The game runs rock solid for me. But then so did Civ4 - neither of them have ever crashed on me despite hours of playing! What I find dents the game is some of the odd UI decisions, which surprises me given Stardock's background. Why can't I upgrade ships when they're stacked? (Or on a planet?!) Why does clicking on another ship not unselect the first? Why do I have to select a new component before I can delete components from ships? Why c

B, more galciv as its just come out. Civ 4 is what civ always should have been, but never was. It's a strategy game! I think Frogboy's comments on the "why galciv 2 is singleplayer only" thread are very insightful. Civ4 is designed as a multiplayer game, with the streamlining that implies, and weaker AI than GC2. This means it's got a bit less atmosphere than GC2. But it scores strongly in terms of transparent mechanisms - you can reall
I hope it's not deliberate. I strongly dislike features put in to discourage "too much" reloading (like the free diplo the AI gets on reload). I play with a code of honour never to reload to replay a position, but I don't have huge chunks of time to play in - just an odd half hour here or there - so I want to be able to play a couple of turns and save. I never seem to see any effect from modifiers from special tiles (like precursor artifacts). All the stats for a building built there seem normal. Also, should the icons match the appropriate building? The farming boost does (looks like green wheat) but the others don't seem to (artifacts seem to be some sort of pyramid not beaker etc).
I just launched an unprovoked attack on the Carnoids (well, they had a class 23 planet and I had nothing above 13...) Parked a precursor ranger next to their planet and attacked with it. When the senate came up to vote whether to go to war, it said "%s" instead of "Carnoids" in the text describing the war resolution.
