Not to be a bore by bringing up the MOO3 thing again but, what was THEIR budget? Starts you wondering if the cosmic algorithm for game quality uses an inverse function with regards to budget and company size... ;) Oh, and thank you for making sure GalCiv works smoothly on ancient machines. Easiest way to check compatability, get an old clunker and see if it works. :) Pinky

I could have sworn that the manual said something about yellow stars being more likely to have habitable stars, not that they had a monopoly on them. But I'm too lazy to look that up for you ;) Pinky

jK.MkIII, I seem to recall a game (can't recall the title) where the research you put in upped the percentage chance to get the tech. You started out with 0% cance to discover, put in the equivalent of say 10 points, then next turn you had a 10% chance of discovering it that turn. If you were extremely lucky you could hit it after 1 turn researching, but either way, put enough into it and you would eventualy get it, at 100% chance there was no way you couldn't get the roll. Pontius! MOM as in Masters of Magic? As in the game that had gave us the joke that the reason for anything was "Just Cause"? (ok, I admit to being not just a Geek but also a Dork) They are making a sequal? Nifty. Pinky

TheDrock: Whats the details? Need details to help troubleshoot. Frogboy: You know, this update was VERY poorly timed Frogboy. Tonight is one of the rare times when my days-off actually coincide with normal people's weekends and there is this cute WM (Woman Marine) that I want to hit the bars with. Not a coworker, she's at a different camp, same job though. And then theres this update... hrmm.. decisions decisions. Ahh well, there'll always be GalCiv, sorry Frogboy, you loos

Ack! Only my first couple of posts here and already I've participated in the commandeering of a thread! Although come to think of it Pheadyme, it does seem like a disproportionate amount of books use Elves, Dwarves, Aliens etc. in the 'waning years' or their respective races. /wrestles with conscience over thread movement /looses Astro, I will look for SoFaI next time I am in the PX but I doubt they will have it. I'll check for e-book pricing/availability. Every

Ok, I admit it, I'm a simple man, Jordan's Wheel of Time series has driven me almost bonkers with its plot twists and… well, happenings. Yet I was hooked and can't give it up. I have made the determination that I will not buy any more of the series until I hear that either he croaks or finishes it. THEN I'll go back, buy all the books and read through them, again. I heartily recommend Elizabeth Moon’s ‘Deed of Paksenarrion’ series, good stuff. A thought though, a book (or ga

Hrmmm... For a lot of us, or at least myself, we started out with games like MoO and StarControl2 and loved them. Coupla years later and the games get bigger and bigger and then we see MoO2 and StarCon3 come out and we heard of the size of the games and we think "Holy Cow, if MoO1 and StarCon2 were what someone can do with less than 10mb how much better, more in-depth these 400+mb games must be!?" And what did we get? We got crap with pretty pictures. And most of us didn't e
