Ok, here is my feedback for the Chapter 1, version 0.99.48652 BETA 3B from 10th of August. I have been collecting notes from the previous 2 beta versions too (w/o posting them cause no google docs, I totally blame Schism!) but it seems quite a lot of that stuff has been fixed now so it's kinda solved itself. Below is still what's standing out. Most critical issue (for me): 1) No support for binding mouse buttons. It is i

My faves here are the Space Eye prime, Orville and The Probe :) Good job!
Puppets, music, voice acting and (new dialogues) was precisely what I loved in SC3. Especially puppets which looked mean and creepy. Unfortunately, the other aspects the game were a bit of letdown. Still this was quite a profitable game that year (1996) for Accolade. And puppet animations were top notch tech at that time. People who didn't like those puppets have no heart. having that said, if SC3 races are considered, I'd love to see at least Daktaklakp

Hi, dumping my first 30 minutes of play (I was slow, gazing at stuff and did get only to Mars w/o landing on it lol). Yep. Despite warnings I had to confirm it the bad way with lives of my crew that Venus and Mercury are an ass :) First impression - all is slick, smooth and cute (highest settings, no Vsync, fullscreen) apart from: Shipyard UI and dialogue text background - The colours are dull, a bit annoying and unserious, more like taken from a porn
Just a reminder that for the purposes of SC:O, those theories are not canon in the main universe.
I suppose you call the "main universe" the SCO universe? Well, if the Kessari theory by Chmmr is right, then it would make absolutely no sense that in the Origins universe Mmrnmhrm were created by someone else than Precursors, canon or not. The probability of that would be close to infinitely low.
Why do people keep saying the Mmrnhrm are Precursor-made? Everything in SC2 (and I believe 3) said the Mother Ark was sent by an unknown culture/race and it was theorized that they were the vanguard of that race's colonization efforts.
Come to think of it, Mmrnmhrm would be actually cool to have and finally talk to, just before they even met Chenjesu and before their Mother Ark broke. If Daks were also in this region of space, it could be cool to see the interactions between those two Precursor-made mech races in one quadrant. Could make for a nice story.
Khmeli Hyperlab Khmeli, a scientifically apt dendroid starfaring race, are known for their frantic search for any data on planetary systems with brown dwarfs. Khmeli seem obsessed with an idea of utilizing brown dwarfs as an energy source for their future colonies. Ship purp
If Melnorme are in, then think about bringing Keel-Verezy in. They are always nearby and invisible. Melnorme buy info from them too.
Only one name: Druuge. Either as refugee or most probably Melnorme competitors. Trade without competition cannot exist. What else would prevent Melnorme from ripping off customers by monopolising the space trade? They can also be used (and were used in SC2) as baddies in some quests. Druuge have a fascinating background, non-trivial society, pretty bad-ass looks and a very fun ship. When thinking about the Kessari quadrant species, I would vouch for Clairconctlar
Can I still destroy the workshop? :) My ship is unchanged so it still probably can.
From any universe i know, Marvel universe and especially Futurama universe are the richest. I think Futurama fits SCO best to be honest. They were very inventive with aliens. The aliens art style imho also fits much better than anything. Futurama is also immensely popular.
I think just letting precursors organise wormholes in their universe to other universes is too simple and very very banal - a lot of games around that have that. And here I thought the precursors were ingenious enough not only to bore the interdimensional holes like Arilou or Orz could, but that precursors actually created a special unnatural mini-universe (Omniverse), packed with enough energy to actually encompass wormholes to a limitless number of parallel universes and that it was
Yeah sure, but imho Origins could be better off being a void without matter. It will be hard to explain the new players that Origins is a prime one because it has all these stars AND Scryve Conflict AND interuniversal wormholes system developed by something/someone. Much is not always good. Well, you and marketing team decide anyways ;)
Re universes vs. the Prime universe There is no single universe. It's a multiverse. The prime universe (Origins) is the one that contains the Precursor Origins gates which allow travel to other universes as well. Our area of space, for the base game, is a 40x40 parsec block. To put that number into perspective, the Milky Way galaxy alone has a diameter of 30,000 parsecs.&
Maybe I am still misunderstanding the new lore or concept but I personally think it would be quite confusing to players to call Scryve conflict's universe THE Origins Universe. What makes it original? Why is it any more superior than UQM or Kessari universes? Or any future user/dev universes? I think THAT place (even if it is nothing else than the screen to select universes to teleport to) should be called Origins because you could then travel to other above mentioned universes
I'd like to warn about the tendency to be too plain and banal in names. Imho names must have a hidden message, reference or acronymic joke in them, else they become plain and uninteresting and easily forgotten - nothing to remember. What may seem to you as a letter or acronym gibberish, to some other people is actually a covert reference to certain things. Even then, this is one of the nicer things to discover (the meaning of) even much later, after completing to play the game. That's
is it necessary to explain the references the names are based on or is it okay without it?

Very frustrating February update. While being new here and not quite technical, the news means simply that there will be nothing to test for me until at least fall. Oh well, will check out the project situation in half a year then. See ya in fall!
