Three Step Formula You Must Use On Your Resume To Get A Job Ever hear the adage, "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink? The same is true for resumes and the people who read them: You can't simply put skills and experience on your resume and t

Resume Scripting Or...Make The Best Resume For The Job So many people out there think that a one-size-fits-all resume will do the job. Sorry. Look, even though you might have eons of experience in a particular career or job category
I've been swamped with teachers and educators wanting to update their resumes. Since I always want to give better customer service and let a few people slip through my fingers (as opposed to charging everybody for everything), I've put up this article, Link how to write an educator resu
If you would turn off your cynicism for just a moment... I was outside with the two younger ones, watching them play in the sandbox. Actually, I was making sure the three-year-old doesn't bash the toddler's head in with a series of well-aimed plastic shovel strikes and said toddler wasn't eating sand. I digress. Comes now the five-year-ol

...and not to say that I'm some sort of poker apologist, either. Luckily, I'm so bad at the game and have so little tolerance to sit in those 12-hr games you described that I could never be a good player. Given your explanation, I guess I'd be unhappy as well. Previously, it sounded as though he was just a guy blowing off some steam playing a game. Coincidently, I saw Poker Kings on TV last night. It was about five WSOP hopefuls, followi
You're still not very clear as to what category your BF is in. Is he the unemployed guy trying to grab the brass ring? If so, you can be justified in some way, but gambling really isn't the issue. It's the issue of him and his spending of the money (and arguably, time) that has you torqued. If he went out and spent that same money on a leather jacket, you don't think that leather jackets are evil, do you (assuming you're not a PETA-phile)?
Yes. You seem entirely unreasonable. You don't seem entirely clear as to why it's wrong. "All that money." What does that mean, exactly? $50? $500? $5000? And if it isn't for entertainment, why is that more wrong than if he's doing it to make money? Would working the night shift as a Piggly Wiggly stockboy be more fitting? Is spending $100 on a meal wrong, too? What about $1500 for a handbag? Or $20K for a car? It's
If you don't know, www.imdb.com (Internet movie database) is a repository for information relating to movies and television. I periodically check out the news area (a dichotomy of my character since I tend to hate all things celebrity, but somehow love to read about them...mostly when they screw up). Anyway, there is a story about a young actress chosen fo
Our handling of Israel is akin to the treatment of the ill-tempered nephew at the family business: He's a jerk, everybody knows it, it's bad for business, but the uncle doesn't do much other than a few soothing words now and then to hopefully placate him. It doesn't help, though, to think that if we don't support Israel in some fashion, that we're letting the whole country turn into the festering boil that nearly every Arab country has beco
Quoted, in part, of a Reuters news story: PARIS (Reuters) - Arabs in the Middle East hate the United States more than ever following the invasion of Iraq and Israel's assassination of two Hamas leaders, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak said in comments published Tuesday. As often with "funny stories" the humor is usually only funny to the those intimately involved...so you might not find this funny. Do I care? Not really. PP, I'd like to see that write-up someday and compare notes.
Kent, How about this: They agree to use sprocs, but insist on a sproc that is iteratively called for each element in a grid rather than an aggregating query.
Zoomba, I agree, and I think that people ought to de-emphasize using a resume service over getting some basic interview skills. Sure, if your resume is unreadable, get some help, but if you act in an interview like you're borderline autistic, spend an hour with someone who can help you. Unless, of course, you buy your underwear at K-Mart.
Personally, I just make sure to convey that I am better than any other candidate. Worked so far :) But I challenge you to quantify how you actually do it. Is it confidence? Is it disarming humor? It can't only come down to superior experience and demonstrable skills or knowledge. I get those guys all the time to blow out the interview. The question is how can you convey that so others may benefit (hopefully not your direct competition at some point!). Not to say t
Sherye, I'll agree that interviewing skills can seemingly come natural to some people (just like salesmanship or public speaking). I'm just perplexed why people don't try to develop these skills when they are (re)entering the workforce.
Ok, I 've just sat through a few rounds of interviews for some new hires at my work, and I'm...non-plussed at best. What is it with you people and your ability to completely screw this part of the hiring process up so immeasurably? Do you lack all savvy? Have you no particular insight? Are you that dumb? Maybe I'm being too hard on the Beav, as June Cleaver would say, but every time I get an awesome resume in my hand and he techs out on the phone, and then we talk in a real, live fac
You know, I'm not so conservative and out of touch with my inner 16-year-old that I don't take some pleasure in the whole Janet Jackson thing, but what really torques me is how damn whimpy everybody is about it. From Justin's vapid "clothing malfunction" line...yeah, I'll bet your hand had nothing to do with it either. Did an errant rhinestone catch on your cuff link, ChaChi? To ABC's insistance they had no foreknowledge. I just wish *somebody* who gave the green light would stand up
I understand your desire to mix it up, but you'll consider yourself lucky if you'll never have to use those skill outside of the mat/ring/dojo, my friend. A simple spin of the Wheel of Crappy Karma and you get some freako judge who thinks that because you're a trained fighter gives you no right...even to all the evidence of self-defense...to use your skills.
