What was the name of the guy from Cracked who was writing it? Cuore's message needs to connect with *him* first and foremost!
#1 Living Galaxy. A lot of the design of Star Control 2 was predicated by the limitations of the time. For example, I suspect we all agree that if Paul and Fred could have, the galaxy would have been a lot more alive than it was. A living galaxy means that a lot of things are going on throughout the galaxy. That means the borders of different empires are being patroled, there are ships traveling back and forth between s
I'm wondering how robust the ship designer will be for adding features that don;t simply already exist in one of the ships that come with the game?
I'm curious about the same thing. If I wanted to design a ship that looks like a giant pizza, what's the likelihood that I'll also be able to blast other ships with tomato sauce and spinning pepperonis?
I just read the May Update and came here to discuss. *crickets* Is everybody just on Discord now?
I agree with bkee. To expand on this idea, how about having an option of marking any systems that we've been to but would like to return to as well? There could be any number of reasons for this (e.g. minerals to mine but didn't have the cargo space, enemies orbiting planet but too weak to engage them at the moment, etc.)
Riku is to Star Control as John Williams is to Star Wars.
Well, apart from the obvious copyright/trademark issues mentioned above, I would like to see some wormholes in this game. Wouldn't it be interesting if some wormholes simply threw your ship to randomized parts of the galactic map? It would make for an intriguing (albeit somewhat risky) way to explore the unknown.
So in the initial email (or was it the PDF?) to Founders members, there was mention that Paul didn't want you to use the Ur-Quan in the reboot because he had plans to one day return to them. Fair enough. But since I joined the forum, I've been reading that at some point it was decided that none of the original races would be included in the reboot. Was there something I missed where Fred Ford changed his mind and decided that he didn't
I want my planet to be littered with Tzo Crystals and Whackin' Bushes!
I first began playing Star Control when a friend gave me his copy of SC1. That game was primarily just SuperMelee in different strategic scenarios (e.g. 3 Arilou skiffs in a fleet that fights 5 different battles against Ur-Quan Dreadnoughts - lots of hiding next to planets). So when SC2 came out, I spent hours/weeks/months playing the SuperMelee before I ever even gave the RPG a try, since that's what I was already familiar with from the first game. That said, once
Hello *happy campers*! So nice to be invited to join the Founders Program. I haven't been a hardcore gamer since my college days, so I was uncertain about ponying up the cash to join, but one of my students got really excited when I showed him my invite email and said that the "lifetime" aspect was more than worth the cost. Plus, there's that naming the planet thing, so I jumped on board and gave myself an early Christmas present (as several others here s
