Just Stupid
I've just finished a life-long game and my best Excalibur (which was still on level 0) was: HP: 735 AT: 324 DE: 66 This was the basic points - I had no starbase military upgrades. I was using War Party. PS. I wiped out hundreds of the Altarian Overlords with just a dozen of these without losing 1 ship! [Message Edited]
Great, now can someone please explain to my missus why I'm so happy about it? Thanks ;p
:) cor, you ARE evil I kicked AI butt for making that vote. To be honest it happened at such a late stage that I wasn't too bothered - with only the two of us left and at war we couldn't trade anyway. I think I was a bit miffed as I'd spent the majority of the game as a 'Neutral' and had decided that since there was only the two of us left it wouldn't hurt for me to make all 'Evil' decisions.... i was nearly caught out there!
I've experienced most of these bugs too on v1.11. AI starbases closer than 3 parsecs is the worst one - i had a game where the Altarians had dozens and dozens of starbases and in one case there were about 7 in 1 sector. Luckily I had Excaliburs and took out all of them with 1 ship in 1 turn. Also, I've noticed that the 'disappearing ships' bug doesn't happen in all games. It happended all the time in my previous game but has not happened at all in the current one, which I've
Before any of you think I'm complaining - I'm not, I just want to clear something up which has bugged me a little... In a recent game I played there were just two Major civilisations left - me and the Altarians. They had a huge amount of influence (90%) even though otherwise we were fairly equal. The problem I had was that I had gone as low as 'Demonic', and suddenly the UP offered a vote on limiting the trade routes of Evil empires to 1. So, obviously the Altarians voted yes, and th
Right, well, none of your ideas worked, but thanks for the advice anyway! I'll explain why... and then I'll explain how I won, if anyones at all interested (my missus wasn't at all for some reason). :D I just started churning out constructors, building starbases and maximising the cultural upgrades for hours, but because they had so many of their own, and because their population was re-producing like ants, it really wasn't making any difference. So, I went back to a previous
I'm guessing that by culture bomb you mean build starbases like crazy and upgrade them with all the culture modules I got? If so, where should I be building them, cos I've done that and my influence in these sectors is still nowhere near as good as theirs... one of their sectors, which is right in the middle of my main area, has about 12000 influence and I can't get above 3000, even though I've got all the surrounding sectors.
Damn, I've gotten myself into a right fix here... I was doing so well: just me, Altarians and Torians left. Unfortunately, we're all allied together (I un-checked all optional victories), and when I start on the Torians the Altarians join forces with them to get me. So, as luck would have it, the Torians decide that "we'd better get rid of you before you get rid of us", and YEAY!!! the Altarians join with us against them. Anyway, so now we've done the Torians, and luckily I've manag
Hey all, thanks for your replies. You may or may not have noticed that I've gone off the word 'cheat' and started using the word 'Bonuses' instead... Yup Eradicus I guess you're right - I've been playing computer games since the early '80s and the old Vic 20 days, and usually master them within a couple of days, but I have to admit it's my own fault for going from 'Beginner' to 'Challenging', beating both easily and then getting damn frustrated when I can't get a foothold on
oh, right, so how can I set MY intelligence to incredible? I appear to be stuck on 'Sub-Normal' ;) [Message Edited]
Anyone want a free secondhand copy of Galciv please post here.
Right, here's some more undeniable 'suspicious behaviour': Incidentally I used cheat keys to remove the fog of war to check this out: Game level: Tough 60 months into the game (year 2183), and the Drengin have: 16 planets, nearly all with a population of over 15 billion, most with PQ of between 25-28 (2 with 37!)... their colony ships (and frigates etc) have travelled right across the (huge sized) galaxy without any starbases in sight. Their tech level is massiv
You're a diamond :)
Thanks Vincible, I'm emailing you now with ZIPped files. Cheers
I hate to keep flogging this dead and diseased horse, but I've gone back to that same game where I'm at war with the Arceans and tried a few different tactics to either avoid war, or kick crap out of the Yellows.... So anyway, this time I trade a load of techs, and also get a lucky vote in the United Planets where we all swap 10 techs... I have a bunch of corvettes (again) but this time the Arceans are still mainly employing Star Fighters (mwahahahahaaaaa, I think, I'm gonna
Thanks for your advice guys... however I'm still damn annoyed. And yes, I'm well aware that I sound like a paranoid noob. You can't blame me though - I should be trouncing them on the game I'm playing but for some reason I'm getting splattered. What's more my p[lanets are slowly starting to get the hump with my leadership. It was all going so well, sob. (:(
Incidentally I CTRL-ALT-DEL'd the game out of anger - it was that or lose my fist in my flat-screen monitor.
OK then you lot, explain this one away with your pretty words: I have the Arceans attacking me. Amongst other things I have a fleet of 20 corvettes (i know, weedy, but I found them) who all attack a crippled Dreadnought... guess who wins? My 20 attack this Dreadnought, who recieved NO damage, and yet annihilates my 20 Corvettes with 1 strike. Then another of their Dreadnoughts (just 1) attacks one of my star systems. This system has 2 of my own Dreadnoughts in orbit, along
LOL, I tried Maso as I thought "I'm not bad at this, lets give myself a little challenge this time..." ...Famous last words, and back to Painful for me I think. :) And you can all shorten it to Stupid if you like... everyone I know does.
Hey thx Theoden, I've gone a little weepy now so I'm going off to have me dinner. Thanks for all your help chaps... and please note I have now posted half a dozen messages without a single profanity! Cheers all
Actually, my Popularity was better than the rest of the Majors, (the remaining majors were 4th and 3rd, so I assume 1st was one of the minors?) and because I was bullying the Minors into giving me huge amounts of dosh I had my tax rate at 5% and everyone in my empire loved me - even the Minors, for some reason - all 56 of my star systems were at 100% and every social was built on every planet. Just in case anyone is interested, I managed to manipulate my last game to the point where I w
:) I knew Theoden wasn't as bad as Tolkien made out... Bad reputation? Moi? Don't tell my mum.
Yeah, that was my (latest) guess :)
60% was the amount that gave me the highest possible return (as you all know, you slide it higher and your income can actually go down). To be honest it's not the minor races that bother me - in fact I like them to get rich as it makes it great fun to bully them further down the line and get some good cash in... I played a huge game last week where I started a war with all the minor races and then gave them a Peace Treaty for disgusting amounts of cash. I was getting 288000 bc every tu
