Two problems with that: 1. There's nothing random about natural selection. 2. Our complexity is derived from several millenia of evolution. 1. Natural selection is basically survive of the survivalist. It's main weapon is death. NS would still apply even it the reverse was true, all of life is slowly falling apart.(Dieing) 2. evolution (mutation creation) doesn't have any real engine accept random, blind search en

So you believe your "Self awareness" is just a noise. As I said earlier, you can prove with a simple magnetic experiment that this is the case. Isolate the frontal lobe activity from the rest of the brain and it results in a detachment between your self and the rest of the body. Would be an amazing co-incidence for your sense of self to just happen to go on a wonder when the magnets were placed...
I only exist becasue I have an exact electrical field generated in my brain (which for some darn reason, "I" happen to equate to the electrical field generated in a now 26 year old white male body). No, there is no you independent of that electrical field to equate to anything. You are the electrical field, and the electrical field is you. how was "I" (whatever "I"
Does that make me think of God? No. it makes me think that we haven't learned enough about the nature of our existence that we can unthrone Gods quiet omnipotence quite yet. But we surely will. Marcus You do know this is a statement of faith, right? You are just looking for a different kind of messiah.
I agree the combat viewer is a little boring but probably close to reality. Most Sci-Fi that deals with space combat cheats. (Star Wars, BG, etc.) They make small fighters fly as if they are flying in an atmosphere to make the battles more exciting. AFAIK Babylon 5 was the only one who had their ship flying as in real space. You just float in one direction while spinning around and shoot in any direction. Then even in movies the big capital ships just sit there and shoot at one another.
Or they're realists. If I die, there is no longer any 'I' to have a problem. The feedback loop generated from my brain's attempt to process all of it's inputs, my sense of self and personality, will no longer exist. Even assuming there was an afterlife, what went into it would not be 'me' in any recognizable sense. you mean they are materialists . It's a materialistic beliefs than the mind and brain is the same and "I" is nothing but an illusion created b
I detect an air of anger in your reply... This was not meant to be a flaming session on whether or nor GC2 is a classic. There's no anger. This is just a forum. I would say that most who like SMAC wished it had a descent AI to handle all the options. There is alway hope for a sequel. But in defense of SMAC, the AI was sufficient for its time. Remember 8 years is a long time in programming development/advance
IMO A classic is a game you play for years in spite of it's flaws. Yes, but some flaws reduce the "fun" factor more than others. Like, I can easily imagine SMAC being a lot more fun if it had a descent AI.
Religion it's really all about what you give your time and heart to. Some people religion is worshiping the Almighty Dollar. They could go to church every Sunday, sing some hymns, even give a little in the offering plate but his walk outside of church tells of his true god. If this man cheats and steals everyone he can in business during the weekdays would you be convinced this man was a Christian who loves God? Actions often speak of the god one follows a lot more than one's words.
As Sidemancer pointed out, All that GC2 needs to be an classic is time. I disagree with the idea that a classic doesn't have flaws nor have something that can greatly be improved. Someone else noted SMAC as a classic which I totally agree but the games has some serious flaws and unbalanced. IMO A classic is a game you play for years in spite of it's flaws.
"In my experience, RTS games put a premium on resource management. The key to winning, as galenevil pointed out, is delivering the most troops to battle. To do this, you must spend a lot of time organizing your workers to harvest the resources efficiently on order to be able to produce the required troops." Not as much true in Company of Heroes.
I played the DA with duel-core, it still uses only one core (50%) for me. There maybe times it using more than this yet I haven't notice it. P.S I haven't notice any loss time (longer turns) when using Max AI either.
I'm still a one finger typer so I know it was Blake in my mind. Sometimes I leave out complete words as I am thinking a lot faster than my typing. I've already updated to 1/8 version so don't get me wrong I love Blake's improvements to civ4 AI. Sorry, I usually go back to proof read and correct my post. Yes I have seen undefended cities in civ4 on noble. You got to act fast and the AI must be close by. In fact playing as Rome in my first 18civ world map (noble) I conquered 3 AI b
I don't call that a 'brilliant AI'. It's not bad, but it definitely needs some work... Do you sometimes loose in this game, I mean without the stupid bonuses the AI gets at the highest levels ? In Civ4 the AI is so good they give you a run for your money even with no bonuses (noble level). really? I can easy blow Civ4 AI away on Noble using jus
Galciv2 is still a civilization game where you build your empire. Like all civ games storyline isn't it's strong point.
HP has been known for not putting much of a PSU in their PC. I guess it's their way of cutting corners. IIRC My first Hp a few years ago had a weak 200w Psu.
You can probably get by with your 300 watt PS with a card requiring 350w. 7600gt is a good med-range card for a real good price which requires 350w. It running just fine with my 300W PS for now but I'm planning soon to replace it. In general the hotter the GPU runs the more watt it's demanding so if you find you are running games working the card hard then you really need to change your PS soon.
The new DarkAvatar CPU options basically make use of Dualcore (Quadcore will help too but not to the same level yet). Does this mean DarkAvater is suppose to use 100% of both duelcores? Cause mine still only uses 50% most of the time.
With a $600 pricetag (that's before any games)I'm not too sure PS3 will be a success. Who knows; this may end up help out PC gaming.
SR2 is really the exact same game as SR1 but with a lot good improvements. So you are not missing anything by not having SR1. I played SR1 for about 6 hours then return back to SR2 because I missed all those improvements. I guess since the first SR never made it here in USA they decide to slap a copy in SR2.
you don't need the manual as the everything is explain in the game. Also at the pirate station you can change you race. So you can pick at the beginning of the game to be a Maloqs warrior then become a Faeyans trader to finally a human ranger in the same game.
Opps. I keep thinking it Space Pirates instead of Space Rangers
Yes, It is in the box version (separate disc) but I find it hard to play the SP1 when 2 is basicly the same exact game but with many good improvements. Some of the improvements over 1 are : 1) use probes on uninhabited planets to find many useful items .( 1 these planets were useless) 2) New medical and business centers Space stations. (I especially miss Business centers when I tried to play the first one. So I haven't play SP1 all that much) 3) you can buy any coalition ship in
I liked Space Rangers 2. The best way I would describe it is it has a "Pirates" in space feel to it. It's fun building up your cash to upgrade your ship to eventually fight the Dominators.
