If he isn't back by now to defend himself, he is just a pansy-ass troll without a real point trying to get a rise out of you. Let his thread die, it isn't worth any of our time.

I encountered this problem after making one of those ethical choices, and this was pre-1.1. Couldn't get my approval up just like you said. Didn't bug me too much, I just loaded an autosave and it didn't come back. You didn't mess anything up, you just got the shaft. Sorry duder.

There is no non-beta 1.1. The version 1.1 that was just released was, in fact, the beta. They even go so far as to capitalize the word "beta" in the title and body of the post. It is stated on the front page that not all of the features have been implemented, and you may view the list of changes which is linked to several times in the top post.

Sometimes I start 5-6 new games in a couple minutes because my starting placement sucks. Ctrl-N for the win. If it takes you a couple minutes to create a new game, you aren't using it. It makes a new game with the running game's current settings, it's just a new galaxy.

I played a game where the humans got this when they only had two planets in a large galaxy. It was rather... cute.

I don't know if this is a bug but... On my last game, I built an econ starbase and maxed the trade modules, the last of which was +50%. But I decided I put it in the wrong place. So I built another one over my routes, but I could only build up to +20%. I even destroyed the first one, thinking maybe the module was unique fo some odd reason, but no luck. So where'd it go?

Am I the only person that hates making up these detailed strategies for the beginning of a game? I understand perfectly what you are saying, mate. It's always made me frown how people turn strategy games and MMO's into very formulaic experiences, almost like it is a job. However, I believe that th

What do all of you do on your first ten or so turns? Do you change it up based on the map size or number/intelligence of AI? Do you have a specific victory condition in mind, or is it a cookie cutter beginning? As for me, I knock tax to 49% and capability to 100%. Research to 75% and social to 25%. I know this knocks me down to a few measly bc a turn, but this way I can rush the techs for faster ships. I buy colony ships every turn and

If I am correct, influence is, or can be at least, a determent to allying. If you look at the Foreign Advisor (can't remember which tab), you may find that your close borders earn you a - or a -- instead of + or ++ to the empire's attitude toward you. I'm sure the manual says, but I think influence is more for taking over alien planets than for diplomacy. I tried a diplomatic victory once. My strategy? Build up your economy and research, then when

As harsh as "L2P" may sound, that is exactly what is required. It takes knowledge of the different aspects of the game and how to balance them to get you ahead. You don't just build the biggest fleet and have at it. Have a look at the beginner guide, and don't hit the campaign until you can at least finish normal games. Link

I'd say A. GalCiv2 is an incredible sucess made possible primarily to their dedication to the single-player experience. They have made a single player game . As far as I am concerned you can tack that onto the genre: SP4X. I can't really find merit in hot-seat, as I like the metaverse pretty well. You can also come up with metamultiplayer on your own: You and a friend play two identical games, see who finishes first, highest score, etc. I

When the event window show up, like the Most Powerful window et al., the screen on my lappy drops a few shades of brightness for about a second, just as if I pulled my power cord out, and then brightens up again. What is up with that?

So I can't edit... I just went to the stardock FAQ, and it said that all "Direct CD" orders would have Collector's Edition status for "at least a couple of months". Which option is that exactly? Oooooone more thing. Since it appears that retailers won't get the game until later (I just called my Wal-Mart) can I preorder and still get CE stuff?

Ok, so I didn't preorder, but want the Collector's Edition stuff. It says I get it if I order the Collector's Edition specifically (from Walmart or Stardock directly). I see no specific option for it. So will I have to wait for a Collector's Edition to come, or what is this about upgrading to Collector's Edition. I do not know because I haven't bought it yet and thus don't have that "eligible for X upgrade" thing. I just went to the stardock FAQ, and it said that all "Direct CD" o
