics option on my account image update

you suggested putting the pics on via wincustomize, I went there to try to upload personal photo and got the following message An error occured. Please check the attached file.

You can only upload .jpg files. You have selected a image/jpg. The image is edited in serif and exported as jpeg - what am i doing wrong? how must i do it to get it to be just jpeg?

advice please....... thanks in advance

There's going to be some modifications to the overall channel listings.  Also, we just added (today) a new feature so that when you're reading a post, you can see the 5 or so most recently commented posts in the section you're in.

Will compatibility be considered later on? With Safari there's no text boxes; with Firefox there's no pictures. Is it likely anything will be done in future to make the new forums more compatible with Macs?

I have an opinion....on the new format. It sucks! It's very slow to load, even with broadband. Once it does show then you have to wait to be able to do anything with it including scrolling down or trying to reply.

IMHO it's also not very user friendly and difficult to navigate. This is just my view. Do what you will with it.

I've been trying to upload my Avatar all day. I get that "it's successful but file corrupted". No matter which pictures or Icons, same messages! Frustrations abound!

Reply #62 was on another thread so I moved it here. I'm beginning to get the hang of the new look. But it's "still"slower than dog spit. Which if you've ever watched a hound dog drool, then you "know" how slow it is. Kind of like molasses in early March.

I'm really not liking the fact that you can't see the most recent posts for each category without actually entering that category. Makes browsing a pain.

One really nice thing about the new layout is you can see who last posted to an article, without having to read the article.  So I am going to say this in my kindest wisened old man voice I can.
