I'm not very good at running my empire, and I need all the help I can get, so I always have something to do with my asteroid mines, usually I just spam them all on my wonder/trade goods planet.

I agree, it would be nice if you could toggle Espionage/Sabotage for each agent. Since I'm a relatively benevolent overlord (spineless rookie), I'd like to be able to keep an eye on my rivals without hurting them. Overall I like the new system, I just wish I could declaw my agents... I really like Swicord's alignment suggestion for removing agents too.

I agree, that game was very fun and its sad how little credit it recieved... stateside at least... there aren't too many games out there that can make you feel so much like a fleet commander as that one.

I really like SEIV, I did get V, the bugs chased me out. There were some things I liked about it, but SEIV and GALCIV2 are enough for me. Unless I'm playing Cossacks 2...

I was playing for awhile as the Humankind Empire Abh. They're a race of genetically engineered space-nobles who boss around landlubbing humans. Good space combat and diplomacy/influence bonuses for them. Not to mention blue hair...

I agree, I mean, if I could have a little Commander Breetai or Yang Wen LI to boss around, this game would be a whole lot easier! Plus it'd be fun meeting the same enemy leader again and again and going "CURSE YOU, !" But... would they be too powerful? Maybe all fleets could have default admirals in them with the occaisional chance of a prodigy (just gains experience faster)?

For awhile I was naming my fleets after their home planet or region. Like the "12th Imperial Fleet" for the capital and the "3rd Zeus Fleet" and so on... helps you keep track of where to send your ships when the war is over, so they can see their families or whatever... My ships? Well, Belldandy's fleet ships are (Wee to Frickin' Huge) Sylph, Seraph, Angel, Archangel, and Goddess. They'll be quite a sight when we get DA... Individual ship names? I usually pick flagships of

I second the MOO2 suggestions, for building military facilities and enslaving... I mean, liberating the populations. I usually play a pacifist with a bad temper, and I'd rather just kill the guys fighting me rather than the civilians. But the big question then is whether or not to include the racial tensions of MOO... that is, when my forcefully tamed Drengens start feeling the urge to fight again... just like Robotech...

It is a nice touch though, I like to imagine that they're just so warlike that their lords and nobles keep their own warships, like... private ships or something, and then as soon as you declare war, they all roll out for a piece of the action. Maybe it could be once every few years or something?

Wait a minute, I didn't notice this before, but is that little logo on the side of the station the empire logo of the player? Thats a nice touch... can we do that with ships too?

This thread takes nerding to a whole new level! While we're at it, why don't we add hailey's comet, or the asteroid belt, or something? Then we'll make stars start going supernova and ships start using Newton's laws or whatever to slingshot around planets only to be incinerated by solar flares and stuff. Then we'll make ships randomly explode for no apparent reason cause lets face it, spaceships are complicated and these things happen! I'

I like to put Infulence starbases near enemy planets, but the AI seems to take it as a slap in the face, and I would probably not get away with it on higher difficulty levels. Basically, if you put them near enemy planets, you'l' begin to subvert them, and if you put them near your planets, you'll protect them from being subverted themselves. I think. Either way, make sure you keep it upgraded. It won't do much until you get subversion centers

I havn't had a problem with crashes, a few here and there but no more than any other game. Considering my computers current state of total disorganization, I'd say this games doin pretty good. I attribute this to keeping its drivers up to date, practicing safe Internet surfing habits, and a healthy diet of Galactic Civilizations II every day! The difference between this game crashing and other games crashing, is that the guys who make this

I've never used Creativity... but my primary custom civ uses Luck... I've never noticed myself having any great advantage in random events over anyone else, but then again, I havn't played on any difficulty besides beginner. Does Luck favor the unfortunate, or am I just an unlucky-lucky guy? All the other civs are finding more rangers and corvettes than they literally know what to do with (like I said, its on beginner...)

It would be interesting, though, if they found some way to force us to submit our losses... I mean, just about everyone on the metaverse has a perfect record (and I'm as guilty as anyone!) I know that the reason isn't that we want to lie and say "OMG I M SO GOOD I NVR LOSE LOL!!!1!" but rather, when we are losing, some of us generally quit and restart without submitting... maybe if it kept track of how many Metaverse games we started, and ho

One thing that is different from some other games is the opening. Buy, buy, buy! Don't save money, put it to use building colony ships and getting your home planets industries underway! Then get those colony ships out there ASAP, cause the computer won't save any nice planets for you! I tried the tiny map once, it wasn't very fun... my favorite short games happened on the medium map.

I think the way invasions work is okay, but it would be nice if you could build improvements to increase troop amount or effectiveness on a planet, a fortress or command center or something... I do really like the idea of bombarding planets into surrendering, or at least just destroying their industry without conquering the planet, but I don't wanna throw a wrench in the gears of game balance...

I, too, am having a REALLY hard time making the jump from beginner to normal. I can hold my ground, but my chances of achieving supremacy are based on luck... last time I tried on Normal, I made it a point to have a strong defensive military but stay neutral in the galactic wars if I could. It only paid off when races started surrendering to me just to spite their enemies... I still managed to lose because of the technology gap... I still agree that it is much more fun to lose grace

Lets see... I'll only list my ABSOLUTE favorites, I swear! Medieval: Total War Master of Orion II Star Wars Battlefront II Master of Magic Shining Force Daggerfall The Sims (mine's hacked to death...) I really wish you could stop uninhabitable planets from showing up on the zoomed out icon display... that view is great for planning a war, but the uninhabitable planets clutter it up. Maybe their could be a toggle or something... if there isn't already and I missed it... But, most games don't give you that kind of view at all, so I really shouldn't be complaining!

This game doesn't need to exert much effort to squash me, and when I tried the evil conquest/pillaging destroyer's path I was soundly beaten. But I had a blast with my gigantic though technologically inferior fleets, winning many battles with numbers and the help of our racial skills. But eventually, the tech/economy gap became too great, and I gave up... Until I get better, I'll be a good boy and win with money and culture... and beginner
