One of the things I forgot about that I missed in the Star Control 2 Super Melee, was the little pilot animations under the ship's health and battery when the ship used the fire or secondary fire. It seems the Pilot animation only changes when the ship has critical health (which is still pretty cool). I remember when the Shofixti used to prepare the self-destruct mechanism on the Scout and you see him pull the three levers to get it ready or the Syreen's eyes light up when the S

I'm nearing the end of the SC:O campaign but can't seem to use some of the ships effectively (and I'm a Star Control II vet!) My favourite is the Greegrox ship and can use the Terran, Tywom, and the contagion ships (forgot the name!) fairly well. But I struggle to use the Trandals, Mowlings, MenkMack and Mu'Kay as they're extremely short range. (Although the latter has helped with
the Scryve Juggernaut
battles. Any
It took me until day 2 until i realised that holding SHIFT while using the lander actually provides a boost to make these sections a lot faster and tolerable. And after the upgrade to boost my lander collection capacity, I was able to start making RUs like a boss and further myself in the game.
I'm using a Logitech Gamepad F310. It's in Xinput mode and Windows recognises it fine in the Control Panel (detects all buttons and movements). But when I go into SC:O it doesn't detect it at all. Even when I go to the control mapping options page and it asks me to select a button on the controller to map to, it doesn't detect anything.
I wouldn't be surprised if it were a cadre of Toys for Bob supporters.
Yuuuuup! While I love those guys for Star Control 2, they had 25 years to make a sequel! Can't believe they've got a Frungy Defense Fund to try and sue Stardock for this awesome game (and carrying on their legacy when no one else wouldn't! Btw, there is NO STAR CONTROL 3 in my mind ;-D )
On the second day of playing, I only found out by accident that the SHIFT key on the lander actually boosts it. I wish there was a tutorial or something when you first jump in (unless I missed it). Also had to figure out that you can crash the lander on entry. I wasted 2 landers before figuring that some planets are harder to land on than others. At least I got the "Face Plant" achievement :-D
I disagree with the planets being too small. I find mineral collecting already on the cusp of fun and annoying as it is. If it takes me longer to explore each planet, I think it will distract me from the main story.
Also Ice Road Spacer and Uncomfortable didn't unlock. However, Stellar Cartographer did...
I'm not getting the first contact achievements either but from the other thread, it looks like they're working on it: https://forums.starcontrol.com/491071/first-contact-achievements-are-not-working
Hi all, I'm using a Logitech controller which I used for other Steam games, but it doesn't seem to be working in Star Control: Origins. I believe the game supports Gamepads as per the controls menu but I can't seem to get it to work. :-(
After suffering major losses in ship battles, when I load the game to an earlier state (way before the battles), the ships that I lost do not get restored. Also, damaged ships aren't restored either. For instance, in the Drekneck system, I fought two battles - after the second battle, i was down 1 Tywom ship, plus 2 other ships were reduced to 50% crew. I reloaded the game to when I first entered the system and found the ships and crew were exactly after I h
Taalo would be interesting as it's never really been explored in Star Control. I want to move away from the Star Control 2 aliens, but I'd love to see more of the SC1 aliens that didn't make it to the sequel. So my vote would be for Taalo, MmrnMhrm and the Androsynth (although I'm not really sure if this matches up with the year Origins is set - happy for someone who's more familiar with the SC lore to correct me if needed). That transforming MmrnMhrm sh
Great update - loving the improvements. Some feedback points I noticed: - While you have replaced the crew/battery meters with dots during the battle, they still appear as blocks during the fleet customization screen. - The Earth ship appears to be nerfed considerably. The missiles don't home very well on the enemy anymore and i'm finding it REALLY hard to hit them. The ship might have been a bit overpowered in the initial release but now it's too w
Loved the Super Melee Beta - this is filling a void i didn't realise i had for nearly 20 years. I agree with OctateZero : <
This is such awesome news! I can't believe the game is finally happening after all these years. I played SC2 when I primary school back in the 90s and have been waiting so long! Just signed up to the Founders Program! Thanks so much for continuing a fantastic childhood legacy!
