So, I've just completed the main story, and I want to share some of my impressions. The best part about SCO by far was its "middle part" – the one where you try to convince various alien races to join your cause. That part was extremely action-packed, and I never ran out of things to do. Well done. However, the problem is that this part didn't last too long – and after the first boss battle against a Scryve Juggernaut the story became completely linear again. And t

Do the sidequests and just explore? And, of course, you can visit all the aliens to listen to what they have to say about what you've done. :)
I had this bug when I tried to load my old save from the Chapter 1 Beta. When I started a fresh game, everything worked normally.
In the Sol system, there is another moon that has uranium and is safe to land on. As for the Lacaille planets, by that time you should be able to acquire the tech for some basic toxic and heat shielding. If you don't have it yet, you should be able to get it pretty soon. And to elaborate on planetary hazards in general, in SCO they are divided into two types: local and global. Local hazards work just like in SC2: you're safe as long as you're out of their way. Global hazards (
Exactly what the topic says. I've jumped into SCO, and I'm a bit overwhelmed by the number of the things to do here. :) So far, I've met the Tywom, the Scryve, the Mysterious Aliens, the Mu'Kay, the Drenkend, the Norast, and the Kzanti, but none of the First Contact achievements have been unlocked yet.
after getting the "sentient" energy collector I could no longer speak with K'Tang worlds
You can no longer speak with the K'Tang after you force them to surrender to the League, simply because no dialogue was written for the K'Tang when they are in the League. It has nothing to do with sentience energy collection or the Eternal Ones.
Regarding copyrights, I find this part of Stardock's complaint completely baffling:
11. [...] Reiche represented to Accolade that he alone, as the Developer referenced in the 1988 Agreement, was the owner of the computer software programs purported to be licensed. 12. In 1990, under the terms of the 1988 Agreement, Accolade developed and published Star Control, a science fiction video game focused on space combat and featuring space ship characters, ali
We just want them to agree to quit promoting their game (now and in the future) as the sequel to Star Control.
What exactly do you mean by them "quitting promoting the game as the sequel to Star Control"? If that means forcing them to rename the classic races, I don't think that would be an option to any UQM fans. The only real option is keeping the original lore and names, whether it means them having to enter into a l

I've just found out that the AI in SCO's Fleet Battles (Crazy difficulty) does not seem to be any smarter than SC2's Awesome AI. If anything, it seems quite a bit dumber in some cases. To elaborate, it only seems to be any kind of threat at close range. Yesterday I used a long-range ship (the Lexite Interceptor) and managed to single-handedly beat the entire enemy fleet (the premade Scryve Empire fleet - Scryve Battlecruiser, Drenkend Carrier, Trandals Frigate, The Measured Response,

Maybe the event failed to trigger in your game for some reason due to some bug, just like the Vyro-Ingo and VUX encrustation matrices didn't get found in some of my games. And there
A "spiritual sequel" is exactly what Stardock is going to release very soon. It's called Star Control: Origins . And yes, I am going to play it. However, I want to see a sequel to SC2 made too, so that I would finally see the old story continue as envisioned by its original creators. So I hope that Fred and Paul make the right decisions so that the sequel does get made.
This is a dispute that will likely go on for years. So just sit back, relax, there’s a lot less personal animosity between PF and us than I’ve seen between some fans. So chill out and play games.
For years? I thought that the final court decision was going to be made in just over a year from now. Or is it going to be just the first court date out of many? As for "a lot less personal animosity", that
I’ve even previously said that PF had common law copyrights on them (because like most people here, I believed their claims).
The way you're wording this implies that Fred and Paul have been lying about their copyrights. But where and how exactly were they lying? If you believed that F&P had personally created all the art, dialogue, and programming code for SC2, then you could have just looked at the credits f
1. An enormous, well-crafted world that makes you want to see more of it. 2. No in-game journal constantly pointing you towards the next objective, which requires you to pay attention to the dialogue. 3. Witty and deep conversations with lots of choices. 4. Non-linearity. Any direction you take must be meaningful. 5. A grand plot that is slowly assembled like a jigsaw puzzle, rather than lots of meaningless self-contained side quests
Can you give us a little more context on that? Like, who stated what below, and who and what was the lawyer replying to? Because the way you put it in your post, it does sound like some pretty damning evidence against Fred and Paul, but I wonder if one can interpret it differently.
2. Because THIS was their response: This was in November. They absolutely knew we would eventually have to seek legal action. But if you look at their public posts, they act as if they're shocked, shocked that this would happen.
<
